Click Arcade Button Watch: 24-Hour Combo

Watchmaker Click is making a name for itself by incorporating mechanisms from gadgets or electronics into their wristwatches. We saw that with the Keypad, the Switch and the Wallswitch. The company’s newest watch is no different; it looks and works just like an arcade button.

Aptly named the Button, the watch cycles through the time, date and seconds each time you press its face.

I hope the watch isn’t as hard to press as it seemed in the video. Mash the left click button and head to Watchismo or Click’s website to buy the button.

Owlet Baby Bootie Lets You Monitor Your Baby’s Vitals from Your Smartphone

The Owlet isn’t a baby monitor is the usual sense of the word. I mean, it lets you monitor your baby, but not in the way that most baby monitors do, which is let you hear what’s going on at the moment.

Owlet

Instead, the Owlet is actually a bootie that measures your baby’s vital stats. It’s pretty compact and fits into a washable bootie (yes, it’s waterproof too), so it shouldn’t be too hard to keep this particular monitor on your child.

The Owlet works in conjunction with an app that lets you see how your baby is doing, providing quick stats on your baby’s position, temperature, oxygen levels and heart rate. It can also detect if they are sleeping.

Its creators were hoping to raise $100,000 to fund production, and have already exceeded their goal. The project was rejected by Kickstarter (I’m not sure why), so they have taken to creating their own crowdfunding site to raise the money. You can make a pledge of $159(USD) to get one of your very own Owlet baby monitor. That seems like a small price to pay to have this sort of peace of mind.

The De-Stressing Vest: It Sure Doesn’t Look Like A Medical Device!

De-stressing vestNo, the de-stressing vest, invented by a quartet of Cornell University
students, doesn’t look like a medical device, and I bet it doesn’t feel
like one either.  I just have two questions: Where do I have to go to
get into the device testing pool? and When?

2009 when he and his company Digital Sky Technologies (DST) invested

Cross Plane Multi-platform Wireless Controller: Remote Play All the Games!

Sorry NVIDIA, but it looks like the Shield is already obsolete. It’s not because of the Ghetto Shield, it’s because of the Cross Plane. Developed by three videogame console modders who founded a new company called Advanced Gaming Innovations (AGI), the Cross Plane streams HDMI input from and sends controller output to a PC, PS3, Xbox 360 and the Ouya. Yep, you read that right.

As you can see, the Cross Plane looks a lot like the Wii U Game Pad. It’s 1.5″ thick, 5.5″ tall and 9.5″ wide. It has a 7″ 1280 x 800 screen, two 25mm stereo speakers and a headphone jack. The red block you see sticking out of the Cross Plane’s back is a cartridge called the Control Pak. That cartridge doesn’t contain a game; rather it contains the hardware that makes the Cross Plane compatible with a gaming device. In other words, there’s an Xbox 360 Control Pak, a PC Control Pak and so on. AGI is also working on making the Cross Plane work with the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4.

The last component of the Cross Plane is a wireless HDMI transmitter and receiver, where you’ll plug in the HDMI cable from your PC or console.

As you may have guessed, the Cross Plane can only stream games within a local Wi-Fi network, but that’s to be expected. Perhaps the Cross Plane’s only weak point is that its battery only lasts 4 hours.

Pledge at least $349 (USD) on Kickstarter to get a Cross Plane as a reward. That’s right, for just $50 more than the Shield you get a device that is far more versatile and possibly future-proof, thanks to its cartridge based hardware. If AGI does make it compatible with the next generation consoles I am definitely going to buy a Cross Plane.

Samsung’s Galaxy Gear Smartwatch Isn’t All It’s Cracked Up To Be

Samsung Galaxy Gear Smartwatch Panned By CriticsBack when it was first announced, Samsung’s Galaxy Gear Smartwatch enjoyed considerable hype as an enormous leap forward for mobile technology. Unfortunately, early reaction to the product hasn’t exactly been glowing. Matter of fact, most critics have panned it as a ‘limited, overpriced toy.’

Virgin Galactic SpaceShip Two Test Flight Hits Mach 1.43

We’ve been suckers for space travel around here for a long time. My secret goal is to one day make enough money to afford a ticket aboard Virgin Galactic’s SpaceShip Two. Unfortunately, tickets for suborbital flights are insanely expensive, but it would be so cool to take one of those flights.

Before anyone can climb on board the SS2 and head into orbit, the aircraft has to pass a number of flight tests. Virgin Galactic recently conducted another flight test in which SS2 was able to reach an altitude of 69,000 feet and a speed of Mach 1.43. SS2′s previous best was 55,000 feet and Mach 1.2.

The test flight happened at 8 AM local time in the California Mojave Desert this past Thursday. This marks the second time SS2 has had a successful supersonic flight using its rocket engine. The latest flight saw the hybrid rocket engine burn for 20 seconds, twice the time it was powered up during the first flight.

LG 77-inch Curved OLED 4K TV is a Thing of Beauty

…and no, you can’t afford one. At this week’s IFA in Berlin, LG outed this gorgeous new screen powered by a large 77-inch diagonal OLED panel.

The display offers 4K (UHD) resolution, and amazing image clarity and color. LG hasn’t released any further details on the screen yet, but knowing that their 55″ curved 1080p OLED screen sells for almost $15,000, I’m guessing this display will be beyond the reach of mere mortals like us.

Still, it’s fun to look.
