The Legend Of Zelda: Majora’s Mask Mod Places Nicholas Cage’s Face On Everything

For several years now, it seems Nicholas Cage has been in every movie possible, or at least has attempted to be somewhat included in nearly every film. Because of that, the internet has decided putting his face on pretty much anything and everything should be a thing, the results of which will probably terrify you and make you wish you could have the power to unsee things. This might be one of those times.

YouTube user Criken created a video called “The Legend of Cage: Beneath the Mask” and what it highlights is a texture mod that replaces characters and pretty much anything else’s face in The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask with Nicholas Cage’s face. As we warned you earlier, this video is 13 minutes of just complete and utter weirdness. (more…)

Woman Hacks The Legend of Zelda, Makes Zelda the Hero: Warrior Princess

Like many of us, animator Kenna W. read about the Dad who hacked Donkey Kong so his daughter could play as Pauline and save Mario. The story reminded Kenna of how, as a kid, she was bummed out that she never got to play as Zelda in The Legend of Zelda. So she made her own wish come true.

Kenna made a custom patch that makes Zelda the hero of The Legend of Zelda. She then used that patch to edit a ROM of the game. Kenna used a sprite editor called Tile Layer Pro to animate and replace Link’s sprites with the Hylian princess’ sprites. Her boyfriend wrote a Python script that allowed her to change the color of Zelda’s dress as well as edit the text on the game’s opening and closing scrolls.

Finally, the moment you’ve been waiting for. Are you ready Zelda fans? Here it is, Kenna playing as Zelda!

This reminds me of the dad who hacked the text in Wind Waker for his daughter. Head to Kenna’s blog to find out more about her patch and how you can experience playing as Zelda as well.

Zelda Inspired Pixel Heart Jewelry Symbolizes Your Love Bar

Etsy artist Nastalgame sells plastic jewelry inspired by the hearts from The Legend of Zelda. There’s a necklace, a bracelet, a ring and two different types of earrings. The hearts can also be “broken”, in case you’re not feeling particularly romantic.

For example, the bracelet you see above has two sides:

The hearts on the necklace and the pair of earrings with short chains can literally be broken apart, but the chains will hold up both heart halves. The other pair of earrings on the other hand consists of two halves that match together. But my favorite piece is the ring. Not only does the heart snap in to two pieces, the ring itself can be separated, so you can give one of the halves to someone else. Awwwww.

The Legend of Zelda Fan-Made Cartoon Is Full Of Saturday Morning Goodness

One of Nintendo’s most popular action-adventure games that involve a hero named Link and a princess named Zelda has got to be its The Legend of Zelda series. Many potential Wii U owners are anticipating news from Nintendo of a new Legend of Zelda title, which hopefully will come at E3 2013. In the meantime, how about we enjoy a fan-made video from Shamoozal and GoNintendo that imagines The Legend of Zelda as a modern-day cartoon.

In “Link’s Triumph,” we witness one of the most iconic moments in the entire Legend of Zelda series which has Link fighting his first boss battle with nothing more than his wooden sword. The concept of a boss battle was nothing new when The Legend of Zelda was released, but boss battles with enemies that took up nearly an entire screen was something no one ever thought of and probably lead to many nightmares.

The animation in the video is done very well and you might even spot a few easter egg sounds thrown into the mix, one of which is Link’s voice when he attacks, which wasn’t introduced until much later on in the series.

Legend of Zelda prototype cartridge goes to auction: $150,000 proves your loyalty to Hyrule (video)

Legend of Zelda prototype cartridge

And you thought that Nintendo World Championships gold cartridge would make a nice start to the retirement fund. An eBay auction from tjcurtin1 is offering a prototype NES cartridge for the US release of The Legend of Zelda at a Buy It Now price of $150,000, or roughly ten times more than the typical final bid that Price Charting quotes for a typical NWC cart. While it looks like an unassuming yellow chunk of plastic, it’s actually a Nintendo of America copy from February 23, 1987 — half a year before the definitive action adventure reached the US market. The game still plays and can even save its game on the still functional, industry-first battery backup. Just remember that it’s not necessarily going to reveal any design secrets from Shigeru Miyamoto or Takashi Tezuka: the seller warns that he can’t see any practical differences between the early copy and the (also included) shipping version. Anyone well-heeled enough to buy the prototype is therefore going solely for the collector’s value. But for those determined to be the coolest kid on any block about 25 years late, there’s only one way to go.
