While the Motorola RAZR i hasn’t yet hit stores, when it does, it’ll now be able to tap into the Chrome Mobile app, following its latest update. We’re putting the Intel-powered Android 4.0 phone through the review wringer right now, but have already noticed the lack of Chrome browser support.

Due to the way Intel x86-based devices run apps, the browser required some adjustments, which are now complete. At the moment, the only existing phone that officially runs Android 4.0 on a Medfield processor is the incoming RAZR i, but now any future Intel smartphones will also get the full Chrome experience — and Motorola gets to keep its promise of preinstalling the browser on its new devices.

Just because your Android hardware hasn’t been upgraded to the most recent (or, next to the most recent) version of the OS doesn’t mean you have to miss new features. Google has shipped a new version of its YouTube app that brings the preloading feature we saw arrive on ICS and above devices back in June to Gingerbread and Froyo. You’ll still have to be online to watch preloaded videos from your subscriptions or watch later list, but they precache while you’re on WiFi and plugged in so you don’t have to wait through buffering to show someone Gangnam Style at the bus stop. Otherwise, the initial Watch page has changed slightly, there are more channels in the Channel Store and you can also queue up videos to play later on any YouTube-enabled TV (Google TV, PS3 etc.) device you’ve paired with your mobile.

Google’s fast-track approach to updating Chrome gives a different theme to each update: last time, it was all about visual acuity. For the just launched Chrome 22 stable version, the focus swings to gaming. Web apps can now lock in the mouse control for first-person shooters, simulations and other 3D content that needs the full attention of the pointer during play. Not keen on action games through the browser? There’s still some fine-tuning in place for those who live on the cutting edge, including Windows 8 users and Retina MacBook Pro owners. The update may already be sitting on your computer if you’re running Chrome; if not, you can get your gaming-friendly fix (and the security notes) through the source links.

Ever since the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 released last week, many apps have been updated to support the two. Google Chrome and Sparrow (coming soon) are just a couple big apps that support the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 now. Added to that list is Instagram, the popular photography app that lets users take and share heavily-filtered images.

As with any updated app that takes advantage of the larger 4-inch screen of the iPhone 5, Instagram gives you more screen real estate when browsing through photos. Then again, capture mode looks to be a little weird on this version, since their square capture window doesn’t take advantage of the larger display and instead leaves a lot of blank space.

Live filter options also look to be missing from the updated version for the iPhone 5. Live filters allow you to test out different filters before you take a photo, which can come in handy a lot. This updated version seems to be missing them, but the iPhone 4S running iOS 6 still shows the live filter button. It’s unknown what the reason for that is at this point; it could be a bug or completely intentional.

There’s also a new registration and login page. While you expect to see a “log in with Facebook” option, that’s sadly still not a choice. You must still sign in using an Instagram account. However, you can use your Facebook information on your Instagram profile, which is an easy process now.

Instagram is a free download and the update is available now in the iTunes App Store.

If you’re a 2nd- or 3rd-gen owner of an Apple TV, you should be receiving an update for iOS 5.1. Apple rolled out a slew of new features for its media-streaming device, the most important of which include shared photo streams, iTunes account switching, and some added AirPlay functionality.

The shared photo streams feature allows you to view the photo streams that you create on your iOS devices on your Apple TV. You can update your photo collections and even invite friends and family to view your photos and comment on them. Also, public photo streams can be viewed through Apple’s iCloud site and now Apple TV devices.

Some of the new AirPlay features are impressive as well. You now have the ability to send audio from your Apple TV out to devices that support AirPlay, such as compatible speakers, AirPort Express devices, and other Apple TVs. You can now also password-protect AirPlay access with an on-screen code, so that no one else on your WiFi network has access to your content.

Another great feature they’ve added is iTunes account switching, which lets each member in your family have their own music or movies libraries on the Apple TV. The update brings the ability to swap between accounts quickly right on the Apple TV. Of course, you could just have one big library that combines all of your family’s content, but we know how stingy some family members can be.

The iOS 5.1 update also includes subtitle support, movie trailers, more advanced networking options, and general performance improvements and bugfixes. If you don’t yet have the update, you can grab it now by going to Settings > General > Update Software on your Apple TV.
