Connoisseur’s Vault for the ultimate peace of mind

connoisseurs-vaultWhile there is no such thing as a 100% certainty for the days that are ahead of our lives, heck, we cannot even determine for sure what will happen to us in the next minute, let alone the next second, there are still some steps that we as humans can actively take in order to minimize the amount of risks that we potentially go through. Over the course of one’s lifetime, I am quite sure that we would have amassed our fair share of earthly treasures, and would need a safe space to stash them away. Have you ever considered a safe in your home? Why settle for less when you have arrived at your station in life, when you can have the $155,000 Connoisseur’s Vault?

The Connoisseur’s Vault is made in Germany by Döttling, renowned manufacturers of luxury safes since 1919. This particular home vault offers secure, dedicated storage for those with refined taste. It is a three-door vault that sports a main safe which can be accessed only by a key pad combination, alongside eight integrated watch winders, where each of these are individually controlled by software that sets the direction of the rotation. A suede-lined jewelry drawer offers separate, organized storage for rings, necklaces, and bracelets. Apart from that, there is also a humidor drawer that has been lined with Spanish cedar and has an electronic humidification system with a hygrometer and barometer made by Wempe to make sure that whatever you stash inside will be stored at the ideal humidity level. It is also waterproof and fireproof up to 1,994° F for one hour, and it can even be hooked to an established alarm system.

“This is the original bank safe from the former “Schweizer Volksbank” and known to be one of the finest Swiss piece of craftwork in the early 20th Century. It is in very good shape and still usable as a bank deposit safe.”

When (or if) someone buys it, the entire safe, along with its contents, will be moved and installed anywhere in the world. Neat-o.

This gives new meaning to the phrases “drowning in riches” and “neck-deep in money.”

Zoho announces Zoho Vault, provides a hub for businesses to manage passwords

Zoho’s more commonly known around the interwebs for its document editing tools, but today the service is launching a product that’s a little more business-oriented than its Office suite. With the newly introduced Zoho Vault, the company’s hoping to give business owners a centralized repository where they can easily manage their passwords online — something slightly similar to what LastPass offers. Of course, security will likely be very important for potential customers, and Zoho says it’ll be able to keep a rigorous lockdown by implementing things such as Host-Proof Hosting, a measure which encrypts passwords at the browser and stores only encrypted data on the server. The Personal Edition of Zoho Vault is available now for free and can be accessed by one person, while the Enterprise Edition costs a mere $1 per month, offers an iPhone app and supports unlimited users.

Amazon Glacier: Super Slow Archiving Storage

If you’ve got massive amounts of historical data to backup and have had trouble finding a low cost storage solution, then you should check out Amazon Glacier.

There are plenty of archiving services out there, but most of them will cost you a lot of money, compared to what Glacier is offering. Glacier’s data vault is a lot slower, but it will cost you just a penny per gig per month. This amounts to 10% of what Amazon charges for its S3 storage service. There are no setup fees, and Glacier can handle petabytes without any problems. However, the service is designed for data that is infrequently accessed and where retrieval times of several hours are acceptable. Accessing more than 5% of your data per month costs $0.05 per 1,000 requests. Requests take between three and five hours to process, and that’s before they’re ready to download.

It’s a safe way of backing up all your precious photos, music, and other stuff that’s vulnerable to a hack or data loss, which could be irreplaceable if not properly archived in redundant systems.
