It’s always beautiful when two awesome things collide. It’s especially beautiful when those two things are The Simpsons and Lego. And that’s exactly what we’re going to see on May 4, when Fox will air an episode of The Simpsons in Lego form—or at least CGI Lego form.
This isn’t photoshopped. Photographer Alexander Khokhlov uses hair and makeup to create insane out-of-this-world images. Using 3D make-up effects he can trick you into thinking you’re looking at a heavily-photoshopped image, but it’s actually just a bit of hair and make-up black magic. Here’s how he does it:
A city as progressive as Springfield—renowned globally for its renewable energy production—should be on the forefront of public transit innovation. But as we’ve learned this week, Springfield is rife with transportation shortcomings.
I would so watch a French version of The Simpsons that makes fun of itself as much as this couch gag. Hopefully, it could be just as beautifully animated as this too. This couch gag was made by French director Sylvain Chomet and it has Homer eating snails, Bart brutally making his own foie gras and a few other French touches sprinkled about.
Listen to super talented voice actor Brock Baker zip through 33 different Simpsons impressions in 5 minutes. His Homer takes a little getting used to but he nails a good chunk of them. There are a few that are pitch perfect (like his Fat Tony). Anyway, it all adds up to a very fun watch.
Google Glass is demonstrably creepy
Make sure you keep Lisa’s ears close to her eyes and nose but also make sure the nose line is perfect and overlapping the eye. Also, don’t forget to keep a streamlined curve to the face and keep the eyes round. This is important! Lisa Simpson, an iconic cartoon character as there is, is instantly recognizable anywhere because of the details put into drawing her. These instructions, which first appeared in Simpsons Illustrated years ago, reveals how detailed a cartoonist needs to be.
If you’re old enough to remember when The Simpsons was just a series of animated shorts on the The Tracey Ullman Show, you’ll probably feel even older when you realize that as of this year the show has been on the air for a quarter of a century. And what better way to celebrate its success than by immortalizing the characters as plastic over-sized toy potatoes?
The Simpsons has to be one of the longest running cartoon series in the world and is beloved by millions around the world at the same time. Now the good news for those living in the US is that if you were hoping to catch up with some older The Simpsons episodes, you will be able to do so come August 2014 as all 530 episodes of The Simpsons will be made available for streaming via a VOD app for FX Networks. To make it even better, all seasons will be available at all times, meaning that you should be able to catch up to any episode you want at any given time ,as opposed to being cycled through various intervals which can be a little annoying and frustrating. The episodes are also expected to be cross-referenced and searchable in a variety of different ways.
Now there is some bad news and that is not everyone will be able to stream it. Like we said this is a US-only offer at the moment, and to top things off, the content will only be available to those who are authenticated subscribers of the FX Networks, meaning that not everyone in the US will be able to stream it either. It is unclear if the app is available for both iOS and Android, or if it will be exclusive to one platform only, but we’re guessing it’s probably the former. In any case if you’re a subscriber to the FX Networks and live in the US, come this August you will have a ton of content you can catch up on.
