Wear This, Get Slim: Caffeine-Infused Clothing

When it comes to weight loss, most experts would say that exercise and a good diet are the keys to shedding those extra pounds. Unfortunately, people have a hundred and one reasons why they can’t stop eating this, or why they can’t get on this particular workout routine. Well, complaining about being out of shape won’t help you any. But complaining while wearing this caffeine-infused top might.

Dubbed as the “Caffeine-Infused Slimming Tank Top,” the tank’s stretchy fabric is infused with micronized caffeine and brown algae. According to its product page, the former is to stimulate lipolysis, which is the natural breakdown of stored fats, while the latter is to moisturize and smooth its wearer’s skin.

Sounds pretty unscientific, but hey, it could work. At the very least, it should give you a little buzz.

The caffeinated tank top is available from Hammacher Schlemmer online for $85(USD). There’s also a set of matching body shorts for $70.

Most Branded Rug Ever: Jeans Labels Carpet

If your dream is to own at least a few hundred designer labels or so, then your search is over. And no, I’m not talking about some lottery where you’ll be able to afford all the brands that you want to own; rather, I’m talking about the Jeans Labels carpet.

As its name implies, the carpet is made entirely from recycled jeans’ labels. Each one is painstakingly sewn on top of another, and another, creating a carpet that looks like a patchwork of labels from brands you might recognize yourself.

Under the slogan “Recycle”, here renowned denim label were assembled in the patch-style to a beautifully finished carpet with high stability and durability. What was discarded in Western industrialized nations, awakened by the diversity of creativity back to life.

Pasta Pops: Spaghetti-Flavored Popsicles

If there’s one place where spaghetti-flavored popsicles would exist, then it would be Japan. True enough, frozen treats that are packaged and sold as being spaghetti-flavored are available in the land of the rising sun.

To the adventurous, this is just another unique treat to try. For others, it’s something to avoid at all costs.

Icy tomatoes and bits of meat don’t exactly sound like a very delectable frozen treat. However, while the image above of the spaghetti popsicles have made the rounds on the Internet, its actual taste hasn’t been confirmed yet. It could be that it’s packaged as spaghetti popsicles in the sense that it’s the color of tomato sauce when it’s mushed with the pasta, though I prefer to assume that it’s made from actual spaghetti and meatballs.

Gari-Gari Kun, the company that makes these popsicles, also make Corn Pottage and Rice Cakes with Bean Paste-flavored popsicles.

Clean Hands, Happy Tummies: Pizza in a Cone

Eating a slice of pizza on the go isn’t the neatest option on the menu. But it’s technically a quick meal on the go, and if you’ve gotta eat, you gotta eat.

Aiming to make eating pizza less of a mess is KonoPizza.

Pizza ConeWith over 130 locations worldwide, KonoPizza serves up pizza in a cone in all sorts of outrageous flavors, including the likes of Tiramisu pizza that’s filled with cream, biscuit and coffee syrup. There’s also the breakfast-in-a-cone pizza called Pancetta Prima that’s filled with eggs, bacon, and cheese. If you’re not as adventurous, you can go for the usual pizza toppings as your cone fillings, like cheese, sausage, and ham. Plus, each KonoPizza is portion-controlled, so they’re actually pretty low in calories and fat.

So far, there are only a couple of U.S. locations of Kono Pizza, including one in Edison, New Jersey, and another opening very soon in Raleigh, North Carolina.

Mmm-hmm!

“SMS” iPhone Case Sends Smoke Signals Instead of Text Messages

A lot of phone cases incorporate features that give users added convenience. This particular case, however, takes a couple of steps backward.

iPhone Case Smoke SignalDubbed by artist/hacker Dennis DeBel as the S.M.S. or “smoke messaging service” case, the bulky case can be used to send smoke signals at the push of a button. It has a chamber where lamp oil is stored, which is heated when the button is pressed. This, in turn, produces the wisps of smoke when you’re ready to send a message of the smoky kind.

The SMS Case is just a concept design for now, considering the fact that, well, they’re incredibly bulky and you can’t really translate smoke into actual messages. But it’s still pretty neat, though.

Rekindle Candle Rekindles the Candle, Not the Flame

Candles are one of those things you can recycle again and again (in theory), because they’re basically just made from melted wax and nothing more. I say “in theory” because most people don’t really bother to re-melt and mold melted wax after a single use.

However, that might all soon change with designer Benjamin Shine’s Rekindle candle holder. It’s basically a two-tiered candle holder that has a chamber at the bottom. As the candle melts, the melted wax that doesn’t burn up drips slowly into that chamber.

When the candle has been used up, you can remove the cover and re-use the candle at the bottom. Repeat the cycle over and over again, and you might not have to buy another candle for a very long time.

Scent Rhythm Watch Lets You Smell What Time It Is

Can you tell the time based on scent alone? People encounter different smells throughout the day. From the smell of freshly-brewed coffee to car exhaust or printer toner, it’s all in a day’s work for some.

Hardware designer and physical computing lecturer Aisen Caro Chacin stripped away the specifics and went with common and general smells for her concept watch called Scent Rhythm.

scent rhythm watch 1 620x736magnify

The wristwatch is unusual in the sense that it does away with hour and minute hands in favor of a four-chambered timepiece that emits distinct smells at certain times of day to indicate the current time – or rather, the current time period.

The watch is attuned to a person’s circadian rhythm, or internal body clock, which regulates the 24-hour cycle of the body’s biological processes. Correspondingly, the watch keeps track of time in four segments of six hours each, and triggers the related scent emitter. From 6 am to midday, or the rise period, the Scent Rhythm emits whiffs of coffee with caffeine.

Scent Rhythm isn’t for sale, although design files and its parts list are available on Aisen’s website, in case you want to find out more about its inner workings and how it was made.

Myris Iris Scanner Uses Your Eyes as Your Password

A lot of people I know mix up their passwords because they have so many accounts online. Sometimes, it gets difficult to keep track of all the passwords you’ve created and used over the years.

Aiming to provide an alternative to passwords is eyeLock’s Myris iris scanner.

eyeLock Iris Scanner

The Myris is exactly what its name implies. But how do you use it?

Well, first of all, you’ll have to set up a profile and key in all of your passwords. You’re then supposed to “teach” Myris how to recognize your eyeballs by following a short series of instructions. From that point forward, you will then be able to log in your email, bank, and social media accounts simply by having the Myris scan both of your eyes.

The team behind Myris claims that a double-iris scan is one of the most foolproof biometric security systems available, offering a false acceptance rate that is only bested by a DNA test. In fact, the chances of a false match are 1 in 2.25 trillion.

Myris will be available later this year and will be priced between $200 to $300(USD).

Amsterdam’s Canal Aqua: Bottled Canal Water Costs Almost $70 Per Bottle

Amsterdam is known for a lot of things, including their scenic canals. The city’s Canal District is turning 400 this year, and the city is celebrating by selling bottles of water obtained from the canal.

amsterdam canal water 620x808magnify

It’s an unusual souvenir but hey, at least it lets you take an actual piece (or rather, several hundred milliliters) of the attraction with you, complete with sediment. The water is bottled as Amsterdam Canal Aqua and has the background story of the waterway printed on the back of its label.

It’s obviously not potable, so don’t drink it if you know what’s good for you.

Each bottle of Amsterdam Canal Aqua is priced at €50 (~$69 USD.)

Each Pair Tells a Story: Sebastian Errazuriz’s ’12 Shoes for 12 Lovers’

The relationship might be over. But the memories (or scars) from it will live on. If not in your heart, then in your mind.

I think that can be said in Sebastian Errazuriz’s case, as he drew inspiration from past relationships and ex-lovers for his new series called 12 Shoes for 12 Lovers.

12 Shoes for 12 Lovers 620x486magnify

As the title implies, each pair in the collection was inspired by an ex-girlfriend. Her personality, their relationship, and vivid memories are all brought to light and to life with each pair.

From the Rock (which is inspired by what seems to be Sebastian’s most painful relationship) to the Cry Baby, each pair of shoes tells a story. Sebastian is only too happy to fill in the blanks and clue you in on the woman behind the designs with the commentaries that accompany each pair.
