It seems crazy how much difference a few degrees of temperature change can make. Things can melt, freeze, or start to go bad in no time flat. If you have an ointment, medicine, or specific type of food that you want to keep cold, but don’t want to put it in an office fridge in fear that it may be thrown out, there are other options.

Should your item that needs to be kept cool or toasty be really, really small, then the Thanko USB Warm Cold Storage Unit can assist you. This measures 2.9×3.1×3.1”, and has a little plate inside that can either bring the temperature of whatever you place on it down or up. This plugs into your computer via USB 2.0, and has an in-line switch that will allow you to choose hot or cold. If you want to change to either extreme, you will need to wait about 10 minutes before it will be effective.

The range is in between 10-122 degrees Fahrenheit. While this may be useful in some very particular instances, it would be hard to justify with its $40 price tag for much else. You may as well rearrange your office space and try to work in a mini fridge, or at least look for a larger version of this tiny thing, such as the ones big enough to hold a can or more. This also doesn’t appear to be air-tight, so be prepared for it to radiate a little bit of heat or cool air your way.

There is always going to be a new way to do something. We’ve been using a mouse and keyboard for as long as anyone can remember, but that doesn’t stop people from trying to make a new setup. That’s all fine and well so long as it actually works for more than just a small group of people.

The King’s Assembly is wanting to take away the need to switch between mouse and keyboard by combining them. There are several versions of this sort of thing already on the market, but none have the entire keyboard and more. Seeing that this is said to be mindful of hardcore gamers as well, it is certainly worth looking into. You’ll have 30 keys available to your fingers in a curved setup on both hands, five keys with a joystick for your thumb, and as stated previously, either can act as your mouse.

It comes with a cable to connect the two, and plugs in via USB to lessen latency as well as negating the need for batteries. While they look rather bulky, they have Teflon pads for feet to help them glide effortlessly across your desk. This will come in two different options, including the ‘elementalist’ (right hand) and the ‘strategist’ (left hand). There is an adjustable contoured palm rest, but due to the variance in hand sizes and shapes, there are surely going to be some who are left out. Should you be interested, a full set will cost you around $200. This is currently a crowdfunding campaign that is successfully funded, so getting in on the action now might mean more goodies for you in the future.

Some video games like MMOs or RPGs aren’t very time-sensitive, and while they might require some skill, they don’t make you constantly think or act quickly. Other games like Battlefield and Call of Duty on the other hand, have a fairly steep learning curve. Here we are stuck inside for yet another snow day. I don’t mind it, in fact, it’s fun to be warm and cozy inside, playing video games and making snacks, and hot chocolate. Problem is, we just ran out of batteries for the Xbox controllers, and it’s not safe to be out on the road. Darn it! Time to put an end to the action, and watch a movie.
