So like… Uhh… Yeah… Oh my… this is just the van ride up to the Himalayas. As in, this scariness is only the beginning of something even scarier (that would be climbing the damn thing). Mick Fowler shot this video of his van driving up the mountain and it’s so close to the edge of the cliff—we’re talking inches here—that it makes me want to cry just watching the video.

This rather nondescript van is being powered by something much more beastly than your usual pistons: an actual airplane turbine engine. Seriously, over in Russia they crammed a real gas turbine engine inside this van (it fills up the whole van, basically) with gigantic hoses, an humongous fuel tank and a sweet control panel. It’s so powerful that it’s used to help power planes.

There were a lot of cool cars in 1980s TV shows and movies. We must have been obsessed with cars in that era, because you don’t get these sort of iconic rides anymore. Ralph from Brothers Brick has created some awesome homages to TV and movie vehicles of that era and they look amazing.
They look so good, I wish we could buy each as a set and put them together ourselves. These cars even have LEGO characters to go with them. All of our favorites are here: the GMC Vandura from The A-Team, Ecto-1 from Ghostbusters, KITT from Knight Rider, and The General Lee from The Dukes of Hazzard.

It’s not quite a minivan fit for a technophile, despite the standard lineup of 2014 in-vehicle gadgets, such as HondaLink with a smartphone interface, HD Radio and an updated center stack. But Honda’s 2014 Odyssey does ship with one very practical addition: a built-in HondaVAC, designed with assistance from the good folks at Shop-Vac. The integrated vacuum cleaner lets you tidy up around the van and outside as well, and with integrated power, it doesn’t need to be plugged in for use. It can suck indefinitely when the engine’s running, or for up to eight minutes with the car turned off. It’s integrated within the rear cargo area, and includes a replaceable filter and a canister bag, for easy rubbish disposal. The Odyssey just made its debut at the New York Auto Show, and pricing and availability have yet to be announced. If you’ve been following Technabob for a while, you might remember the Blockcar – a LEGO-style remote-controlled car from Japan. Well here we are a couple of years older and wiser, another brick-building car has surfaced – this time with iOS R/C capabilities.
These UTICO vehicle kits come with all of the bricks you need to assemble a pre-designed car or minibus. While they’re not official LEGO blocks, these snap-together R/C toys still look like they could be fun to play with.
Just because they come in specific kits for each vehicle doesn’t mean you couldn’t build something else with them – like a hot dog or a chicken on wheels or something.
Each kit comes with a USB-rechargeable motorized base platform, along with an infrared dongle you can plug into iPhones or iPads with the 30-pin docking connector. It looks like later-model iDevices won’t be able to control these at this point.
The R/C Brick Car is available from Japan’s JTT for ¥3,980 (~$43 USD).

Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire… The A-Team. If you can’t hire them, at least you could build your own A-Team LEGO R/C van.
This A-Team RC LEGO Van was made by Vimal Patel, a LEGO building maniac from New Zealand, who has created numerous other LEGO masterpieces in the past. This van is built entirely from LEGO bricks. Everything except for the battery, the circuitry and the IR sensor, that is. Check out out in action in the video clip below:

The Lego Back to the Future set went official last year. Now it’s time for another classic from the 80s: the A-Team van. Remember back in the 70′s when people were airbrushing all kinds of murals and Star Wars art on their vans? Well, van art may not be what it used to be, but every now and then we see something cool. Like this Grand Moff Tarkin van.
The Tarkin Truck looks pretty amazing, but The Grand Moff does not look too happy. Probably because his Death Star was turned into ashes. I love the imperial lighting behind him too – it’s a nice touch. I would love to drive this thing. You know how the ladies love Peter Cushing.
It is super awesome, though I think needs some Death Star hubcaps.
