MapQuest Launches Redesigned iPhone, Android App

Prior to Google Maps, MapQuest was the king of direction giving, although we’re sure if you used the service, you ended up with directions that were actually less accurate than Apple Maps. Either way, people trusted MapQuest back in the day and the service is now attempting to win back its old users by completely redesigning its mobile apps on iOS and Android. (more…)

China Will Begin Building This Wavy Pedestrian Bridge In 2014

China Will Begin Building This Wavy Pedestrian Bridge In 2014

If you live in a major metropolitan city, you’ll know how important having designated areas for pedestrians to walk around is. Bridges are also equally as important as they certainly make it easier to travel from one side to another as showing up to work drenched from a river or lake is something none of us want. With that said, we’re not quite sure if this latest pedestrian bridge design is either genius or terrifying.  (more…)

Hövding Invisible Bike Helmet – An Idea Worth Investing In?

Hövding Invisible Bike Helmet An Idea Worth Investing In?If your commute to work is just a few blocks down the road, driving does not make much sense, and walking would take a whole lot more time than it is worth, making the bicycle one of the most cost effective modes of transport to get around. This is even more pronounced if you live in a suburb, and most shops and stores are close by. The thing is, riding a bicycle will also offer you health benefits of exercise, not to mention making the world a whole lot greener since there are no carbon emissions to worry about. You do have to take the necessary precautions in getting around on a bicycle, and that would include wearing a helmet and a safety jacket under low light conditions.

The Hövding helmet gets the job done, where it does not mess up your hair, and is good for only one use in the event of an accident, as it relies on a bunch of accelerometers and gyroscopes in order to detect typical motions which happen during an accident. Upon doing so, it will release a gas inflator that fills up a nylon airbag with helium to protect your head so that it can deploy in approximately 0.1 seconds. Do you think that is fast enough to offer protection in the event of an accident? We did talk about it a year ago, so here are additional details on it. Assuming you have come out for the better after an accident where the Hövding helmet has been deployed, do contact them. Within the collar lies a black box which records 10 seconds of data on your movement patterns from an accident. Select insurance companies do cover part of the expense when it comes to a new Hövding after an accident, so do give your insurance company a holler to see how they deal with it.

Nissan BladeGlider EV Is A Thing Of Beauty

Nissan BladeGlider EV Is A Thing Of BeautyThey say that beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder, but when it comes to the Nissan BladeGlider, I think that it is pretty safe to assume that just about everyone would behold it to be a beauty. This is a streamlined and futuristic ride from Japanese company Nissan, where they have called this particular ride the Nissan BladeGlider which recently debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show. The Nissan BladeGlider is said to have been inspired by the aerial engineering of a glider and the “triangular shape” of a “high performance swept wing aircraft,” and it will be a fully electric ride that will certainly turn heads far more than that blinged out Hummer.

The Nissan BladeGlider will feature a lightweight 3.2 feet front track and a wider, stable rear track which is touted to deliver superior balance and aerodynamics which will further improve maneuverability while reducing drag. Nissan designers claimed that they did not throw in any other showy components such as wings or excessive mods at all, as these will do nothing but induce drag and slow down the vehicle. The Nissan BladeGlider is able to seat up to a trio of people thanks to its triangular layout, where there will be a couple in the back cockpit, while the driver remains seated right up in front.
