Street View cars may be packed with technology, but how do they do on a race track? This video shows what happened when the guys at Google decided to go race the folks at Top Gear.
Pure destruction. Top Gear wanted to see exactly what happens when a train smashes into a car stuck on the railroad tracks so they set up a test of their own: they put a minivan on the tracks and pummeled it with a speeding train. It gets pretty brutal.
Hey, Atlanta! Let Us Buy You Some Beer and Give You a Sneak Peek of Gizmodo’s Upcoming TV Special
Posted in: Today's Chili We’re taking the literal Gizmodo TV show on the literal road to give you guys a chance to see some clips before we air on BBC America on March 18th. (10:20PM after Top Gear!) And because I know seeing my pasty mug isn’t enticement enough, we teamed up with our friends Matt Hardigree and Travis Okulski from Jalopnik, not just because we enjoy their company (they’re actually terrible), but because they’ve got the pull to let us travel in style: I’m writing this now from the heated back seats of a 470 HP 2014 Grand Cherokee SRT over its built-in Wi-Fi hotspot. On the BBC show Top Gear, host Jeremy Clarkson showed off a car so damn tiny that it hurts to ride it. Or well, it looks pretty painful at least. Called the P45, the car is more like a go kart than a real car but it’s cute in a ridiculous way. I want a future where everybody drives these mini cars! [YouTube via Slate] More »

UltraViolet was already live in the UK, and recently announced it’s spreading to cover Canada, Ireland and Australia. We’ll see how users like the signup process with its multiple logins, but a quick check of previous Blu-ray releases didn’t show any iTunes or Windows Media digital copies at all so at least they’ll appreciate the option.
