ThinkGeek has teamed up with Scottevest to create its very own geeky gadget hiding jacket called the Tropiformer Jacket. The jacket is available in four different colors including blue, red, gray, and cement. The jacket features 22 different pockets arranged all around the jacket that are designed specifically to distribute the weight of all your needed gadgets for comfortable wearing.

If you live in a warmer environment, the jacket also has magnetically attached sleeves that pull off easily and quickly to transform the jacket into a vest. The jacket even has a larger dedicated tablet pocket and a special Quick Draw pocket. The quick draw pocket has a clear material on the inside of the jacket allowing you to operate the touch screen of your smartphone without removing it from the pocket.

The jacket even has its own patented personal area network that allows you to route internal cables for headphones and chargers. One of the more interesting features of the jacket is that it can pack away into itself making it easy to store. The jackets also water resistant to keep all your electronics safe even if you get caught in the rain. The jacket is available now for $149.99.

R/C Wi-Spi Helicopter

Remember back in the days when everyone on the street had at least one remote controlled toy, and you had to practically beg your parents to buy you one too this Christmas, so that you will not feel left out? Well, now that you are working, don’t you think that it is about time you treat yourself to the toys of your liking and interest? Case in point, the $169.99 R/C Wi-Spi Helicopter which is said to bring normal toys to the next level.

In a nutshell, you can deduce from the name of this particular toy alone that this will be a remote controlled helicopter that sports its very own integrated camera, and it is capable of transmitting live footage to a smartphone – regardless of whether it runs on the Android or iOS operating system, via an app. The R/C Wi-Spi Helicopter is also controlled using your smartphone or tablet of course, where you are able to save photos from the in-flight camera to your handset instantly, and follow that up with a quick share to a social network somewhere. I wonder whether kids who are curious to see their neighbors would use this to their advantage, and they might stumble upon some embarrassing scenes along the way, too.

Limited Edition Blue Claptrap Figure

Are you a fan of Borderlands? If you say that you are, then the chances of you weeping with tears of joy when you manage to get hold of this $19.99 limited edition Claptrap figure would be pretty high. After all, it is not everyday that s figure is released, whether it is based on a movie, video game, or real life person. The Limited Edition Blue Claptrap Figure is based on the blue variant (Blu14) which hails from the original Borderlands game, measuring 4″ in height, while boasting posable arms, where it is accompanied by a rolling wheel, retractable drawer and antenna, and a display base which resembles the rocky, sandy terrain of Pandora.

Of course, it will not be like your typical Claptrap, as this particular model remains nice and silent all the time, and there will not be any banter to drive you nuts, either. Needless to say, this is an officially licensed Borderlands collectible, so what are you waiting for? Place an order already, and perhaps get it as a surprise for your loved one if he or she also loves all things Borderlands.

Eye of Sauron Desk Lamp

All right, I know that yesterday was April Fool’s day, and we sure as heck covered our fair share of crazy gizmos that will never see the light of day (or will they? We shudder at the thought), so while we are in full swing where April 2nd is concerned, here is my last take for April Fool’s this year – with the $299.99 Eye of Sauron Desk Lamp, of course.

This is one idea that would definitely score points with fanboys should it be released to the masses, but unfortunately, as of right now, it will remain within the figments of one’s imagination, just like the fantasy storyline that the building itself is based on. The Eye of Sauron Desk Lamp is touted to be an exact model of Barad-dûr, the Fortress of Sauron, where it has been expertly recreated from the movie, all the way down to the finest detail. The roving eye will continue to make sure you give your best at work, and this thing, without an eyelid, sure as heck is creepy! No way Incognito mode on your Chrome browser is going to let you off the hook now when it comes to visiting questionable websites while you are at work.

Kind of like the anti-Christmas, April Fool’s Day is hands down the worst day of the year. Companies around the world come up with lame products and issue even lamer press releases in a misguided and utterly disastrous attempt to be funny. Except for ThinkGeek. More »

Alien Chestburster-in-a-Can: Open at Your Own Risk

How many times have you wanted to reenact that classic scene from Alien (and Spaceballs) where the xenomorph embryo pops out of Kane’s chest and does a little dance around the dinner table? Play-Doh 3D Printer: Print Stuff, Don’t Eat It

If you’ve followed Technabob for any period of time, you know that we’re big supporters of the development of 3D printing technology. I truly think that if there’s one tech sub-sector that’s going to blow up in the next decade and revolutionize industry, it’s 3D printing. And while speed and detail are things still left to the more expensive industrial printers out there, there are more and more options for the home 3D printing enthusiast. Now, you can get your kid started early with their very own Play-Doh 3D printer.

It was only a matter of time before the Fuzzy Pumper Barber Shop got a 21st century makeover, and this new device is definitely a major step forward for kids with maker aspirations.

To print on the Play-Doh 3D printer, simply create your designs with the companion iOS app, and send them to the printer wirelessly. Then turn the crank to slowly see your design emerge. In no time at all, you’ll be printing out all sorts of objects. Just don’t try to eat them. Despite all of the advancements in technology, Play-Doh still doesn’t taste very good. I’ve tried.

The guys over at ThinkGeek have secured an exclusive for the first batch of Play-Doh 3D printers, so you’d better line up and head over there right away if you and your kids are ready to crank out some delightfully doughy objects of your very own.
