The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will be setting sail onto the Wii U on October 4, leaving many longtime Nintendo and The Legend of Zelda fans counting down the days until the game is finally available for purchase. It turns out The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker wasn’t the only game Nintendo had experimented with by upgrading the graphics of a previously released Zelda game as series lead Eiji Aonuma admits there were three games the company was playing around with.

In addition to The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Nintendo had played around with the idea of an HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, both of which were originally released on the Nintendo Wii. It turns out their experiment resulted in an HD remake of Wind Waker considering the game’s graphic style and art style translated well on the Wii U given the graphic capabilities of the new system.

Now that The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD will soon be available on the Wii U, that doesn’t mean Aonuma-san isn’t thinking about giving Twilight Princess or Skyward Sword an HD remake as well. “I can’t say that the possibility is zero that those will be made into HD, but right now I need to work on the next installation in the series so I don’t have the bandwidth to do that right now,” he said during an interview with Polygon. “But maybe it will happen if someone else does it.”

Nintendo is preparing to release an HD remake of its GameCube classic, The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker, in October. Judging by the recently released screenshots of the game, Nintendo is sure to have another hit on its hands, which means a new generation of Zelda fans will soon be upon us. This also means there will undoubtedly be a rise in Zelda merchandise for sale, but if you ask me, you should only buy one thing this year: Man at Arms’ Master Sword. (more…)

The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past has always been a game fans of the Legend of Zelda series have always held a special place in their gamer heart as its story and gameplay mechanics have certainly left an impact for several years. Today, Nintendo announced it would be releasing a new Legend of Zelda game for the 3DS that is set in the same game world.

The new Legend of Zelda game for the Nintendo 3DS will be a sequel to the Super NES title and will feature some new gameplay mechanics such as Link’s ability to become a 2D drawing in order to navigate his way along walls. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime described the 3DS sequel as a title that will “reinvigorate the flat 2D world of A Link to the Past with a sense of height and volume” and will feature “an original storyline and all new dungeons.” (more…)
