Thief’s PC Version Will Not Be A Port Of The Console

Thiefs PC Version Will Not Be A Port Of The ConsoleGamers might be pleased to learn that the Thief reboot will soon be released on multiple platforms on the 25th of February 2014. For those who are wondering if the PC version of Thief will simply be a port of the console version, you can rest assured that it won’t be. Granted this might save the developers time, especially if they’re aiming for a simultaneous release, but ports can be tricky as there might be aspects of the game that might not be optimized for a particular platform. In any case speaking to Gamespot, the game’s producer, Stephane Roy, reassured gamers that the PC version of Thief will not be a port.

According to Roy, “Honestly, if you’re a PC gamer, you’re going to be in love with [this] version.” He later adds, “They are going to have a PC version, not a port, all the PC options you can imagine are there.” So how did they manage to create a PC version and release it at the same time as the version for consoles? Well apparently it is because the PC version of the game’s development was handled by Nixxes Software, who for those unfamiliar is responsible for the PC versions of Hitman Absolution and Deus Ex: Human Revolution, both of which have received some pretty good reviews. As it stands there have been a couple of reviews released for the game and it has been somewhat mixed, but feel free to check it out for yourself if you loved the franchise growing up.

Apple, NYPD Team Up To Retrieve Stolen iOS Devices

Apple, NYPD Team Up To Retrieve Stolen iOS DevicesWe hear stories of Apple products like the iPhone and iPad being stolen on a somewhat regular basis, and we’re never happy to hear criminals are continually targeting these products, although we could understand why they would want to. If you took the necessary precautions and installed apps like Find My iPhone, then retrieving your stolen goods might be easier than than it used to be a few years ago.

A story published by the New York Post goes into detail how Apple and the NYPD have been working together in order to have stolen Apple products retrieved, even if the goods are no longer in New York City. (more…)

Carjackers Foiled In Corvette Hijack As They Don’t Know How To Drive Stick

manual fail Carjackers Foiled In Corvette Hijack As They Don’t Know How To Drive StickIf there is any proof that technology has made humankind dumber across time, this would be it. Randolph Bean of Oviedo, Fla., recently pulled his yellow Corvette over to the side so that he could text his wife safely one late Sunday night. Unfortunately, a couple of would-be carjackers who were armed with a gun came by, forcing Bean to the ground while the other person stepped into the driver’s seat.

Unfortunately, the carjacker wannabe had no idea how to start the 2002 Millennium Yellow Z06 Corvette, before the armed man told his partner in the failed crime, “It’s a stick!” The two assailants in the end decided to leave the Corvette alone, running away with Bean’s phone, wallet and keys instead. Stupidest thief of the year award winner? Don’t hold your breath just yet, as there are still 11 more months in 2013 to go before we see how far mankind has fallen in terms of intelligence due to technology. It does make you wonder whether the driving schools should make it compulsory for everyone to know how to drive stick, you know, not for hold-ups, but just in case of an emergency.

Paris Apple Store Robbed Of $1.6 Million Worth Of Goods

apple store theft Paris Apple Store Robbed Of $1.6 Million Worth Of GoodsNow this is not exactly the most auspicious start to the new year, but word has it that a quartet of armed robbers decided to target a closed Apple Store in Paris that is located in the Opera district on New Year’s Eve, and carted off a bundle of items that is said to have a street value of $1.6 million thereabouts after conversion. The Daily Mail claims that the thieves were masked and armed with handguns, and could very well have meticulously planned the raid to happen in the early evening on New Year’s Eve (you don’t say!?), considering how most of the Paris police department were tasked with maintaining the peace during the city’s New Year’s Eve celebrations. Well, at least Paris didn’t send all of their police force for peacekeeping duty, unlike Gotham’s finest.

The robbers were also said to have allegedly injured a security guard during the store’s raid, where hundreds of iPhones and iPads were the items bundled into a waiting van. No idea on the status of the robbers just yet, but we do know that they have yet to be caught as at press time.

Karma’s Got Ebola: Man Steals Phone from Quarantined Patient – And Gets Infected

I’m sure your mother taught you not to steal when you were a kid and even as you were growing up. But guys, if you really had to steal, then be smart about it and avoid stealing stuff from people who have highly infectious diseases, will you?

Ebola PhoneAside from the fact that you could get infected, don’t you think it’s a little too mean to be stealing from people who are too sick to notice that you’re swiping their phones from their bedside table?

That’s what one Ugandan man did recently and he’s going to be paying for it dearly. After stealing the phone from a quarantined patient who’s got Ebola, the thief was subsequently admitted to the hospital himself because he also got infected. The patient who he stole from reported that his phone was missing shortly before he died.

If Karma’s as big a b#tch as people say she is, then the thief might end up sharing the same fate as his victim. The sad thing? The phone’s estimated to be worth about $23 (USD). (And even if it were worth millions, it still can’t compensate for the life of a human being.)

    Now this is just sad.
