In case you hadn’t heard, HTC’s warming up for another phone launch, readying events in both New York and London. The UK arm has now offered up a countdown clock (six days to go!), but with an extra soupçon of tease — some ever-so brief glimpses of its M7 device, rumored to land as the HTC One. Fortunately, someone’s managed to track down all the teaser clips and stitch them together — we’ve added it after the break. Alongside plenty of blinding light, we get a better peek at what seems to be a machined metallic edge around the device, as well as a single shot of the camera lens — HTC does love its imaging tech. You can also glean that the device will arrive dressed white, just like its predecessor, the One X.

Offering up its Facebook fans a loving wrapped teaser image, LG Mobile reckons it’s got something up its sleeve. On the social network entry, it notes that the new series will have an “unexpected distinction”, which is hopefully more than just a baffling screen ratio. Will it be ready for MWC in a few weeks? Or will the company go the way of other smartphone makers and just launch whatever it has at its very own event? Who knows? LG does, that’s who.

Samsung added a 17-inch model to its Series 7 Chronos laptop range last year, and updated the whole family with Ivy Bridge processors, to boot. Barely a breath into 2013, the company is at it again, teasing better hardware in the “new” Series 7. There isn’t much information in between the scenes of advanced robotic predators (video embed below), but those snippets mention RAMaccelerator (which promises 50 percent faster app loading), a full HD display, JBL speakers and most importantly, a beefy new AMD Radeon HD 8870M GPU. Since the 17-inch model already has a 1,920 x 1,080 panel and JBL speakers, these could be improvements coming to the 15-inch model, or maybe it’s a hint that RAMaccelerator and upgraded graphics are destined for the larger sibling — we just don’t know. As we’re merely days away from CES, it’s likely we’ll get a clearer picture of what’s what at the show, but we’ve also contacted Sammy for clarification in case beans are willing to be spilled beforehand.

MediaPortal is a rare veteran spinoff of XBMC — a testament to its fan base, but also a sign that it needs a fresh coat of paint. A new 1.3 beta might offer just what home theater PC users have been looking for to keep the front end relevant, at least in the short term. It carries a much more contemporary (and less Windows Media Center-like) skin with minor tweaks to the layout and overall interface. CableCARD support also makes its overdue appearance, although the lack of official CableLabs approval keeps the software from recognizing any copy-protected shows. Don’t fret if those additions aren’t enough, however — we’ve been given a hint as to what the long-in-development MediaPortal 2 will offer through a pair of videos. The clips are largely top-level overviews, but they allude to mobile tie-ins, events, extensions, more skin support, video backgrounds and news. With an Autumn Build of MP2 available “right around the corner” for viewers, it might not be long before we learn what those new additions are like through first-hand experience.

The green pigs have had their moment in the sun: it’s time for the Angry Birds to come back. Rovio Mobile has posted a teaser of a collaboration between its frustrated avians and Star Wars that will get a grand reveal on October 8th at Toys R Us’ Times Square location in New York City. No clear giveaways exist as to what’s coming, although Rovio is promising animations, comics and other material in the weeks ahead — we imagine it means more than a toy line, as unique as that can be. But does it mean an Angry Birds Space add-on that goes well beyond the Martian landscape, an entirely new game or something else altogether? We’ve asked the company for more details and will let you know if we’re given more information. In the meantime, get ready for what’s likely to be a geek culture explosion.
