Suck at Flappy Bird? Don’t worry, most humans do. Even if you’re smart, the game is so silly it won’t reward your intelligence. But do you know how you could outsmart Flappy Bird? By building a Flappy Bird terminator. Two guys from China used their frustration to make a robot who basically kicks ass at Flappy Bird. Watch it. It uses a webcam to figure out how many taps is needed to clear the pipes and a robotic arm made from an old hard drive and a tip of a stylus. Hasta la vista, birdy.
Nowadays, when you go see a big movie, you assume everything is going to be computer animation and greenscreen, and nothing is real. But a lot of the biggest, craziest movie stunts, past and present, have been entirely practical. Here are some of the most complicated stunt sequences that were created in reality.
The DARPA Robotics Challenge, or DRC, kicked off today at the Homestead-Miami Speedway about 30 miles south of Miami. A total of sixteen teams from around the world are here to challenge each other today and tomorrow in timed trials, and to compete for funding from DARPA, the Pentagon’s mad science arm. A seventeenth team, from China, hit travel snags and hasn’t made it here yet.
If you have ever watched Game of Thrones on HBO, you’re probably familiar with Daenerys Targaryen, Mother of Dragons, the Khaleesi herself, played by Emilia Clarke. Word is that she will next be playing a pivotal roll in one of the coolest sci-fi movie franchises ever, Terminator.
Clarke will reportedly be playing Sarah Connor. The choice of Clarke for the part makes sense considering that Terminator: Genesis is being directed by Alan Taylor, who is heavily involved with Game of Thrones. According to IMDB, the role of John Connor will be played by Jason Clarke (Brotherhood, Zero Dark Thirty) with Arnold returning to the franchise.
This is particularly interesting to me since Lena Headey played Sarah Connor on the short lived, underrated Fox series Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, since Headey plays Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones. I wonder if Arnold will play the Terminator in the new film, he’s a bit old and not as ripped as he was in the 80′s. Why not keep it in the Game of Thrones Family and get Jason Momoa, who played Khal Drogo to be the Terminator?

We might not be able to build a liquid metal T-1000 killing machine yet, but we just took a huge step towards building a plastic one. Scientists have managed to develop a new polymer that—when cut in half—can heal all by itself. Pretty awesome trick.

Sometimes when you need a Terminator, a crazy puppet backpack will do
T-600 is neither your average puppet nor your average backpack, but this quick little clip from Stan Winston Schools shows that he’s pretty impressive for both. Who said puppets had to be cute? [Stan Winston School]
A life-size T-800 Terminator is one of those those that I hoped I would never live to see. Thank God this one is made of LEGO pieces and not Skynet parts. Even if he comes to life, so you could just take him apart brick by brick if you had to.
This 15,000-piece, full-scale Terminator T-800 LEGO model was built by Martin Latta. Quick! Hit it with a hammer and watch all of those bricks fall down. No, I haven’t seen the John Connor minifig, stop asking. My jacket is also not your size. Anyway, the detail on this awesome LEGO sculpture is very impressive.
How about a LEGO Terminator franchise of video games, LEGO guys? You have Batman and Star Wars, so why not?

Terminator Tattoos: I Need Your Clothes, Your Boots, Your Motorcycle and Your Ink
Posted in: Today's ChiliMaybe it’s because I don’t want to see what they’ll look like when I’m old and shriveled up, or maybe it’s just because I have a low threshold for pain that I’ve never had the desire to get a tattoo. That said, If I did have the balls to get inked, I’d hire artist Yomico Moreno to do the job.
The Venezuelan tattoo artist is known for creating an incredible sense of depth and dimensionality in his designs, with many of his images looking like what you’d see if you peeled back the flesh and looked underneath.
His most incredible designs reveal muscle, flesh, blood and sometimes even the mechanical structures like those you’d find in a cyborg – if cyborgs existed.
Sure, his designs are quite disturbing, but they’re also totally awesome. For now, though, I’m sticking to the temporary tattoos you might find in a old box of Cracker Jacks.
You can check out more of Yomico’s tattoo artistry over on his Facebook page.
