Splinter Cell: Blacklist Highlights Wii U Exclusive Gameplay In New Trailer

As unfortunate as it was to hear Splinter Cell: Blacklist was delayed until August 20, we can certainly forgive Ubisoft for pushing back the game’s release date considering how awesome it’s turning out to be so far. Ubisoft confirmed earlier this month a Wii U version would also be made available, and this week, they released a new game trailer that highlights all of the unique gameplay mechanics you can expect in this version of the game.

In the Wii U version of Splinter Cell: Blacklist, you’ll be using the Wii U GamePad in a number of ways that allow you to manipulate Sam Fisher’s gadgets, like controlling drones and operating spy cameras, as well as be able to access your inventory on the fly. Players will also be able to mark their targets from the GamePad, to then execute them, which we assume would have been the result of marking them in the game. You never see anyone marking an enemy to throw them a surprise bar mitzvah, do you?

Rayman Legends Delay Resulted In 30 New Levels, New Boss Battles

Rayman Legends Delay Resulted In 30 New Levels, New Boss Battles

Rayman Legends’ delay may have brought the game to additional platforms, but ultimately, fans of Rayman Origins looking for more Rayman goodness are left without their fix, that is, until Ubisoft releases its second demo of the game on the Wii U later this month. But its seven-month delay is being used in the best way possible: by adding more content.

Rayman Legeds’ senior game manager Michael Micholic revealed to Official Nintendo Magazine UK the delay could certainly be seen as a blessing. “Trust me, the things we are adding aren’t minor,” he says. “We’re not talking about adding some polish here and there, but 30 new levels and several new bosses.” (more…)

Ubisoft Announces Flashback Remake For XBLA, PSN

Ubisoft isn’t a stranger to bringing classic video games series to the modern as they have taken franchises like Prince of Persia to new heights, even remaking the classic game for a number of platforms. It looks like they’re aiming their sights at another classic game to receive a remake, Delphine Software’s Flashback.

Ubisoft’s remake of Flashback is currently in development by VectroCell to be released on the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network and will be powered by Epic’s Unreal Engine. VectroCell, if you recall, was the development studio behind horror game Amy. The game will be an HD remastering of the original game which will be completely in 3D.

Flashback’s story will largely remain unchanged as you’ll play Conrad B. Hart as he fights to save humanity from an invasion of alien Morphs whose goal is to enslave mankind. Not only will Conrad be tasked with saving the world once again, but his girlfriend as well, who we hope is making Steak-ums tonight.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Spotted On Torrent Sites After Ubisoft Uplay Service Hack

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon Spotted On Torrent Sites After Ubisoft Uplay Service HackMost modern companies that rely heavily on information technology to ensure that their business is capable of moving forward at all times would definitely also invest a fair amount of money into security, considering the very real threat of hacking these days. It seems that a group of hackers has gotten their hands on Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and other gaming titles, circumventing DRM (Digital Rights Management) in the process. This happened after hackers broke into Ubisoft’s Uplay service, and it was not too long after that that the recently announced Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon has already been spotted on torrent sites as we mentioned in our earlier story.

If there is anything to add to the hacking of Uplay, it would be this – there is a silver lining in every cloud, and the silver lining here would be the equivalent of assurance from Ubisoft that no user information was compromised along the way. As they work to resolve security issues, Uplay services will remain available, and this is what Ubisoft mentioned, “We are aware of the issue and are working to resolve it quickly. No personal information was compromised. Uplay’s PC download service will be unavailable until the problem is fixed, however all other Uplay services remain available.”

Rayman Legends Wii U Demo Coming In Late April With Four Levels

Rayman Legends Wii U Demo Coming In Late April With Four Levels

Ubisoft announced in February its once Wii U exclusive Rayman Legends was not only receiving a lengthy delay from it’s original release date of February 26 to sometime in September, but that it was also no longer going to be exclusive, instead also seeing a release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. To make up for this upsetting news to Wii U owners, Ubisoft announced it would be making a completely exclusive Rayman Legends challenge mode in April completely for free. Today, Ubisoft is announcing some more details as to what it’ll include.

The upcoming second demo for Rayman Legends will include four levels, with one of them being completely exclusive to the Wii U called “Murfy’s Dungeon.” The demo will feature the game’s newly introduced online challenge mode which will continually update itself with new daily and weekly challenges, with each challenge including its own set of leaderboards. The new demo is said to be coming in “late-April,” which we hope doesn’t mean April 30th as we definitely need our Rayman fix sooner rather than later.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist Confirmed For Wii U To Launch On August 20

Splinter Cell: Blacklist’s release date may have been pushed back to August 20, but it looks like Ubisoft is adding one more video game console to its release schedule as a Wii U version of the game has been confirmed by the company today.

In addition to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, Wii U owners will be able to get a chance to play Splinter Cell: Blacklist on their game console of choice, and as is expected, it’ll make good use of the Wii U GamePad by showcasing “enhanced game-play features” that will allow players to use Sam Fisher’s tools, switch weapons, take out enemies and navigate environments. Ubisoft uPlay Hacked To Offer Unlimited Access To PC Games

Ubisoft uPlay Hacked To Offer Unlimited Access To PC Games

Ah – another day, another video game digital platform hacked. This time, the platform that has been hacked is Ubisoft’s uPlay which has allowed hackers to access to the company’s complete line-up of PC games as well as titles that have yet to be released.

A Russian gaming forum shared the details of the newly discovered exploit which uses a tool that tricks Ubisoft’s uPlay platform into recognizing the user as a member who is authorized to play games they don’t own. This has resulted hackers to download copies of the yet-to-be-released Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon for free and without DRM. Because of this exploit, pirated copies of the game have been making their way to numerous Bittorrent tracking websites as well as video walkthroughs have been popping up on YouTube and other streaming-video sites. Ubisoft Believes Assassin’s Creed Gamers Will Let Them Know When They Tire Of The Franchise

Ubisoft Believes Assassins Creed Gamers Will Let Them Know When They Tire Of The FranchiseAt the rate Ubisoft is releasing Assassin’s Creed games, we’re sure many are worried that the franchise might get too diluted and that gamers will get sick of the game pretty fast. While we’re sure that some gamers are a little bored of the franchise, Ubisoft does not seem too worried about fans getting tired of the franchise. Speaking to Eurogamer, Ubisoft seems to be under the impression that if and when fans tire of the Assassin’s Creed franchise, they will let Ubisoft know. Until then, Ubisoft has no plans to stop the yearly releases of Assassin’s Creed games.

According to Ubisoft Montreal head, Yannis Mallat, he claims that there are more players coming into the franchise and he does not see the day where Ubisoft has to end the franchise anytime soon.  ”When you have quality content, the frequency of coming out with the game is not an issue at all. On the contrary, people expect more and more of that content. So, it’s natural to be able to provide that content. The gamers are happy, and it’s our job to make them happy.” What do you guys think? Do you agree with Mallat that it’s the quality and not the frequency that matters? Or are you sick of the franchise already?

Far Cry 3 Blood Dragon: the one April Fool we wish wasn’t

If there’s one single joke we’ve seen today that’s so radical and excellent that we’d rather see the real product than laugh at the trick, it’s the DLC for Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. In an effort to bring us back to the 1990′s, a magical time when .gif images were used as webpage decorations, the folks behind this fantastic webspace have created a site, a teaser video, and more pixelated greatness than you can shake a joystick at – enter the Blood Dragon!

With this presentation today we’ve seen as many people suggesting it’s a real-deal presentation as we have people saying it’s a joke. At the moment there’s no “official” word from Ubisoft, but given the build-up to this moment, we must assume it’s either going to represent one of the most daring downloadable additions to a game in recent memory OR we’re going to see a real DLC (long awaited, either way) rather soon. We’re certainly hoping for the former.

NOTE: See our full 2013 April Fool’s Day roundup now for every one of the most wild and crazy tricks tossed out today!

As noted by Gamespot, there’s already a Brazilian classification rating for the game as well as notes for the title (Blood Dragon and everything) being ready for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC soon! If you’ve been waiting anxiously for this title, you also know that Ubisoft’s CEO Yves Guillemot has made it clear that you’ll have it in your hands soon.

““Fans certainly won’t have to wait for more years for the next Far Cry.” – Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot”

Also according to Gamespot, Far Cry 3 lead writer Jeffrey Yohalem let it be known that what he was working on “will be surprising” when it’s announced. He added that, “it definitely is a ‘strike while the iron’s hot’ thing.” Could it be that this game is both a joke and a real release in one? Again, we certainly hope so!

“The year is 2007. It is the future. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war and new paths for peace must be found. A U.S. cyborg army may have found a solution: a powerful bioweapon on a distant island. A Mark IV Cyber Commando, Sergeant Rex Power Colt has been sent over to gather information and figure out what the hell is going on.”

Have a peek at the Far Cry 3 BLOOD DRAGON official webpage right this minute and decide for yourself. Don’t forget, too, that you’ll want to enter the Konami code to get a special treat! Hint: it involves a sweet GIF!

If the website does happen to go down some day, we’ll not want to be lacking such excellence, even if only in screenshot form. Have a peek at the tiny gallery below to see what this monster is (and perhaps in the future was) all about!

Assassin’s Creed 4 First Gameplay Trailer Shows Off Underwater Exploration

Up until today, we’ve seen Assassin’s Creed 4 in various screenshots as well as some teaser videos showing its in-game engine, but we have yet to see any official gameplay footage. Ubisoft has finally delivered the games first official gameplay trailer, and as you would expect, it looks pretty awesome.

The gameplay trailer for Assassin’s Creed 4 follows Captain Edward Kenway, who is the assassin / pirate you’ll be playing as in this title. In addition to the already expected maneuvering through the world at a freerunner’s pace as well as taking down enemies with a stab here and a pistol shot there, Assassin’s Creed 4 will include underwater explorations which include some impressive visuals. The sea’s wildlife, such as sharks, will keep you on your toes and may have you rethinking about going in the water again. (more…)
