Optimus Prime Chicken Coop: Chickens in Disguise

Doctor Who already has his own chicken coop, so why shouldn’t the Autobots? Well, thanks to one enterprising farmer/geek, they now do. A dude going by the name “Tez” created this awesome chicken coop made up to look just like Optimus Prime (in truck mode that is).

While it won’t transform into a standing mech, it will keep chickens in check and help them stay fat and happy while they lay their eggs.

All it needs is an ion blaster to fire at any approaching foxes (or Decepticons), and it’ll be perfect. Check out more pictures of the Optimus Prime chicken coop here.

10-Foot-Tall, Flamethrowing Transformers Bumblebee Costume for Sale

With only a week to go, it’s getting to be too late to start building your own really complex costume for Halloween. But if you happen to have $9,000 kicking around, and happen to live in Phoenix, AZ, you might still be able to pull off the best costume of the year.

This spectactular handmade Transformers Bumblebee costume is for sale up on Etsy. It was built by Travis Culling of AZCostumes, and measures 9.5-feet-tall. It’s comprised of 7 pieces, including a pair of drywall stilts in the legs to help make you taller. Bumblebee is constructed mostly out of wood, flexible foam and latex paint, and even has working LED lights and headlights for showing off at night.

It’s even got a working flamthrower in one of the hands, powered by butane and capable of shooting flames 3 to 4 feet. Here it is standing alongside his pal Optimus Prime, in case you had any doubts that this was a real Autobot.

This one-of-a-kind costume is available over on Etsy for the low-low price of just $9,000 (USD). And if you don’t live in Phoenix, you can have it shipped for $250. I just don’t think you’ll get it in time for Halloween.

This Fantastic Grimlock Hoodie Makes the 80s Totally Worth It [Transformers]

If you grew up in the 1980s on a steady diet of cartoons, you probably spent many mornings captivated by the Transformers. And while Optimus Prime might have been the noble leader of the Autobots, he would never be as universally loved as the show’s real star—Grimlock—who’s now immortalized forever in this fantastic hoodie. Grimlock Hoodie Transforms You Into a Dinobot

You Transformers fan! Buy hoodie! You become Grimlock! Badass! You’ll have to make the transforming sound on your own though.

Note the protruding T-Rex fingers. You can also pretend that you’re the secret sixth member of Gatchaman with this hoodie.

You can buy the officially licensed Grimlock hoodie from 80sTees for $60 (USD). They also have an Optimus Prime hoodie, but I think this one is way cooler.

Optimus Prime Cake Transforms Wedding and B-Day into One Special Occasion

Cake artist Claudia of Cakerific freely admits that she’s come a long way since her first Optimus Prime cake, and I have to agree. It’s amazing what a couple of years of regular baking practice will do for you.

optimus prime cake

This awesome Optimus Prime cake was made as a very special groom’s cake for a guy who had his wedding and his birthday on the same day. While it looks like Bob’s future birthdays will now be superseded by anniversary celebrations, at least he’ll never forget the date. Claudia doesn’t say what the cake is filled with, but I’ve heard that Energon is pretty tasty stuff.

Now I’m waiting for somebody to make a cake that can actually transform between an 18-wheeler and a giant robot.

Lenovo IdeaTab S2110 quietly goes on sale as the Gobots of transforming tablets

Lenovo IdeaTab S2110 hybrid tablet

Lenovo’s 10-inch IdeaTab S2 was one of the belles of its CES ball in offering a distinctly Transformer Pad-like experience for those not beholden to ASUS’ view of the world. While there wasn’t much attention given to the Android 4.0 tablet outside of the FCC filing we saw last month, it’s getting its time to shine at last: the device is now sitting on Lenovo’s virtual shelves as the S2110. The 10.1-inch slate’s selling point remains its (strictly optional) keyboard dock, which supplies a trackpad, an SD slot, USB and 10 extra hours of battery life to keep that movie marathon going. Even if you have no intention of constructing the Gobot to ASUS’ Transformer original, though, the S2110 is still a big leap over the so-so S2109 from the spring. A 1.5GHz dual-core Snapdragon APQ8060A, a rear 5-megapixel camera and a landscape 1,280 x 800 screen are all incentives to pay the premium over the S2110’s budget predecessor. Not that there will be much of a premium to pay — despite setting a $449 official price, Lenovo is already discounting the S2110 to as little as $343. That’s low enough to lure the cost-conscious away from the Transformer Pad elephant in the room, even if it reminds us of relatives that always bought us the cheaper robot toys when we were kids.
