You may yawn "oh, it’s just another boring space station time-lapse movie—meh!" and don’t watch this video, but that would be a big mistake. This is, by far, the most breathtaking time-lapse from space I’ve ever seen. It even has a comet flying through. Goosebumps.

When you combine beautiful, weird or iconic architecture with changing light at different times of day, and people speeding by you almost always get a winner. But its not easy to make these shorts. You can travel every inch of this world and probably travel every inch of the galaxy and you’d find very few places more beautiful than Iceland. Even alien paradises don’t look this good. Stian Rekdal covered over 3,000 miles and took more than 40,000 photos of Iceland over three weeks to cook this time lapse video up and it’s so worth it. The idea of an empty city is sort of simultaneously awesome and creepy because it would be cool to have a space built for thousands of people all to yourself, but you’d have to wonder where everybody went. Photographer Bruce Wayne Berry Jr. wanted to investigate the feelings evoked by an empty city while using effects to show what Philadelphia looks like through infrared filters.

Aging is a fierce b-word that deepens the lines on your face, sags the skin on your body and grays the hair on your head. All in the name of accruing wisdom! The thing with aging though is that it literally takes years to see its effect. Well, this incredible time lapse fast forwards the process and shows what a girl would look like as an old woman.

Everyone agrees that Rio de Janeiro is a beautiful city with beautiful beaches filled with beautiful people doing beautiful things. Everyone can also agree that the favelas in Rio show another side of the city where people’s lives are seemingly next to, on top of and even inside other people’s lives. This wonderful time lapse by Joe Capra captures all of Rio de Janeiro—its natural beauty, its crowded slums, its landmarks—and it’s just perfect. Few cities can look this good.
