Titanfall on the PC to Require EA Origin

There are quite a few irritations when it comes to PC gaming. Most notable are all of the anti-piracy measures that plague games and make it hard for gamers to enjoy what they spent their money on. It’s also very annoying as a PC gamer when a game requires you to use an internet connection constantly and to install other software to play.

While most gamers don’t mind Valve’s Steam so much, but some of the other software out there is much more intrusive and unstable. Case in point is EA’s Origin. One of the most anticipated PC games of the year is Titanfall. The head of Respawn studios, the developer behind the game, recently tweeted a disappointing response to a question asked by a gamer.

The question was simple, “does it require Origin?” The answer was simple as well, “yes it does.” The Titanfall PC beta will also require Origin for players to participate. The game also requires a 64-bit Windows OS and it has to be Windows 7 or higher. Since I’ve run Vista for years and it works fine for me (don’t judge) I have no intention of upgrading for Titanfall.

Titanfall Beta Release Is Possible

Titanfall Beta Release Is Possible

Respawn Entertainment is the developer behind the highly anticipated first person shooter Titanfall, which will be released for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC on March 11th. Those who are anxiously awaiting this game can hardly wait for it to drop, most of them would not have been happy about not being included in the limited closed alpha test of Titanfall that was launched this past weekend. Gamers watching out for an open beta could be in luck, as Respawn community manager Abbie Heppe has said that Titanfall beta release is possible.

Heppe was responding to a query on Twitter, in which she was asked if there was any possibility of an open beta for Titanfall, “it’s possible,” replied Heppe. If that is indeed the case, then it would be safe to assume that an open beta launch might take place soon, given the fact that the game’s public release is less than two months away any way. For all we know, this might never happen. The only people who’re getting a first look at Titanfall right now are those who have been included in the limited alpha test. Microsoft is drumming up publicity for Respawn Entertainment’s new game by launching a limited edition Titanfall Xbox One controller, its available for pre-order now.

Titanfall Gets Limited-Edition Xbox One Controller

If there’s one game I’m really excited about that’s coming soon to the Xbox One, it’s Titanfall. I feel like it’s been way too long since I played a good game with mech battles, so I can’t wait to play it when it hits this March. Now, Microsoft and Respawn Entertainment have revealed a limited-edition game controller to go with the game.

I have to say I really like the design of this wireless Xbox One controller, with graphics inspired by the C-101 carbine, a weapon used by the IMC Titan pilots in the game.

The $65(USD) controller is expected to be released on March 11, 2014 to coincide with the release of the game, and you can pre-order it from the Microsoft Store or Amazon.

Much of the hype surrounding the actual next generation gaming consoles has now died down. Gamers are now looking forward to the new titles that leverage the improved performance offered by said consoles. EA and Respawn Entertainment are set to release the sci-fi shooter Titanfall in the near future. This highly anticipated game will be followed by a “must-have” commemorative companion released by Microsoft. The Xbox One Titanfall limited edition controller has been unveiled today, it will go on sale the same day Titanfall launches for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

This controller is the result of a collaborative effort of the Xbox design team with Respawn’s art department. Lead Artist at Respawn, Joel Emslie, said that the aim was to develop a controller that feels like “a piece of military spec hardware transported from the universe of Titanfall and into the players hands.” This wireless controller was inspired by the C-101 carbine that’s used by elite IMC Titan pilots of the Frontier in the game, it has been crafted to offer maximum authenticity in color as well as graphics. The Xbox One Titanfall limited edition controller costs $64.99, it will be available on March 11th in North America and March 13th in Europe.

Fan Made Titanfall Titan Mech Action Figure: That Was Fast

Titanfall is an upcoming online multiplayer FPS for the Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC. It seems to be one of the better launch titles for the Xbox One, putting an emphasis on agility and speed while rockin’ some sweet-looking mecha. A Japanese custom toy maker appears to have the same strengths. He managed to make a replica of the game’s giant robot, even though the game isn’t out yet.

I could very well be mistaken, but I’m guessing the toy maker uses the moniker nammkkyys. What I gleaned from his blog is that he based his replica on the publicly available trailers and images of Titanfall, as well as the large Titan bust that was shown at this year’s Tokyo Game Show. What makes his feat even more impressive is that he made it from scratch; it’s not a mod of an existing action figure. I think he took a few liberties here and there, but overall he did a great job. The action figure is about 9.5″ tall, which by the toy maker’s estimate makes it a 1/30 scale replica.

Check out nammkkyys’ blog for more images of the impressive Titan action figure. Be sure to check his previous posts to see his work in progress images; those will give you a better idea of his skill and dedication. Seeing as Respawn Entertainment i.e. Titanfall’s developer itself was the one who spread the word about nammkkyys’ work, I wouldn’t be surprised if he scores a free copy of the game for his work.

Respawn Entertainment talks Xbox Live Cloud, praises its multiplayer servers

Microsoft’s been quick to point out how it’s beefing up the Xbox Live Cloud in preparation for its next wunderconsole, and now Respawn Entertainment is stepping in to detail just what Redmond’s architecture means for multiplayer on Titanfall. The firm’s Jon Shiring, who works with the game’s cloud computing integration, says that the next-gen title boasts vastly improved online play since it leans on Ballmer and Company’s cloud hardware instead of users to host sessions. By taking advantage of Microsoft’s servers, the futuristic shooter benefits from more reliable bandwidth, snappier matchmaking times, extra CPU power and the elimination of latency-based host advantage and hacked-host cheating, to boot. Naturally, using dedicated servers can cost a ton, but Respawn says Microsoft managed to keep things comparatively inexpensive for developers, in part thanks to its Azure tech. We’ve been wondering exactly what former Infinity Ward founder Vince Zampella was up to at Respawn Entertainment, and now he’s finally shown off the fruits of his team’s labor: an Xbox One exclusive called Titanfall. Spring 2014 will see the title arrive on Microsoft’s next-gen console, but you can expect to find out more details about it as E3 progresses. Check out the unveiling trailer embedded after the break.
