Criminals are gonna love this Nissan Skyline R33 that was coated with heat-sensitive paint by UK bodyshop Auto Kandy. Imagine robbing a bank and then driving under a waterfall to change the color of your car. Not that there are many waterfalls available to you, but still. You could go through a car wash. Or just have a friend waiting in a warehouse with a hose.
Police would be so fooled. And you would get away. At least until the car dries off and changes back, and your stolen bags of money explode ink all over you. Hey, at least you have a cool car.
Hopefully, we’ll be able to buy our own color-changing cars soon. Next step? Let’s get them flying.
So many people end up in car accidents every year. One of the common reasons was because the driver wasn’t paying enough attention. Some apparently can’t let go of their smartphones when they’re on the road, while others are too busy tinkering with their radios, or putting on makeup.
What drivers have to realize is that they have the obligation to be responsible on the road, because it’s not only their lives that they’re putting in harm’s way. Pedestrians, cyclists, other drivers and passengers of other cars are all put in danger because of one reckless driver’s actions.
With this in mind, Emotiv and the Royal Automobile Club of Western Australia came up with what’s probably the world’s first “concentration-dependent” car. It comes with an EPOC neuroheadset developed by Emotiv that connects with custom software that’s installed on the car.
The headset measures the electrical activity in the driver’s brain to gauge their level of concentration. When the driver is distracted, the car automatically slows down to about 9mph to remind the driver to focus on the road. Aside from that, the car will only run at its full capacity when the system determines that the driver is truly concentrating on driving.
Pat Walker, who is RAC’s executive general manager, says: “The impact of inattention is now comparable to the number of deaths and serious injuries caused by speed and drink driving, which are all contributors to Western Australia consistently having the worst fatality rate of any Australian state. Nationally, it is estimated inattention was a factor in 46 percent of fatal crashes.”
I think this is a great idea and has the potential to change how people drive. What do you think?
Astromech droids are like GPS navigation systems for X-Wing pilots. Plus they can help to fix your ship on the fly and just keep you company. They are great to have docked into your hull. If only we had Astromech droids for our cars. Here is a way to at least make it look like you do.
This R2-D2 astromech droid graphic is easy to install on your car and sticks to virtually all surfaces, although it looks best on the trunk of your vehicle – not on the hood. It includes R2-D2, an optional arm extension, a blast mark to reveal the open wiring of your ship, a control panel, and of course the Star Wars logo.
Yes, it would be better as a 3-dimensional object, but it is still pretty cool. It will make you feel like Luke, with R2 keeping you company on the back of your car.
If you are worried about the inevitable zombie invasion – and who isn’t – you might want to check out this Chevy Silverado on display at the State Fair of Texas. This ‘Black Ops Concept’ is apocalypse ready. Chevy design manager Dave Ross calls it “a survival kit on four wheels.”
The Black Ops features a raised suspension and body armor to help it traverse the toughest terrain that the post-apocalyptic wasteland has to offer. In the bed is a zombie-proof Truck Vault storage unit. Inside of this is a solar power pack, gas masks, gloves, a military first aid kit, a folding shovel, and a rope. On top of the storage locker are a generator, fuel can, and food and water rations.
It has everything you need to survive hordes of zombies and keep going. I hope it becomes a reality before the undead show up.
There’s something awesome about a crotch rocket that will beat most supercars. Ducatis are no exception, and the new 899 will not only blow your socks off, but other parts of your clothing as well.
The Ducati 899 Panigale motorcycle was made as a replacement for the 848 Superbike, and it’s supposed to be comfortable both on the track and the road. The engine produces 148 hp at 9,000 RPM. It’s loaded with high tech electronics, like a quick shifter, ride-by-wire, triple stage ABS, traction control, engine brake control and more. The monocoque aluminum frame should also be nice to ride.
The Ducati 899 Panigale will be available in October starting at about $15,000(USD).
Ice cream trucks are awesome. Any van or truck that comes into your neighborhood and delivers treats is okay with me. You know what is even better? An ice cream truck that can crawl over other cars to get to you.
When this beast comes to your neighborhood, you and your kids will need a ladder just to grab your ice cream and pay the guy. This huge truck is was used in a Škoda car commercial and they claim that it is the world’s biggest ice cream van. It was built to mark the launch of the souped-up new Octavia vRS.
This 5.5-ton vehicle comes with five-foot-tall monster truck wheels and four mega speakers. If you are in the UK you can actually see it in person since it will be touring the UK to hand out free ice cream treats to kids. Too bad we don’t have one delivering Good Humor bars in the U.S.
Nissan seems keen to give Google a run for their money in the autonomous vehicle technology category, and the Japanese giant is working hard at creating functional robot vehicles for 2020 and beyond.
Nissan has recently been able to pick up an official Japanese license plate to start testing smart driving systems in real world driving environments.
The car’s brains have been stuffed into an all-electric Nissan Leaf. Some of the features include automatic lane centering as well as adaptive cruise control. The vehicle will also support automatic exiting for freeways, automatic lane changes, and the ability to overtake slower or stopped cars as well.
Soon enough, we won’t even have to drive our cars, and maybe texting and driving will be okay.
A Lamborghini Aventador will cost you a whole lot of paper money, but this one just costs paper. And cardboard. It looks just as awesome. You just can’t drive it.
This 8-foot-long Lamborghini Aventador A-E2 police interceptor is all paper. It was made by designer Taras Lesko for a cost of about $1000 and weighs about 25lbs – which means he can carry and park it just about anywhere. Taras is no stranger to paper projects, having built lots of other cars, Gundams, wall art, and 3D busts before.
He was dared by his wife to take on this ambitious project and it is his biggest and heaviest papercraft model yet. Also the most expensive. But well worth it. It looks amazing.
If you’d like to build your own papercraft Lambo, you can download the templates for smaller versions of the car over on Lesko’s website.

Motorcycle riders all like to think that their bike is the biggest and baddest. Sorry folks, but that title belongs to the Regio Design XXL Chopper by Fabio Reggiani. It was shown-off at the Motor Bike Expo 2012 has now officially been declared the biggest motorcycle in the world by Guinness World Records.
This gigantic chopper completed the required ride distance of 100 meters so that it could be certified as the world’s largest functioning motorcycle. It measures about 32 feet long and 16 feet high. Its engine is a 5.7 V8 Chevrolet 280 horsepower, coupled to a three-speed transmission.
The Regio Design XXL Chopper was made in about seven months and beat the previous record held by Monster Cycle built by Gregory Dunham from California. Unfortunately, this motorcycle is impossible to balance on two wheels, so they had to add training wheels.
