The Thanko USB Warm Cold Storage Unit is ‘fun-size’

thanko-usb-mini-cold-heat-warm-storage-unit-2
It seems crazy how much difference a few degrees of temperature change can make. Things can melt, freeze, or start to go bad in no time flat. If you have an ointment, medicine, or specific type of food that you want to keep cold, but don’t want to put it in an office fridge in fear that it may be thrown out, there are other options.

Should your item that needs to be kept cool or toasty be really, really small, then the Thanko USB Warm Cold Storage Unit can assist you. This measures 2.9×3.1×3.1”, and has a little plate inside that can either bring the temperature of whatever you place on it down or up. This plugs into your computer via USB 2.0, and has an in-line switch that will allow you to choose hot or cold. If you want to change to either extreme, you will need to wait about 10 minutes before it will be effective.

The range is in between 10-122 degrees Fahrenheit. While this may be useful in some very particular instances, it would be hard to justify with its $40 price tag for much else. You may as well rearrange your office space and try to work in a mini fridge, or at least look for a larger version of this tiny thing, such as the ones big enough to hold a can or more. This also doesn’t appear to be air-tight, so be prepared for it to radiate a little bit of heat or cool air your way.

The King’s Assembly gives your keyboard and mouse a facelift

King's Assembly
There is always going to be a new way to do something. We’ve been using a mouse and keyboard for as long as anyone can remember, but that doesn’t stop people from trying to make a new setup. That’s all fine and well so long as it actually works for more than just a small group of people.

The King’s Assembly is wanting to take away the need to switch between mouse and keyboard by combining them. There are several versions of this sort of thing already on the market, but none have the entire keyboard and more. Seeing that this is said to be mindful of hardcore gamers as well, it is certainly worth looking into. You’ll have 30 keys available to your fingers in a curved setup on both hands, five keys with a joystick for your thumb, and as stated previously, either can act as your mouse.

It comes with a cable to connect the two, and plugs in via USB to lessen latency as well as negating the need for batteries. While they look rather bulky, they have Teflon pads for feet to help them glide effortlessly across your desk. This will come in two different options, including the ‘elementalist’ (right hand) and the ‘strategist’ (left hand). There is an adjustable contoured palm rest, but due to the variance in hand sizes and shapes, there are surely going to be some who are left out. Should you be interested, a full set will cost you around $200. This is currently a crowdfunding campaign that is successfully funded, so getting in on the action now might mean more goodies for you in the future.

You can turn any laptop into a touchscreen

Turn_Your_Regular_Laptop_into a touchscreen
It seems like touchscreens are everywhere. They come up so frequently that it has come to the point where you sometimes get to a device which is not touch-capacitive, and end up poking the screen anyway. Of course, just because that’s the trending fashion doesn’t mean we’re all going to be able to go out and get a new tablet, laptop, or phone immediately.

If you want the capabilities and advantages that touchscreens supply but don’t have the cash, then the Touch Screen Camera for your laptop will give you just that. It is quite literally a camera that will track your movement on the screen. As this does only cost $43, it’s far cheaper than a new laptop, but will still leave something to be desired.

If nothing else, this can be a webcam for video chats. Should you want to use it to make your laptop touch-capacitive, then you’ll only need to plug it in and use the provided pen to click on icons, write, and draw. The pen will need a battery, but the camera will draw from your laptop. While it is nice for those of you who really want a touchscreen and can’t afford to get a new screen or new laptop entirely, this will be one more thing to carry in your bag, and might be easy to lose or break with its long neck.

SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive announced, makes file transfer a cinch

Ah, the USB flash drive – it is a tool that just about every single one of us have. In fact, we might have way too many of these puppies so much so that we actually forget just which particular USB flash drive stores what. Apart from that, with more and more mobile devices sporting a USB connection of sorts and an ever increasing amount of storage space, it becomes even more important for you to actually transfer data in a jiffy as and when required. SanDisk has just announced the SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive, which is a pretty handy tool as it comes in the form of a USB flash drive that will boast not only a micro-USB but a USB 2.0 connector as well, arriving in a sleek and sturdy form factor.

The SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive has been specially designed for Android-powered smartphones as well as tablet users who are looking for an easy method to transfer everyday content such as photos and videos from their mobile devices. With the SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive, you will be able to store and make backup of your files in a safe manner, free up more space and be generally more organized. Alternatively, you can alsu use this to transfer multimedia files between your smartphones, tablets and computers without too much hassle.

Just how convenient is it to use the SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive? Well, all you need to do is hook it up to an Android-powered smartphone or tablet’s micro-USB port and a computer’s USB connection, and you’re good to go. There are also other methods in the market that will allow you to transfer files from a mobile device to a computer which will require the use of wires, applications or a wireless set-up. This bad boy bypasses all of them, as it can be connected to a mobile device that supports USB on-the-go (OTG) in order to access up to 64GB of ‘plug and play’ storage capacity. Apart from that, you no longer need to worry about losing any caps – a pesky drawback for normal USB flash drives in the past, as the SanDisk Ultra Dual USB Drive sports a retractable cover for its dual USB ports.

Content management is also a breeze thanks to the SanDisk Memory Zone app that can be downloaded via Google Play. The SanDisk Memory Zone app would let one be better organized, and will arrive in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB capacities, where prices start from $19.99 and go all the way to $49.99.

The Shortcut-S is an entire keyboard of buttons that will make your life easier

Shortcut-S
Once you’ve become more proficient with using keyboard shortcuts, it’s painful to watch others trudge along without them. If they’re a friend, it’s your duty to make their lives easier by teaching them the simple way of doing things. Should it be a family member, you might as well soak up the praise for what they will likely view as technological genius (seriously, you’d think everyone would at least know copy and paste by now).

If you work with programs such as Photoshop or  video editing software, you know fully well that shortcuts are your friend. Even with their aid, it’s sometimes difficult to get things done correctly. If you’re also not very good with remembering which is which, then you can create a lot of really terrible problems for yourself. The Shortcut-S Keyboard may look overwhelming, but would make the use of shortcuts on a regular keyboard look like taking the long way around.

This is a 319-key keyboard that will put every shortcut you could imagine in your field of vision. They’re color coded for different functions, and have icons that will be easy to recognize for those who often use Photoshop. There will be options for other program overlays in the future, but Photoshop is the only one available currently. It’s a bit large, but is also very thin, meaning it can still fit into your bag though it might jut out a bit. This will cost you anywhere from $89-99, and is currently a crowdfunding project.

HipShotDot might be able to improve your in-game accuracy

HipShotDot
Some video games like MMOs or RPGs aren’t very time-sensitive, and while they might require some skill, they don’t make you constantly think or act quickly. Other games like Battlefield and Call of Duty on the other hand, have a fairly steep learning curve. If you want to stand a chance against those who have nothing else to do in a day but play games, specifically first person shooters, there are ways to ‘help’ yourself out a bit.

As the HipShotDot is a physical device that only assists you in real life, it’s not considered cheating. This will help you keep your focus to where the dead center of the screen is. As there’s so much going on in your peripheral vision in the game, it should only make sense that your accuracy would fail you a little. This is a very simple, yet effective device that is nothing more than a red LED and some suction cups.

This is a USB-powered red dot sight attachment for your TV or monitor that you can align to be placed directly over where your sight is on-screen. It is attached to a black cable with suction cups to keep it in place, but after a few minutes of playing it should ‘disappear’ as you’ll lose your focus on it. This can work with just about any console or PC as all it needs is power for the LED. It has an 8 foot power cord so it should be able to reach any screen, and it will cost you around $30. This can easily be made at home for far cheaper, but you would be paying for convenience and the idea, so while that doesn’t make it any more affordable, the jacked up price is at least more understandable (You could do the same with a piece of tape).
