Michael Bay and Crew Attacked on the Set of Transformers While Filming in Hong Kong

Having grown up in the 80s and being a huge fan of the Transformers toys I can admit to wanting to punch Michael Bay in the face over the horrible Transformers films. Bay and his crew were on the set of the latest installment in the franchise and were filming in the streets of Hong Kong, when Bay and his crew were attacked by four “drugged up punks.”

Bay said of the attack, “The story… being passed around is not all true! Yes, some drugged up guys were being belligerent a—- to my crew for hours in the morning of our first shoot day in Hong Kong. One guy rolled metal carts into some of my actors trying to shake us down for thousands of dollars to not play his loud music or hit us with bricks.”

Apparently, the four assailants were demanding a payment of $12,900 for the “inconvenience” caused by Bay and his crew as they filmed Transformers: Age of Extinction on the streets of Hong Kong. Bay said when he and the crew refused to be extorted the assailants became violent and the police ultimately came in arrested the men.

Bay said, “Every vendor where we shot got paid a fair price for our inconvenience, but he wanted four times that amount. I personally told this man and his friends to forget it we were not going to let him extort us. He didn’t like that answer. So an hour later he came by my crew as we were shooting, carrying a long air conditioner unit. He walked right up to me and tried to smack my face, but I ducked (and) threw the air unit on the floor and pushed him away. That’s when the security jumped on him.”

What’s more interesting to me than a group of people wanting to smash Michael Bay in the face is that vendors in the area where they were shooting made somewhere in the area of $3000 for the inconvenience of the movie filming in the streets outside.

Bay continued, “It took seven big guys to subdue him… He actually bit into one of the guard’s Nike shoes – insane. Thank god it was an Air Max, the bubble (at the front of the shoe) popped, but the toe was saved.”

Custom Optimus Prime Mask: Steampunks in Disguise

This awesome Optimus Prime steampunk mask is an amazing piece of art. You can wear it or just put it on a shelf. If you do wear it, it has a voice changer built in. This means awesome adult playtime coolness and fun. This mask makes Optimus a robot in disguise, who is in disguise again, with a steampunk makeover.

It may have started out as one of these cheap toy masks, but it’s pretty special now. I love the antiqued finish, and the bolt and rivet details are super nice.

Etsy seller CaptainBayley says that this mask is being offered for a limited time only. It is just $143.13(USD). That’s not a lot to ask, especially since this means that you can finally start that Steampunk Transformers movie you’ve been meaning to make.

Remote Controlled Transforming Robot Car reminds you of the Transformers

transforming-robot-carDon’t you love the dear little children who, armed with nothing but their imagination, are able to make up something from nothing and play with it? The idea of a transforming robot is definitely an interesting idea, where it can shift its shape from a vehicle to that of a humanoid form factor – and this effect has been brought alive via The Transformers cartoon, followed by the full length movies from Michael Bay that raked in plenty of money for the franchise. How about something that is inspired by the Transformers, and that would be the $69.95 Remote Controlled Transforming Robot Car?

Sure, it lacks a formal name that makes it easier to call or refer to, but at least you do not have to fork out a bomb for it. This remote-controlled sports car of unknown make (obviously Chevrolet did not have a say in the design) is capable of transforming into a robot which will impress its audience even further as it launches suction cup darts from a rotary cannon. At a single touch of a button, the hood and front tires will elevate 10″ off of the ground, which further exposes the cannon that has been integrated into the undercarriage. You can opt to fire up to 5 suction cup darts in rapid succession, in addition to turning the robot back into its automotive form, while racing the car forward and backward, execute hairpin turns, and perform 360º spins. The remote control itself comes with a trio of different channels, so that you can have up to three cars to engage in battle. It is highly advisable to prepare a bunch of rechargeable batteries at home since this bad boy consumes 8 AA batteries to get going.

Gearhead has battery blaster rockets attached to the shoulders and a shotgun cannon powered by Chaos Emeralds. He fully transforms without having to remove parts and converts back and forth easily.

The two minions are pretty awesome too. At first glance you might think that he used an actual Game Gear to make this, but these it’s all LEGO with some custom labels attached. Amazing work, Baron!

Optimus Prime Ring, Marriage in Disguise

Ok, this Optimus Prime ring isn’t officially a wedding ring, but come on, what else would you use it for? It’s the perfect ring for Transformers-loving couples, who want to make the ultimate transformation into marriage.

transformers ring 1

This .925 sterling silver ring is in the likeness of the Autobot leader’s head. It will cost you $91.15(USD) from Etsy seller Princeofdiamonds. That’s not nearly as expensive as a traditional wedding ring, but it’ll certainly make more of an impression than one of those.

Give this ring to your significant other and she will be yours for life. Then settle down and makes lots of little Autobots.

TARDIS Prime Transformer Toy: Phone Booth in Disguise

Remember Jason Casteel’s cool Transfomers-meets-Doctor Who T-shirt? Thingiverse member Andrew Lindsey not only remembers it, he was inspired by it to make a 3D printed toy. Behold, TARDIS Prime in 3D! Vworp Vworp!

tardis prime transformer toy by andrew lindsey

Andrew had to deviate from Jason’s drawing in order to make the toy transformable from a phone booth to a robot and vice-versa. At least he still has the red bow tie.

Andrew says he’s not fully satisfied with the toy. For one thing, the toy needs a lot of plastic to be printed, and it’s made of more than 70 parts. Also, it can’t stand on its own because it’s too top-heavy. I guess you could say that it’s… wibbly wobbly. YEEEEAA– Sorry. Andrew is thinking of designing a smaller version of the toy, but you can already print G1 TARDIS Prime if you want. Just download the files from Andrew’s Thingiverse page.
