Nokia Atlas said to be Verizon’s next Windows Phone 8 device

If you’ve been waiting for a new Windows Phone 8 smartphone to hit Verizon, it looks like you’ll get your chance to pick one up very soon. According to a leaked image of what appears to be a Verizon-branded Nokia Lumia 820, the carrier may be prepping for an announcement of what is said to be the Nokia Atlas, which would be Verizon’s next Windows Phone 8 handset.

The leaked image comes from the evleaks Twitter account, and it shows a Nokia Lumia smartphone for Verizon, and it’s described as the “Atlas” in the tweet itself. We heard back in August that Nokia would be unveiling a few new phones, one of which was codenamed “Atlas.” That gives us a little bit comfort in knowing that Verizon is surely going announce the new device soon.

Nokia announced the Lumia 820 early last month, and we’ve already seen an announcement from AT&T and T-Mobile, so it’s really only a matter of time before we hear from Verizon about its upcoming plans for Windows Phone 8. From the leaked image, it looks like the device will have a 4.3-inch display, with curvier corners than AT&T’s or T-Mobile’s version.

Microsoft is planning to officially launch its Windows Phone 8 mobile OS on October 29 during a huge launch event in San Francisco. Until then, we’re positive that the airwaves will be filled with more WP8 rumors, so while we’re not sure exactly what Verizon will bring to the table, we’ll find out very shortly.

HTC Droid Incredible X for Verizon appears at certification forum

You cannot keep a good man down, and neither can you suppress tantalizing secrets of the tech world. Right now, we know for sure that the next hot thing in the 7” tablet market is surely the iPad mini from Apple, never mind the fact that even Apple themselves have yet to step forward to confirm the existence of such a device. Well, the HTC Droid Incredible X has been spotted in the flesh before, but there was no official confirmation of such a device ever being announced. It looks like all of that is going to change soon, as a listing at the Global Certification Forum pointed towards the HTC6435LVW smartphone that will take advantage of Verizon’s LTE bands.

Chances are this is the rumored HTC Droid Incredible X that we have seen in the past, and it should not be too long before it debuts over at Verizon’s network, unless they want to miss the frenzied holiday shopping season that will happen at the end of every year. [Translated Page]

HTC DROID Incredible X appears certified to take on Verizon Galaxy Note

It would appear that the 5-inch warrior currently code-named DROID Incredible X is showing up certified with Verizon as a big competitor for the Samsung Galaxy Note II. What we’re seeing here is the HTC6435LVW, an HTC device also known as the DLX, coming forth with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core 1.5GHz processor with a 5-inch FullHD display and 1.5GB of RAM. This device has also been tipped to be bringing 16GB internal storage (likely one of several choices), a 12 megapixel camera on the back, 2 megapixel camera on the front, and a 2500 mAh battery under the hood as the HTC One X 5.

This device has been suggested to be bringing Android 4.1.2 to the party as well as Sense 4+, not unlike it’s recently revealed cousin, the HTC One X+. This device will certainly be coming with 4G LTE with Verizon – if it comes at all, of course, and will be competing against not just the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, but the LG Intuition as well. It’s time for a new era of gigantic displays, that’s for certain.

This device has also been tipped – though it would seem unlikely at this point – to be working as Google’s next Nexus device. At the moment, Google’s suggestion that they’d be working with more than one device manufacturer for their next Nexus smartphone seems less likely than them moving on to LG exclusively as they’ve not yet chosen that OEM to bring a Nexus to light. HTC on the other hand has, and Samsung has as well – and Motorola might have a Nexus in the future, but as they’ve been purchased by Google quite recently, it would make a whole lot more sense to show friendship towards LG – and fairness, as it were.

This HTC Incredible X will likely be essentially a gigantified version of the HTC One X+, a device that’ll bring quad-core power to AT&T. Here with Verizon, HTC hopes to continue their successful drive inside the DROID brand, Verizon’s own specific Star Wars-licensed environment for goodness. The image in this post shows a red ring around the device too, so it’s all but here – but the decision to believe is yours!

Verizon HTC Droid Incredible X pops up at certification forum, inadvertently confirms existence

If you’ve been holding out for HTC’s forthcoming Verizon-bound 5-inch Galaxy Note rival, congratulations — your patience may soon pay off. A listing at the Global Certification Forum reveals the hotly-tipped HTC6435LVW uses Big Red’s LTE bands, while the folks over at Blog of Mobile think it’ll be renamed as the Droid Incredible X for its network debut. Still, given that the holiday buying season is narrowing with each passing day, we think Lowell McAcam had better hurry up.

Leaked Nokia Atlas image shows a Windows Phone 8 device heading to Verizon

Leaked promotional picture of Nokia's Atlas reveals it's bound for Verizon

When AT&T announced it was keeping the Lumia 920 for itself, plenty of clothes were rended and teeth were gnashed. However, the ever-reliable @evleaks has shown a picture of a Nokia handset, codenamed Atlas, that’s bound for Verizon’s, erm, less unpopular network. While there’s no official confirmation as to the phone’s pedigree, we wouldn’t be surprised if it was a customized version of the 820 to follow in the footsteps of T-Mobile’s 810. Whatever happens, we don’t have that long to find out either way.

Nokia Lumia 822 “Atlas” for Verizon gets pictured

So we know that the Nokia Lumia 810 will be headed T-Mobile’s way which is basically the carrier’s variant of the Lumia 820, but will they be the only carrier to feature the phone? Well thanks to @evleaks, it looks like Verizon’s version of the Lumia 820 has been revealed. Pictured above is the Nokia “Atlas”, which according to previously leaked information suggests that this could be the Lumia 822 for Verizon. This obviously does not look anything like the Lumia 820, nor T-Mobile’s 810 but we guess that’s to be expected. No word on the specs of the Nokia “Atlas”, but if this is the Lumia 820, we expect that it will feature the same 4.3” ClearBlack display, an 8MP Carl Zeiss camera alongside a 1,800mAh battery. The announcement for the Nokia “Atlas”/Lumia 822 for Verizon is expected to be made in the next few days, so if you’re a Verizon subscriber and wouldn’t mind getting your hands on the device, check back with us later for more updates.

HTC DLX specs purportedly slip, stuff Snapdragon S4 Pro and 12MP camera into a 5inch frame

Talk of HTC’s rumored, giant DLX has veered between the plausible and not-so-plausible. We might just toss the newest tip into that former category. Football4PDA, who’s developing a reputation for uncanny accuracy in leaks, has posted what’s claimed to be the core specifications of HTC’s first phablet. The DLX would mirror earlier expectations of a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 Pro and a 5-inch, 1080p display, but push past the OneX+ in more ways than just physical heft: the extra space might just help it afford 1.5GB of RAM, a 12-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter and a larger-still (but non-removable) 2,500mAh battery. We’re not as much of a fan of the threadbare 16GB of storage that’s supposedly in the cards, though, even with a new Android 4.1.2 build in store. Provided that there’s more to the story than just 136 characters, the real point of contention is the ship date — having mostly cleared the decks between its September event and its One X+ introduction, HTC hasn’t left much time for the possibly Verizon-bound flagship to show its face.

Samsung Galaxy S3 brown and black variants teased by Verizon

The smartphone has taken its cue from older candybar Nokia handsets that came with Xpress On covers as well as the Nintendo Game Boy that had a slew of variants and colors over the years (followed by its spiritual successor, the Nintendo DS and the ilk of course). Well, does this mean that modern day smartphones should ditch having too many colors? Not really, as colors are a matter of personal taste, and Verizon has teased that they will be making available brown and black variants of the Samsung Galaxy S3 “soon”, a word which we do not really like due to the relativistic nature of it.

Assuming all goes as planned eventually, we would be looking at a Galaxy S3 which will not cost a penny over the $200 contract price of current pebble blue and marble white smartphones. What do you think of the new colors, are they subtle enough and yet carry a message of sophistication each time you whip it out of your pocket?

Verizon teases black and brown Galaxy S III models for the subtle crowd

AT&T might have nabbed Verizon’s color for the Galaxy S III, but that doesn’t mean Big Red subscribers will be left out. The CDMA carrier has just posted a rotating teaser on its home page promising the low-key black and brown versions of Samsung’s flagship sometime “soon,” with availability sign-ups on hand for the impatient. That’s all we know for now, although history suggests there won’t be a premium over the $200 contract price of the existing blue and white models. We’re hoping the new shades of Galaxy come soon — Verizon’s offering will be the first chance most Americans have to get the Android phone in muted colors and relive the glory days of brown electronics.
