Acer Iconia Tab A110 allegedly caught brandishing Jelly Bean in press shots

Acer Iconia Tab A110 allegedly caught brandishing Jelly Bean in press shots

When we last left Acer’s Iconia Tab A110, it was going to be yet another 7-inch Android 4.0 tablet. No big deal. The proposition just became a little more intriguing now that online shop Ebuyer has posted what might be formal press shots of the A110 sporting a fresh coat of Jelly Bean, making it one of the first third-party Android 4.1 tablets that we’ve seen. Assuming the gallery isn’t just a clever attempt to whip customers into a frenzy, the posting suggests Acer’s design will follow the Nexus 7 formula all the way through to the stock interface. About the only differences are that empty home screen and incredibly generic wallpaper. Where it goes awry is the timing: without any hint of a release date, we don’t know if a Jelly Bean update would push the A110 beyond its original summer launch target. Any truth to the story, however, can only mean good things for the tablet’s larger A210 sibling.

Lenovo reportedly prepping Intel and ARM versions of IdeaPad Yoga transforming tablet

Lenovo reportedly prepping Intel and ARM versions of IdeaPad Yoga transforming laptop

We’ve known for a while that NVIDIA is working with Lenovo (and ASUS) on a Windows RT Tablet, but ABC News believes that we might already have seen the mystery device in action. Its sources have let slip that alongside the Intel-powered IdeaPad Yoga laptop / tablet hybrid (LapLet? TabTop?), the company will release a Tegra-powered version running Windows RT, combining the same sexy hardware with ARM’s power-sipping technology. If true, then we might have a very tough purchasing decision on our hands when the gear arrives — with the launch date still expected to be on October 26th.

NVIDIA Q2 earnings bounce back through Tegra: $119 million profit on $1.04 billion in revenue

NVIDIA logo

NVIDIA’s fiscal performance in its second quarter shows the rewards of patience in the mobile sphere. It just saw its profit double versus a glum first quarter to $119 million, even though the company only slightly edged ahead in revenue to $1.04 billion. In explaining the success, the company is quick to point to a confluence of events that all worked in favor of its bank account: a slew of Tegra 3 phones and tablets like the Transformer Pad TF300 made NVIDIA’s quarter the brightest, but it could also point to a much-expanded GeForce 600 line on the PC side and the shipments of the first phones with NVIDIA-badged Icera chips. The graphics guru expects its revenue to climb more sharply in the heat of the third quarter as well — between the cult hit Nexus 7 tablet and a role as a major partner for Windows RT, NVIDIA has at least a temporary license to print money.

Transformer Pad TF300TL LTE tablet revealed with Tegra 3

It appears that the quad-core ASUS Transformer Pad TF300TL tablet will be hitting Germany and Austria later this month, complete with support for 4G LTE. German site TechFokus reports that a press release gives the TF300TL a middle of August release for both countries, so it won’t be much longer before it launches in at least some parts of the world. At the moment, it’s still unknown when it will arrive in the United States, or any other countries for that matter.

The TF300TL is expected to cost around €629 ($772) if you want the optional keyboard dock, and €529 ($649) if you don’t. ASUS has been building this up as the first quad-core 4G LTE tablet, and it comes complete with a NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor. You’re packing some power under the hood, and you’ve got 4G LTE to boot. What more could you want?

According the ASUS announcement, the tablet also comes with 32GB of storage, 1GB of RAM, a 10.1-inch display capable of 1280 x 800, and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich installed. The TF300TL will come in the same colors as the currently-available Wi-Fi only version (red, white, and blue), and German carrier O2 will be offering a special white tablet. It all sounds great, but as stated above, we’re still waiting for ASUS to announce it for other countries.

If this this tablet is indeed landing in Germany and Austria later this month, then it may not be long before ASUS starts talking about launch in additional countries. That, of course, depends on how quickly the company wants to release the tablet worldwide, but we’re hoping for a speedy announcement. Stay tuned, as we’ll update you if ASUS makes any announcements for the availability of the TF300TL in other countries.

HTC Endeavour C2 points to potential One X refresh

Last week we heard word that an improved version of the HTC One X was heading to T-Mobile USA, returning to the NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor from Qualcomm’s Snapdragon S4 chip and pairing it with Jelly Bean. Now word comes from Stuff.tv that HTC is planning something similar with the international version of the device, with the updated model codenamed “Endeavour C2.” The HTC One X originally carried the Endeavour codename, with details of this new device suggesting it will be a small refresh of the popular handset.

The improved version of the HTC One X is expected to retain its NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, but it will receive a bump in clock speed to 1.7Ghz. The battery will also be improved – we’re assuming HTC will increase the capacity – and a new color option will be on offer, which should please those looking for something other than white or grey.

The handset will be bundled with Beats headphones just like the HTC One X and other HTC phones, with Stuff also hearing word that current HTC accessories will continue to work without any trouble with the refreshed model, suggesting that the design of the handset won’t be radically different. Meanwhile, HTC will add ClearVoice to “improve call quality”, which sounds similar to HD Voice offered on certain carriers’ handsets.

Finally, HTC Watch 2, an improved version of the company’s video streaming service, will be bundled with the new handset. Pricing hasn’t been finalized, but Stuff believes UK carriers will offer the refreshed model on tariffs £5 more expensive than the current HTC One X. The handset is expected to be released around October 1st, just in time to go toe-to-toe with the Galaxy Note II and the next iPhone.

Rumored HTC One X+ with 1.7GHz Tegra 3 revealed in NenaMark report?

DNP Rumored HTC One X with 17GHz Tegra 3 revealed in NenaMark report

We’ve heard murmurings of it before, but they’ve been just that. Now we’ve got the first shred of hard evidence that the fabled HTC One X+ is actually real. Rumored to be heading to T-Mobile (or AT&T, depending on who you ask), this 1.7GHz super phone popped up over at NenaMark’s site, bearing the model number PM63100. Sadly, that internal moniker doesn’t really reveal much, but between that and the fact that it’s running Jelly Bean 4.1.1 we’re confident this isn’t something already on the market. And the reported resolution of 1280 x 720 combined with its high-speed Tegra 3 innards puts this squarely in flagship territory. What else do we know? Not a whole heck of a lot. But, as always, the truth will be revealed in time.

Sony Xperia Tablet leaked from internal slides: Surface-style keyboard and tentative $450 price tag

Sony Xperia Tablet leaked from internal slides Surfacestyle keyboard and tentative $450 price tag

Sony’s next-generation tablet appears to have leaked on internal slides spotted by German news site, Mobiflip. In short, it’s thinner and lighter than the Tablet S, while internal specifications also trump it, including a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, Android 4.0 (“or later”), 3G connectivity and three storage options; 16, 32 and 64GB. The whole tablet follows the same folded magazine design of Sony’s existing tablet, is splashproof and houses a 6,000mAh battery that the slides suggest will manage 10 hours of WiFi-based web browsing. There’s even some tentative pricing, with the different-sized models marked up at $450, $550 and $650, respectively. The pictures also cover Sony’s plans to add a lightweight keyboard to its next tablet, similar to Microsoft’s Surface plans, but with some Smart Cover-esque kickstand skills thrown in for good measure. We’ve added a shot of the keyboard cover after the break, but you can take a tour of the rest of the slides — which include a raft of accessories and docks — at the source link below.

Update: We’ve been in touch with a Sony spokesperson, who had “no comment at this stage.” We may have to wait until next month, when European trade show IFA kicks off — with Sony in attendance — until we hear anything more concrete.
