Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse ups the design ante for computer peripherals

logitech-ultrathin-mouseAre all computer peripherals created equal? The easy answer would be a resounding “No!”, although you would find that along the way, you would have experienced that many of the gizmos that you use are pretty much ordinary in their performance, with nothing that really stands out from the rest of the crowd. Logitech might churn out decent, everyday and workmanlike mice and keyboards in the past, but from time to time, they too, have indulged us with some high end performance peripherals. This time around, the Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse intends to bridge the gap between style and performance, as it delivers an ideal design and functionality for those who tend to work on the move.

The Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse can be certified to be Logitech’s first ultra-portable touch mouse, boasting a slim design that will perfectly complement today’s computers, sporting sleek lines and a brushed aluminum body. Ordinary notebook users might think of it as just another nice mouse to look at, but MacBook and Ultrabook users might just see it otherwise, where this ultra-portable mouse would definitely complement the design found on today’s MacBook and Ultrabook machines.

Thanks to its form factor, the Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse can easily slip into any computer sleeve or pocket, boasting a silky-smooth touch surface that has been created thanks to an invisible coating which will help you simplify Windows 8 navigation, or simply allowing you to take full advantage of the Multi-Touch navigation in OS X. Making use of Bluetooth with Logitech Easy-Switch Technology, the Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse is capable of hooking up sans wires to your laptop, desktop and tablet – simultaneously, and you can switch among them in a jiffy with but a flip of a switch. The mouse itself can be juiced up via USB, and for those emergency moments, a single minute of charge time delivers you enough power to keep working for another hour (a typical user experience applies here, of course). The Logitech Ultrathin Touch Mouse will arrive in black or white shades, bearing the respective model numbers of T630 and T631, and will retail for $69.99 a pop.

Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center 2.0 update for its Touch Mouse

A company is only as good as the kind of promises that it keeps, and Microsoft knows it. This is why when they did vow for their very own Touch Mouse to receive Windows 8 support, and not only down the road but in time for the operating system’s release date, there must have been at least some pressure in the software and driver department at Redmond, Washington, to cough something up in due time. Having said that, the Mouse and Keyboard Center 2.0 is up and running with under a week from its deadline.

Basically, Mouse and Keyboard Center 2.0 will empower the Microsoft Touch Mouse to let folks who do not use a computing machine that has no touchscreen display to enjoy the wonders of multi-touch swipes where doing so will bring up Windows 8′s Charm bar, in addition to switching between active apps as well as invoke Semantic Zoom. At least you need not purchase a Microsoft Surface tablet to experience such refinements in the operating system, and the missus will have another $500 more to spend on toys this Christmas.

Microsoft Touch Mouse gets promised Windows 8 support, works like a Charm

Microsoft Touch Mouse hands-on

Microsoft vowed that its Touch Mouse would get Windows 8 support in time for the software’s big release day, and it’s being very true to its word by posting the relevant update with less than a week to go. Mouse and Keyboard Center 2.0 saves time for those not graced with a touchscreen by introducing multi-touch swipes that bring up Windows 8’s Charm bar, switch between active apps and invoke Semantic Zoom. Will the Touch Mouse update trick you into thinking you have a Surface? No, but it’s certainly much easier on the wallet.

Logitech Touch Mouse T620 and Zone Touch Mouse T400 announced

What you see above is the Logitech Touch Mouse T620, where it was specially designed to deliver a full touch-surface for fluid navigation with the Windows 8 operating system that is bound to be released later this month. It is rather similar in its workings to the touchpad, providing you with the adequate freedom to gesture wherever your fingers rest on the mouse, never mind if they are on the edges, for a more natural and intuitive feeling, and this will include horizontal and vertical scrolling, and app switching. Your hand should take to the Logitech Touch Mouse T620 in a jiffy, and using it for hours should not result in any adverse effects.

As for the Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400, it will be more than the usual mouse, allowing you to access popular elements of the operating system in a quick and easy manner. Sporting a glass touch-surface which was specially designed for smooth horizontal and vertical scrolling with your fingers, you are able to perform clicks anywhere on the front of the touch zone, in order to access the Windows 8 Start Screen directly. The Logitech Touch Mouse T620 and Logitech Zone Touch Mouse T400 will retail for $69.99 and $49.99, respectively. [Press Release]

Stealth Touch Mouse

Now here is what we call a rather interesting device which you might want to look into – the $69.99 Stealth Touch Mouse. It might seem to be an electronic pebble of some sort, but this is actually a wireless mouse that comes with a touch-sensitive surface. Boasting a working range of 33 feet, the Stealth Touch Mouse does seem to be the ideal device when it comes to giving presentations. It works based on a plug and play premise, and will work irregardless of platforms – be it the PC, Mac, or Linux.

Computer mice have definitely come a long way ever since it was invented, and the Stealth Touch Mouse is part of a new generation of 2.4GHz wireless devices that boast of an all touch technology. There are no buttons to worry about, not need for a scroll wheel, nothing! All you need would be a touch-sensitive surface which is capable of recognizing preprogrammed fingertip movements. All simple gestures such as swipes, taps, and slides will be used to control the entire range of the mouse’s features. The Stealth Touch Mouse is powered by a couple of AAA batteries.
