Honda Solar Power Compatible EV Charger Developed

Honda Solar Power Compatible EV Charger DevelopedThe world has clearly moved on forward when it comes to lowering the amount of emissions for a greener planet that we can leave for our future generations. Honda too, has its fair share of experience with its hybrid ride, although it is not nearly as famous as that of its bitter rival, the Toyota Prius. Well, this time around, Honda has made its way to the spotlight by working on a normal speed EV charger that is able to garner its energy from the power of the sun, too, which would go some way in promoting the use of electric-powered vehicles.

Tesla Recalls Over 29,000 Model S Power Adapters That May Cause Fires

Tesla Recalls Over 29,000 Model S Power Adapters That May Cause Fires

Fire is the last thing you want to see in a car, it doesn’t matter if its powered by batteries or gasoline. It can wreak havoc and cause grave injury, and in order to safeguard owners against any such unfortunate event, Tesla has issued a recall of 29,222 power adapters of its 2013 Model S electric car, citing potential fire hazard. In a letter sent to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Tesla says that the NEMA 14-50 adapters used to 240-volt recharging of the Model S vehicle can overheat, which could cause a number of problems such as melted adapters and “in a worst-case scenario, fire.”

Interestingly, the adapters aren’t exactly being recalled in this “recall,” the NHTSA has listed it as such. Tesla says that the problem in these adapters will be managed through an over-the-air software update, which means that owners don’t have to take their vehicles to a dealership. The update will probably improve voltage regulation, which will reduce resistance and prevent the adapters from heating up. Tesla has developed a new NEMA 14-20 adapter that has an integrated thermal fuse, it acts as a physical cutoff to prevent damage should the adapter get too hot. This is separate from the software update, which according to the company, “fully addresses the issue.”

Boeing 787 Battery Issues Emerge Yet Again

Boeing 787 Battery Issues Emerge Yet Again

The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is the company’s pride and joy, but this state of the art aircraft hasn’t been able to take to the skies without drama. Last year the plane was grounded globally for over four months after a series of battery related fires that warranted a redesign of the entire system. It appears that the Boeing 787 battery issues might have emerged once again. Earlier today a Japan Airlines 787 Dreamliner was temporarily grounded after white smoke was spotted outside the plane, and the warning lights in the cockpit indicated that there might be a fault with the main battery and charger. According to reports, one battery cell might even have leaked.

It has almost exactly been an year since Japan Airlines and All Nippon Airways grounded their 787 fleets after batteries on two separate aircrafts overheated in under two weeks. The global fleet was grounded on January 16th 2013 and didn’t take off for at least three months as Boeing redesigned the battery system. Boeing has confirmed that it is “aware” of the issue that occurred earlier today, according to the company it appears to have involved the “venting of a single battery cell.” Only a detailed investigation will reveal what the cause of the latest incident is, if it is widespread, Boeing’s second consecutive new year won’t be off to a good start.

Tesla Model S Becomes First “Deskla” In The World

Tesla Model S Becomes First Deskla In The WorldThe Tesla Model S has been a fine example of an electric car that can really perform when it needs to, being a pioneer in its own right to boot, not to mention being fun to drive. However, I suppose if this particular model of the Tesla Model S could talk, it would most probably be rather upset at the fact that it has to suffer the indignity of being an office desk. In fact, what you see above can be dubbed to be the very first “Deskla” in the world.

Google Apparently Working On Revolutionizing Online Airline Ticket Purchase

Google Apparently Working On Revolutionizing Online Airline Ticket Purchase

There are a lot of ways to purchase airline tickets online. Most major airlines have their own websites with booking engines, while there are a plethora of online travel agents that not only allow people to purchase tickets using their websites, but also through their mobile apps as well. Quite frankly, buying a ticket online isn’t that hard, but Google is said to be working on a new tool that would revolutionize the way people purchase airline tickets online. This according to Michael O’ Leary, the CEO of Ryanair, in an interview with The Independent.

O’Leary claims that Google’s new tool is going to blow the comparison “out of the water.” The project is expected to go live by March, 2014. The CEO describes the tool as a simple way of finding the cheapest flight, Google will display the fares and let users click straight to the airline from where they can purchase their tickets. This won’t be Google’s first foray into the airline business. The company already has a tool by the name of Google Flights, which lets users search for cheap flights online. Its possible that the company might be radically revamping that particular tool or launching an entirely new one.
