Toshiba introduces new Tecra Laptops

Tecra R940While they’re not busy designing laptop/tablet hybrids with built-in styluses, Toshiba has been busy working on some new Tecra laptops as well. Designed for small business users, the Tecra R940 and Tecra R950 are touted to have everything a small or medium business needs: increased durability, spill resistant keyboards, hard drive impact sensor and a shop absorbing design ensure your important files don’t get lost when your computer is damaged.

Both models can be configured with 3rd gen Intel Core processors, dedicated AMD graphics, up to 16GB of memory, and are pretty portable with a weight of less than 5.3 pounds and a width of only one inch. Prices for the new Tecra laptops begin at $599.99 and are available from ToshibaDirect.com. Links to the product pages below:

Toshiba outs Tecra R940 and R950 for small business set Ivy Bridge for $600 and up

Last month, Toshiba gave its Tecra line the Ivy Bridge treatment, outing the enterprise-focused R940 and R950 with fingerprint readers and the Smart Client Manager. Today it circled back to give smaller businesses something new, though the company confusingly chose the same naming scheme for its more budget-priced Tecra machines. Not to be confused with the corporate crowd’s Tecra R940 and R950, these two models are available only through ToshibaDirect, and they forgo some of the higher-end business security features like the fingerprint reader to keep the price down. The 14-inch Tecra R940 starts at $600 and can be configured with a third-gen Intel CPU, optional AMD dedicated graphics and up to 16GB of RAM. The 15.6-inch Tecra R950 also goes for $600 and up, and both laptops can be configured with 320GB hard drives all the way up to 512GB SSDs.
