Twitter Search Updated With Photo Results

Twitter Search Updated With Photo ResultsIf one were to remain where they are without any progression, it is unavoidable that your competitors would eventually catch up with you if they were to be behind in the first place, before overtaking you. Twitter knows this basic principle as well, which is why they have introduced updates to their service from time to time, and this has definitely helped them remain in business, so to speak, for the past seven years and counting. For those who have been keeping track, text-based search results are not going to cut the mustard these days, as folks are looking for people, pictures and social context.

Twitter intends to keep up with what people want, and they have updated their own search bar with socially aware suggestions, including previous search data and additional robust results. Of course, this does not mean that the general search experience has changed, but overall the changes do make the experience better than before. Do you like the new features that accompany Twitter this time around?

Twitter search upgraded with photo results, recent query suggestions

Twitter search upgraded with photo results, recent query suggestions

In case you haven’t noticed, text-based search results simply don’t cut it anymore — users are looking for people, pictures and social context. Naturally, Twitter is keeping up with the times, updating its own search bar with socially aware suggestions, previous search data and more robust results. The general search experience hasn’t changed, of course, but the changes do tweak the experience for the better.

Suggested accounts, for instance, are now underlined by users you know that follow them, and simply leaving your cursor in the search field offers a preview of recent and saved searches. Results have more meat too, offering tabs for matching users and photos, as well as displaying them within the standard results stream. A revolution in social search algorithms? Probably not, but it should make it a little easier for you to keep up with the latest celebrity gossip.

Sol Wave House A Twitter Experience Hotel

Hotels and technology have always jived well together, as we have seen our fair share of instances in the past, where Hotel Bel-Air has iPads in guest rooms so that guests are able to place room service orders, or how about the Kinect Hotel Room that targets gaming enthusiasts? No prizes for guessing just which console that hotel is partial to, though. Well, with Twitter having turned 7 years old this year, we are pleased to announce a new hotel known as the Sol Wave House, which has been described to be a “Twitter Experience Hotel”.

This hotel would go down well with your fellow Tweetaholics, where it is tucked away on the Spanish island of Majorca, and the Sol Wave House will use the power of social media in order to enhance its overall hotel experience. Opened for slightly more than a year already, it boasts of Twitter-themed rooms, drinks, and a virtual community that they call #SocialWave so that guests are able to interact and flirt with one another. Needless to say, you should not have any fear of missing out on a Wi-Fi connection throughout the hotel’s indoor premises.

Check Out How Much Better Twitter Could Look (and Work)

In the early days, Twitter was famous for its dead simple design: a box, some text, a button. But over the years, it’s gotten busier with the hashtags and the @ mentions and the retweets. Some might say say too busy. So why not just start over and rebuild this thing from the ground up?

Thomson Reuters Twitter Account Gets Hacked

Thomson Reuters Twitter Account Gets Hacked

Thomson Reuters is a well known and respected media firm. Unfortunately, they too have been victim of a cyberattack. Over the past few months Twitter accounts of various media outlets have been hacked, including that of the Associated Press. On Monday, the Thomson Reuters Twitter account was suspended after it had been hacked and a series of tweets containing political cartoons were posted. It is believed that the notorious Syrian Electronic Army is behind this hack.

The SEA was in the news just last week, after it hacked Viber’s database and defaced their website. They have been involved in hacking Twitter accounts of prominent media outlets in the past as well. However, their own Twitter feed doesn’t mention that they hacked @thomsonreuters, its unorthodox because the SEA takes to its Twitter feed to let everyone who what activity they’ve successfully completed. As of now the Thomson Reuters account stands suspended, a company spokesperson has said that they are investigating the hack. SEA’s MO includes widespread phishing attacks through e-mail, it is likely that someone at Thomson Reuters accidentally fell victim to an e-mail phishing attack.

Man In UK Arrested After Rape Threats Made On Twitter

Man In UK Arrested After Rape Threats Made On TwitterThreats to kill or rape someone is something that should never be taken lightly, and it seems that recently in the UK, a 21-year old man from Manchester has been arrested after posting rapes threats on Twitter. The threats were directed at a certain Caroline Criado-Perez who led the charge to get more female faces on England’s bank notes, and recently was successful in getting Pride and Prejudice author, Jane Austen, on a new £10 note that would enter circulation in 2017. Personally we don’t see what the big deal was, but apparently there were many who weren’t too thrilled about it, leading to many tweeting death and rape threats on her Twitter account.

In fact it seems it got so bad to the point where Criado-Perez received about 50 rape threats in an hour! The arrest was confirmed by a Scotland Yard spokesperson who was quoted as saying, “A 21-year-old man has today been arrested in the Manchester area on suspicion of harassment offences. […] The arrest is in connection with an allegation of malicious communications received by officers in Camden on Thursday, July 25.” In light of this recent verbal abuse, Criado-Perez’s followers have set up a petition in which they ask Twitter to create a “report abuse” button for the web version of their service, in which Twitter claims will be rolled out “soon”.
