The easiest way to set a world record is to think of something so grandiose and obscure that no one could have ever possibly thought of attempting it before. And for the folks over at Custom SLR, that involved building the world’s largest Christmas tree made entirely of tripods—plus the requisite festive decor.
Even if you’ve got a massive DSLR in your camera arsenal, there’s no shame in occasionally relying on your lightweight smartphone or a compact point and shoot for pictures. And on those days when you just don’t feel like lugging a heavy camera and its cumbersome accessories, the Lollipod will fill in as an incredibly lightweight and compact tripod designed exclusively for smaller shooters.
No one makes a more flexible, more adaptable, more articulated camera tripod than Joby with its Gorillapod line. But the latest addition, the incredibly compact MPod Mini, is actually specifically designed to hold your smartphone for hands-free skyping, movie watching, reading, or other prolonged activities.
