Temple Run 2 Adds Usain Bolt Character To The Game With His Own Special Ability

Temple Run 2 Adds Usain Bolt Character To The Game With His Own Special AbilityThe first Temple Run game got pretty famous on its own, which later saw the game utilized by movie studios to help promote their movies. The game itself then got a sequel with updated graphics and new ruins to navigate, and if you love playing the game as much as I do, you might be pretty pleased to learn that the game has recently received an update where it will introduce to gamers a brand new character that they pay to purchase. For a limited time and if you’re willing to drop $0.99, you will be able to purchase the Usain Bolt character!

Yes it is the same Usain Bolt athlete who broke records in sporting events, and now he is a playable character in Temple Run 2. It is unknown how long this “limited time” offer is, but if you’re the sort that likes unlocking as many characters as you can, you might want to move fast. Usain Bolt’s character will also be getting his own unique ability called (unsurprisingly) the “Bolt”, and it basically combines the Boost ability and the Magnet ability together, which we have to admit is pretty darn cool. In any case for those who have yet to download the game, you can hit up the iTunes App Store for the free download, but just to reiterate, the Usain Bolt character will cost $0.99 to unlock.

Instagram And Temple Run 2 Rumored To Be Announced Alongside Nokia Lumia 928

Instagram And Temple Run 2 Rumored To Be Announced Alongside Nokia Lumia 928We’ve heard rumors that Instagram, Temple Run 2 and other apps could be making its way onto Windows Phone, but when exactly will that be happening? Well according to the folks at WMPoweruser, they claim that through one of their sources at Microsoft, they have learnt that those long-awaited apps will finally be announced and launched once Nokia and Verizon officially announce the Nokia Lumia 928. The Lumia 928 is rumored to be an exclusive phone designed for Verizon and could come with an aluminum body, a first for Nokia’s Windows Phone lineup which will hopefully appeal to those who feel that polycarbonate is too “cheap”. Considering that the previous rumors have pegged the launch of these apps in May, and with the Lumia 928 also rumored for a May announcement, it certainly coincides with each other. However until we actually see or hear it for ourselves, we suggest you take it with a grain of salt for now.

Temple Run 2 Outpaces 50 Million Download Mark

Temple Run 2 Outpaces 50 Million Download MarkImangi Studios sure as heck has a hit on their hands with Temple Run 2, where it continues to outpace all the other competitors on the mobile gaming front when it comes to the number of downloads. It seems that Temple Run 2 has already been downloaded more than 50 million times across three platforms – iOS-, Android-powered and Kindle devices.

Going beyond 50 million downloads in a matter of 13 days meant it had pushed Rovio’s Angry Birds Space to second place, where the bird slinging title tool 35 days instead to achieve the 50 million milestone. Temple Run 2 was first released over on the App Store on January 17th, where it peaked at the #1 slot in Free Apps in no time at all as it picked up half a dozen million downloads in under 24 hours.

Following that, Google Play and Amazon Marketplace releases saw this gold-chasing sequel of a game continue its run of success (pardon the pun), hitting the #1 spot on both stores. Will Temple Run 2 surpass its predecessor’s total amount of downloads that stands at 170 million times (and counting) in due time? I am quite sure that it will, the question is, how long will it take? [Press Release]

Temple Run 2 Downloaded Over Six Million Times In 24 Hours

Temple Run 2 Downloaded Over Six Million Times In 24 Hours

Temple Run 2 released last week to shoot up to the top of the App Store in under just under 12 hours and today, Imangi Studios announced just how many downloads the sequel to its popular game has received.

Imangi Studios announced today Temple Run 2 received over six million downloads in just its first day of availability with it rocketing to the #1 spot in the App Store’s free games section in just eight hours after release. In its first weekend of being available on the App Store, it was downloaded over 20 million times and is currently the App Store’s #3 top grossing application.

“The response from fans has been overwhelming,” says Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi. “We are thrilled players want more of the Temple Run universe, and we hope to grow and expand the game over the coming months.”

In just under a week of being available, Temple Run 2 players have already played the game 210 million times, which equates to 1,775 years of gameplay.

When Google Maps for iOS was released a little over a month ago, we though its ten million downloads in under 48 hours was impressive, but Temple Run 2 may have completely shattered that previous milestone.

Temple Run 2 Dashes To The Top Of App Store

temple run 2 app store Temple Run 2 Dashes To The Top Of App Store

Temple Run 2 debuted on iOS earlier today, which many of us at the Ubergizmo offices have been completely hooked for the majority of our day. It looks though we’re not the only ones who have noticed Imangi Studios’ sequel to its extremely popular game as it looks like it’s experiencing the same success Temple Run did now that it’s been launched to the top of the “Free” section on the iTunes App Store.

Temple Run 2 hasn’t even been available for 12 hours, which means we should expect some news from Imangi Studios in the very near future on its success, which we assume may have been downloaded at least 500,000 times today, although we wouldn’t be surprised if we heard it was downloaded over one million in its first 24 hours of being available.

Don’t worry, Android Temple Run players. It looks like your day to receive your version is coming sooner than you think as we know it took way too long to get the original Temple Run on your platform after it was available on iOS. What? You’re a Windows Phone user who wants Temple Run 2? Uh… good luck?

Temple Run 2 Could Be Arriving On Android Next Week

Screen Shot 2013 01 16 at 15.28.26 Temple Run 2 Could Be Arriving On Android Next WeekIf you love Temple Run, chances are you might have already heard that its sequel, Temple Run 2, was released earlier today on iOS devices. Given that Temple Run is available on both iOS and Android, presumably the Android version of Temple Run 2 will be released as well and according to an interview with Polygon, Imangi’s co-founder Keith Shepherd said that the Android version of the game is almost done and he expects that it should be released on the Google Play store sometime next week. However he did add a disclaimer by saying that, “with these things, you never know,” meaning that if any delays occur, Android users probably shouldn’t be surprised. The original Temple Run has yet to be released on Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform despite the Redmond company promising that the game would eventually be released, but given that the statement was made on the 29th of October back in 2012, we guess Windows Phone owners will probably have to wait a bit more for their turn.
