Additional Olympus E-M1 Specifications Leaked

Additional Olympus E M1 Specifications LeakedWe’ve heard several whispers that Olympus could be set to release a new camera under the model number, E-M1. In fact it wasn’t too long ago that a detailed description (alleged) of the camera surfaced which basically shared some details about the camera’s body, design, placement of buttons, and etc. Well thanks to the folks at Photo Rumors, it seems like they have managed to get their hands on additional specifications of the Olympus E-M1 camera, although their authenticity is questionable since Olympus has yet to make an official announcement of sorts.

According to the specifications, it seems that we can look forward to the E-M1 camera sporting a 16MP sensor with a DSLR-type grip. It will also have 81 AF points, shoot at 10fps, come with built-in WiFi for wireless transfer of photos/videos, an ISO range of 200-25,600, a 3” tiltable TFT LCD touchscreen display, a shutter speed of 1/8000s-60s, and a Micro Four Thirds Mount. Unfortunately details such as price or when the camera will be announced continues to remain a mystery, but hopefully Olympus will step forward with the official details soon, until then be sure to take this with a grain of salt.

Have Some Touchscreen Fun With Your Bathtub

For those of you who love spending plenty of time in the bathtub, perhaps you might want to keep yourself entertained while soaked with something slightly different from the usual suspects such as the yellow rubber duckie, a good book, a plate of cookies and a glass of milk. How about having some touchscreen action by your bathtub? That is now made possible thanks to a Kinect camera that has been mounted above the bathtub, working in tandem with other parts of the collective such as a projector, waterproof speakers as well as a PC. All of those were amalgamated to work as a single device, thanks to developers over at the Koike Laboratory in Tokyo, where it will turn the surface of the water in your bathtub into a touchscreen of sorts.

This means that whenever your fingertips are dipped into the water, they end up as cursors. This would let you play games, organize your photo album collection, or even watch videos. Want to delete content on your computer? That is a snap – just reach up from under the surface of the water, grab the file that you want to delete by holding its icon, and bring it to a watery grave by sinking it. What do you think of such a system – cool enough for everyday use, or is it a mere gimmick?

    Civilization Online Revealed

Any computer gamer worth his or her salt would have known that the Civilization series has been revered to be one of the best strategy games around, and in order to capitalize on its popularity, there was an announcement made last year concerning an MMORPG which will be based on the Civilization series, where it will obviously be known as Civilization Online. Well, not much was known about Civilization Online – not until today, that is, when XL Games CEO Jake Song, who happens to be the designer of Lineage and ArcheAge, sat down with XL Games senior vice president Jung Hwan Kim and 2K Games producer Garrett Bittner, talking about Civilization Online being a true blue MMORPG.

Forget about turn based action unlike the Civilization titles of yore – you will function as a single unit within your civ, and your task is to assist it advance through the different eras. Four four civs are available at launch, and we would presumptuously wager that additional civs will be thrown into the mix down the road should it be successful, with the half dozen eras being Ancient, Classical, Medieval, Renaissance, Industrial, and Modern. You have the freedom to create your own avatar, choose your preferred civ, and do all within your power to help your civ advance. Civilization Online will run on CryEngine 3 and is developed for the PC platform.

Apple Granted Appeal That Reinstates ITC Case Against Motorola

Apple Granted Appeal That Reinstates ITC Case Against MotorolaWhile the ITC is supposed to be an impartial body and makes its decision based on facts, it seems that lately it almost looks like the ITC has been favoring Apple rather heavily, what with the planned ban on older iOS products being vetoed by the Obama Administration (causing Samsung to lose $1bn in market value in the process). Now it looks like Apple has won their appeal for reinstating the ITC case against Motorola, which according to our report last year, cleared Motorola from any alleged patent infringements against Apple.

To make matters worse, the appeals court has even “reprimanded” the ITC and reversed the decision on two of its rulings with regards to the multipoint touchscreen patent, and the ellipse fitting for multi-touch surfaces patent, although in the process it has also dropped one of the patents that Apple alleges Motorola has infringed upon, although two out of three doesn’t seem too bad. The case is expected to proceed, although there’s no word on when we might be seeing the end of this.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 Always-On Voice Recognition

One of the chips which can be found within the heart of a smartphone that has certainly looks set to impress the masses in the days and months ahead would be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800, and we do know that it will also make a bow in the Galaxy S4 Active, LG G2 as well as the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Well, apart from an obvious increase in clock speeds, there is another feature about the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 which will certainly impress – that is, the integrated support for always-on voice recognition.

In a nutshell, this would mean that should hardware manufacturers decide to go ahead and support this particular function, then you can expect the latest slew of Android-powered flagship devices to receive a similar feature, the Moto X included. With the always-on voice recognition, it paves the way for features like Motorola’s Open Mic to take a bow, making it possible to interact with your device solely simply by speaking to it without having to go through the unlocking process. Well, do you think an always-on voice recognition feature is something that would influence your purchase decision down the road, or would you still prefer your fingers to do all the “talking”?

iPhone Thief Has His Life Unwittingly Documented On Tumblr

iPhone Thief Has His Life Unwittingly Documented On TumblrWhile we don’t advocate the stealing of iPhones, we guess it is sort of common sense for a thief who stole the phone to disable the Find My iPhone feature, reset the operating system, and get rid of the current SIM card, all of which are pretty easy. However at the same time not all thieves were built the same way, and one thief from Dubai by the name of Burj Khalifa is a shining example of one of them. According to the author of the blog “Life Of A Stranger Who Stole My Phone”, her phone was stolen when it was left on the beach of Ibiza, Spain, and while that might have been the end of that, it seems that thief forgot to disable the photo upload option and the subsequent photos of himself have since been uploaded constantly onto the owner’s Dropbox account.

The existence of the blog is to basically try and shame the thief who stole the phone, as well as expose his life without him knowing about it. They are pretty innocuous but at the same time we’re pretty sure he’s going to have the shock of his life when he realizes he’s more popular than he had expected, especially when his photos are making their rounds on Tumblr! In any case we guess at the very least she managed to turn this bad situation into a somewhat humorous one. The entire list of photos (to date) can be found on her blog, so hit it up if you’re curious.

Pinterest For iOS Gets Animated Pinning Shortcuts

Pinterest For iOS Gets Animated Pinning ShortcutsAn app should never, ever, remain just where it is – being stagnant is a surefire recipe for disaster in this fast paced world. Well, in March this year, we did mention that Pinterest would be introducing a new look for all its users (where it did bring back some old features along the way), and a couple of months later, Pinterest did roll out an app update for Android as well as iOS platforms. Just last month, Pinterest now allowed users to search through their own pins for a higher degree of usefulness.

The latest iOS version of Pinterest now has the advantage of an animated shortcut which would come in handy if you want to repin, like or send pins to your mates whenever you press on an entry. Some will say that this is rather similar in function to Tumblr’s sharing tools, but it must be noted that the menu itself will boast of fancier graphics which will definitely fall in line with the social networks’ overall aesthetic. Apart from that, Pinterest has also thrown in an Edit Home Feed button that makes it easier to housekeep your pins on the iPhone, in addition to sending pins to your friends from the iPad. Chromecast Rooted Already

Google’s recently announced Chromecast carries a name that many who are not in the know would associate it to have something to do with Chrome instead of the Android operating system. GTV Hacker, however, begs to differ – they claim that the new Chromecast leans more towards the Android platform than Chrome, and with that, it is rather unsurprising to hear that Chromecast has already been rooted, which is a common occurrence among plenty of the other Android-powered devices that are on the market at the moment.

If you were to look at Chromecast, it can be touted to be an extremely stripped down version of Google TV, and if you were to present it out in layman’s terms, that would mean we have Android with the Chromecast binary running in the background. GTV Hacker said, “the bootloader, kernel, init scripts, binaries, are all from the Google TV”, but this does not mean you are able to install APKs according to your whims and fancies. Since Chromecast is more Android compared to Chrome, theoretically speaking, it can be rooted, but how useful will that root method be remains to be seen.
