In Japan, many people believe that the foam is a very important part of the beer drinking experience. So don’t be surprised at the “izakaya” when your 800 yen mug of beer comes 2/3 filled with beer and the remaining 1/3 just foam.
Many foreigners in Japan think this is a rip-off. But I think that most Japanese want to have a lot of foam, even if they’re paying for a lot of air.
So, for beer lovers in Japan, Takara Tomy Arts is releasing a beer foam maker called “Sonic Hour” soon – part of the “BeerHourSeries”. We saw the original “Beer Hour” at Toy Forum 2011 and the line-up of bubbles makers continues to grow…
How to use “Sonic Hour”: put a glass 2/3 filled with beer on the tray with a little water and touch the button. A supersonic vibration will be given evenly to the bottom of the glass and will make a fine creamy beer foam.
Want to be in more of a beer drinking mood? Try the “fashionable light-up” feature! You can choose one of 8 colors of illumination according to your mood.
The price is 3,990 yen (including tax). 2 colors; black and white are available.
Also try “JokkiHour” (Beermug Hour) and the “BeerHourCold” (also featured in the video).

At the 2013 Tokyo Gift Show, Takara Tomy unveiled a toy that’s at the cusp of being practical. The company calls it the Automee S, a tiny disk-shaped robot designed to clean the touchscreens on mobile devices. iRobot has nothing to worry about for now.
While the Roomba has brushes and a vacuum motor, the AutoMee S does its job using tiny cleaning pads. It also has sensors that detect edges and help it clean a screen evenly. According to Newlaunches, the Automee S can clean a tablet’s screen in about 8 minutes, which is depressingly long for a cleaning robot, but is just an endearing affectation for a toy. Here’s a short video about the Automee S uploaded by Robots Dreams:
The Automee S will go on sale in Japan on March for ¥1,575 (~$17 USD). It’s so stupid. I want one.

Check out this cool little gizmo from Japanese toy company Takara Tomy, who has recently introduced a cute little cleaning robot that they call the “Auto Mee S”. Well, what the heck do you need a mini Roomba clone for, you ask? How about this – when was the last time you took a nice, close look at your smartphone or tablet’s screen? See all of that nasty dust and smudges that have accumulated over weeks of use without any cleaning done? Yes sir, this is the purpose the Auto Mee S was designed for, to clean up the grime and dirt on smartphone and tablet LCD displays.
The Takara Tomy Auto Mee S will come with a pair of rotating cleaning papers and three tires located on its bottom, where it will help it wipe off fingerprints and dust when it travels over your smartphone or tablet display. Heck, it is even capable of knowing where the end of the screen is thanks to its built-in sensors, allowing it to prevent from cleaning beyond the designated boundaries. So far, it is said that the Auto Mee S is able to clean a smartphone’s display thoroughly in just 4 minutes, taking double the amount of time to clean tablets. Out later this March 28th, you can pick up the Auto Mee S in orange, blue, pink and white colors.

Takara Tomy is definitely a company that you know churns out interesting little gizmos from time to time, and this time around, it seems that the Japanese company has a surefire winner. In fact, their efforts have resulted in the strangely named Auto Mee S, which comes in the form of a tiny cleaning robot that was specially designed so that it can get rid of all the nasty smudges on your smartphone as well as tablet LCD displays. Sort of like a Roomba for your touchscreen device, if you get my drift.
Definitely a fun gadget to own for sure, where the Auto Mee S will sport a couple of rotating cleaning papers as well as a trio of tires on its bottom, which will allow it to move around as it wipes fingerprints off and dust away while traversing over your smartphone and tablet displays. It is capable of recognizing just where the end of the screen is in a similar manner as that of a robotic vacuum cleaner, allowing it to turn and keep on sweeping evenly without subjecting itself to the laws of gravity. Cleaning times for smartphones and tablets average at approximately 4 minutes and 8 minutes, respectively.
