Tetris Played On Philadelphia Skyscraper

History was created on Saturday night, when a game of Tetris was played on the walls of a 29-story Philadelphia skyscraper, where that gargantuan surface hosted what many deem to be the “world’s largest game of Tetris,” and chances are pretty good that this will also be the largest videogame overall in the world, too. Just such a spectacle was made possible thanks to a team that was led by Drexel University computer science professor Frank Lee, who managed to hack into the LED lighting system of the Cira Centre building that is located in downtown Philadelphia, resulting in this humongous Tetris game which could be played at any time throughout the Philly Tech Week.

It Turns Out the Straight Line Isn't the Most Useful Tetris Piece

It Turns Out the Straight Line Isn't the Most Useful Tetris Piece

If someone asked you what the most coveted Tetris piece was, you’d instantly say the straight line, right? After all, you’re always building your stack to leave a thin gap down one side so that when a straight piece does fall, you can clear out four levels at once. But in real life, at least thanks to this multitool, the T-shaped tetromino is far more useful.

Business card has built-in Tetris game

arduboyThey say that you never get a second chance at making a first impression, so when it comes to meeting up with some of your business associates for the first time, it might be prudent to have a really great looking business card to go alongside your winsome personality, so that they will have you in mind the next time they want to close a deal. Plain cards are simply boring, so why not make a statement with an interactive business card? This is what Bateske Design had set out to do, and the result of their work happens to be the Arduboy digital business card.

In essence, this is a small Arduino-based card which would enable ordinary folks to enjoy a game of Tetris on it. It is truly a testament to the wonders of miniaturization in the world of engineering where an OLED screen, capacitive D-pad, A/B buttons, and a piezo speaker has been crammed into a card no thicker than 1.6mm. Bateske Design is said to be working on a Kickstarter campaign soon for such interactive card, but the cost of one of these cards will not be affordable. It costs approximately $30 for a DIY kit, $50 for assembled cards, and $100 for those that will feature custom artwork.

Have Some Cravings? Alleviate It With Tetris

Have Some Cravings? Alleviate It With TetrisNow this is going to sound really weird, but at the end of it all, I am quite sure that there is some method to the madness eventually. We humans do have varying degrees of cravings, be it from food or drink, or even exercise and physical intimacy. The discipline as well as mental fortitude required to withstand such cravings ranks pretty high for most of us, so what can you do if you do not possess the legendary kind of willpower required? How about indulging in a little bit of Tetris? This certainly sounds like some sort of quack science, but according to psychologists at Plymouth University, a short play session of Tetris will be able to reduce whatever cravings that you are experiencing at the moment until they wear out eventually.

Tetris Heads For Xbox One And PS4 Thanks To Ubisoft

Tetris Heads For Xbox One And PS4 Thanks To UbisoftThe folks over at Ubisoft have a real treat for you – they are about to deliver what is known as one of the most famous games in the world to next generation consoles, namely the Sony PS4 as well as the Xbox One. Say what? I know, after spending $500 or so on such a console, one might not be expected to actually play a primitive game such as Tetris, especially when you take into consideration just how far the graphics in such a game can go. I did get hooked on Tetris again on Facebook for a while, but after being pwned by so many youngsters who have seemingly insane reflexes, I decided to call it a day. Ubisoft, however, has worked with The Tetris Company in order to develop the Tetris franchise for digital release on the Xbox One and PS4.
