Dalek the Snowman is Not a Jolly Happy Soul

Winter is in full swing in most of the country. While it was nearly 70-degrees in Texas yesterday, many Northern states are still swathed in deep snow and frigid temps. Not having snow in Texas, it’s always fun to see the winter shenanigans that people in colder climates get up to.

Not to be outdone by the Brits, a guy named Steve Marcote in Massachusetts has built his own 6-foot-tall Dalek snowman. It’s definitely cool and appears to use a plunger and a paint roller frame for arms. I wonder what he used to get all the rectangular indents done.

The Dalek snowman is impressively accurate looking for a snow creature. Now Steve needs to build a snow TARDIS to sit alongside it.

Doctor Who Carved Crayons: Doctor Wax

The Doctor’s enemies fear the Sonic Screwdriver. There are many reasons. It gets the Doctor out of tough spots like prison cells, it can reprogram electronics, and now it can color in a coloring book. Etsy seller Carved Crayons has made these amazing carved Sonic Screwdriver crayons.

It’s the 11th Doctor’s screwdriver in case you are wondering. The artist hand-carves each crayon, and embellishes them with melted wax from other crayons to apply different colors  to them. He also has some neat Dalek crayons and even a TARDIS.

It’s almost enough to make me want to want to buy a Doctor Who coloring book. In fact I’m buying one and coloring in it. I’m too old to start growing up now.

Doctor Who TARDIS Shower Rack Helps Whooligans Get Clean

The shower rack is one of those great inventions that give you a place to put all your shampoo and soap in the shower so you don’t have to worry about crushing your toes while your eyes are covered in soap. Not all shower racks are created equal though. This TARDIS shower rack is clearly head and shoulders above the rest.

The TARDIS shower rack is in the familiar police box blue color and has other touches that will make you feel like you are a showering Time Lord.

The two cubbies in the lower section are removable. If you are wondering why you might want to remove those lower cubbies, it’s because by taking them out you can stand tall bottles on the bottom rack. Say, doesn’t that make it bigger on the inside?

You can buy your own TARDIS shower rack for $44.99(USD) at ThinkGeek.

TARDIS Themed Awesome Box is Awesomer on the Inside

The Public Library of Brookline, Massachusetts recently built themselves an Awesome Box. The box is called the Awesome Box because it is full of awesome book suggestions.

All the book titles dropped off inside the Awesome Box are compiled and posted online to help other readers who are looking for some great books to read. To make the Awesome Box a bit more awesome, the library peeps painted it to look like Doctor Who’s TARDIS. The library workers were inspired by the 50th anniversary of the classic BBC sci-fi series.

The box also has a quote from The Doctor on the side that is very fitting for a library: “You want weapons? We’re in a library! Books! The best weapons in the world!… The Greatest arsenal we could have. Arm Yourselves!”

Another Gingerbread TARDIS, That’s all 12… No, 13!

We’ve seen our share of gingerbread TARDIS, but this one takes the cake, er, gingerbread – because it is decked out in holiday decorations. It has Christmas lights, a wreath and snow all over.

Redditor Fortunekitty really went the extra mile (or is it years – or light years when you are talking about a time machine that can travel through space?) with this gingerbread TARDIS.

Say, when a TARDIS gingerbread house goes stale, can it just go back in time and be fresh again? For that matter, can it even become stale? Does it get all timey wimey? These are questions for a mind much sharper than my own. All I know is that this TARDIS is just waiting to be devoured.

Life-size Flying TARDIS UAV: Propellers on the Outside

Flyonix specializes in aerial video and photography. The studio recently put their knowledge of drones for a geeky pursuit. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of Doctor Who, Flyonix set out to build and fly a life-size TARDIS. And they succeeded. Somewhat.

Flyonix built a custom rig with 12 propellers. Judging from their brief making-of videos – which you can watch here and here – they made the TARDIS model itself out of styrofoam. With everything in place, all that was left was to let her fly…

Oh, the humanity! Unfortunately it seems like her chameleon circuit wasn’t the only thing that needed fixing. According to Metro, a battery shortage was responsible for the crash. If you’re an aspiring Time Lord, you can see more in-progress photos of Flyonix’ ill-fated TARDIS on the studio’s Facebook page.

TARDIS Night Light Limited-Edition Chrome Version adds a dash of Dr Who to your home

tardis-chromeNot all night lights are created equal as you can tell with what you see above – the $19.99 TARDIS Night Light, which is not any normal night light. This is a limited edition chrome version to boot, so you know for sure that it will be a whole lot more special than any other night light out there in the market, even more so if you happen to be a Dr Who fan. Heck, your imagination might even point out to you that this light is useful to discourage any incoming nocturnal Dalek attacks, although in reality, it would help you find your way around the house after a night out with the boys at the local watering hole.

The TARDIS Night Light would be able to plug into any standard outlet, where it will then shine from both the windows as well as top in order to deliver an adequate amount of illumination for late night bathroom trips. It will also be an officially licensed 50th anniversary Doctor Who merchandise, so you can brag about it to anyone who drops by your home and sees it as an interesting device, what more, a conversation starter.

TARDIS Jukebox Made from Recycled Shipping and Pizza Boxes

It all started when David Prouty’s daughter challenged him to make something out of recycled boxes for the Doctor Who 50th anniversary. Not one to pass on a challenge, David set out to create something unique. Something awesome. A TARDIS jukebox.
tardis jukebox 1 620x853magnify

This is a 1/3 scale TARDIS that literally rocks. It has disco lights, sound activated LED’s, a smoke machine and an internal Bluetooth speaker. It is powered by a wireless remote and he can even connect his iPod or iPhone to it and he has an instant jukebox.

It was made out of old U-Haul, FedEx, and pizza boxes. Hell, the old Doctor Who series could have used David’s construction skills. This guy knows how to make something on a budget and make it look amazing.

It sure looks great for something made of pizza boxes. Great work, David.

Doctor Who/Sherlock Gingerbread TARDIS: Merry Moffat

This is the confectionery crossover that has so far eluded us on the TV screen. The Doctor and the Detective together at last. Both shows are headed by Steven Moffat, both characters are equally crazy and brilliant, and now they are a part of the same Christmas treat.
wholock 620x478magnify

It looks like the TARDIS is not only bigger on the inside, but it also now bears Holmes’ address. 221 B. Baker Street on its side. This awesome gingerbread house was created by Twitter user Wholock. Get the name? I would have gone with Doctor Holmes myself, but it’s clever.

Two great shows, one great treat. Looks like these roommates enter through different doors. This is a show I would love to see.
