Intel Internet TV Project Reportedly Attracts Interest From Liberty Global

Intel Internet TV Project Reportedly Attracts Interest From Liberty Global

In February earlier this year, Intel confirmed that it has set up a new division called Intel Media which is working on its internet TV project. It was back in December 2012 when the first rumors about Intel playing with the idea of becoming an internet TV provider started making the rounds. Though recent rumors suggest that Intel is now willing to give up the project, Verizon has reportedly been in talks with the chip maker to takeover Intel Media. If the latest from Bloomberg is to be believed, Big Red may face some competition from European cable operator Liberty Global.

Citing three people “with knowledge of the situation,” the report claims that talks between Intel and Liberty Global are at an early stage right now and there is a possibility that they might fall through. While spokespersons for both Intel and Liberty Global have declined to comment on the report, it is said that the latter plans on using Intel’s internet TV system outside the U.S. Verizon was said to be in advanced negotiations with Intel, but the report doesn’t say if Verizon is still interested in the division or if it has decided not to pursue Intel Media any further. The people cited in the report have not disclosed the price being discussed for Intel’s internet TV project.

White LG G2 Spotted, Targets Verizon

White LG G2 Spotted, Targets VerizonThe LG G2 has been out for some time already, and Verizon customers are able to pick up one of these handsets any time that they like, although they will only be able to choose from one color – that would be black. However, it does seem that a recent leak could point to something else that might appeal to those who want their smartphones to arrive in a color other than boring black. On the Twitter page over at @evleaks, there was a photo posted up which does seem to resemble that of a white LG G2 handset complete with a Verizon Wireless logo that has been stamped on the back.

So far, the folks over at Verizon has not given away any indication in particular that they will start to sell the white version of the LG G2 anytime soon, but I suppose that might change in the near future if the leaked image from serial leaksters @evleaks happen to turn out to be true. Would you pick up a white version of the LG G2 just for the sake of it looking different from the current model in terms of its color? One thing’s for sure, the LG G2, regardless of which color it comes in, is a pretty fly and highly functional smartphone.

LG G2 For Verizon To Go Free On Contract Until 11th November

LG G2 For Verizon To Go Free On Contract Until 11th NovemberThe LG G2 is an impressive device and is admittedly one of the better LG phones we have reviewed to date. Some of the features we loved was its display and camera, which surprisingly performed very well under low-light conditions, giving Apple’s iPhone 5 a run for its money. Well the good news is that if you were looking for a new phone but were on a tight budget, you might be interested to learn that Verizon is now offering the LG G2 for free, although you will need to sign with a new two-year contract with the carrier, and use the VZWDEAL promo code in order to claim the device for free for yourself. The deal is only available until the 11th of November, so if you’re still on the fence, now’s as good a time as any!

For those unfamiliar with the LG G2, this is LG’s flagship device for 2013. The handset will feature a 5.2” Full HD IPS display, and with 1920×1080 pixels crammed into that 5.2” display, you can look forward to a pixel density of 432ppi. The LG G2 will also be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor clocked at 2.26GHz, a 13MP rear-facing camera with optical image stabilization, a 2.1MP front-facing camera, and a 3,000mAh battery to top things off. Leaked Verizon Roadmap Lists Customizable Moto X, LG G2, HTC One Max, Droid Ultra And Droid Mini

Leaked Verizon Roadmap Lists Customizable Moto X, LG G2, HTC One Max, Droid Ultra And Droid MiniBased on a couple of leaks, what we have learnt is that both Sprint and T-Mobile will be getting access to Motorola’s Moto Maker which basically allows for further customization of the Moto X smartphone beyond the basic color options of black or white. They will be joining AT&T who has had the exclusive on Moto Maker from the get-go, leaving just Verizon who has yet to confirm anything. Well thanks to the folks at Droid-Life, they have managed to get their hands on what seems like Verizon’s lineup for the holiday season.

According to the schedule, Verizon’s Moto X will be able to access Moto Maker on the 11th of November. As it stands the handset is priced at a rather affordable $99 with a two-year contract. Come 14th of November, the LG G2 will be launched in white, followed by the HTC One Max which will see a launch on the 21st of November. Last but not least, The Droid Ultra and the Droid Mini will be seeing a release on the 22nd of November, a day after the HTC One Max. So, which of these devices are you most looking forward to? The giant HTC One Max, the LG G2 in white, or maybe a more customized Moto X?

Verizon Ellipsis 7 Tablet Specifications Revealed

Verizon Ellipsis 7 Tablet Specifications Revealed

Last month we started hearing rumors that Verizon is going to launch its very own affordable 7 inch tablet soon. It did indeed, last week, Verizon launched the Ellipsis 7 tablet. The tablet is actually part of a new lineup of devices called Ellipsis, though the carrier has not clarified exactly which type of devices will be offered under the Ellipsis brand in the future, apart from the 7 inch tablet. Specifications of this tablet have finally been revealed on Verizon’s website, its pretty much what you’d expect from a tablet in this price range.

The Verizon Ellipsis 7 tablet has a 1,280×800 LCD 7 inch display, a 1.2GHz quadcore processor from an undisclosed manufacturer, 1GB RAM, 8GB of onboard storage with the option for external expansion via microSD cards, a 4,000mAh battery and a 3.2 megapixel rear camera. It is compatible with Verizon’s 4G LTE network. The tablet is powered by a near vanilla Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, so Verizon might not have slapped a custom skin on top but it will definitely install a lot of third-party applications, including but not limited to RedBox, Amazon, iHeartRadio and other apps. The Verizon Ellipsis 7 tablet is available for sale online and in the carrier’s retail stores, off contract it costs $250. With a two year contract, the tablet’s price goes down to $149.99.

Verizon’s Lumia 2520 Tablet Could Be Priced $100 Cheaper On Black Friday

Verizons Lumia 2520 Tablet Could Be Priced $100 Cheaper On Black FridayWe had reported earlier that according to the folks at WPCentral, they claim that they have been informed that come 22nd of November, the Nokia Lumia 1520, the Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet, and the Microsoft Xbox One console will be launched together. Well if you can wait a week or so, or at least until Black Friday, you might be able to save yourself $100 on the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet. WPCentral has managed to get their hands on a leaked promotional image which is for Verizon’s Black Friday deal, or at least one of them, and according to the image, the Lumia 2520 tablet which was priced at $499.99, will be priced $100 cheaper at $399.99 on Black Friday.

Black Friday, for those unfamiliar, will be the Friday following Thanksgiving Day in the US and it is usually when many things go up for sale at pretty sweet discounts. So like we said, if you don’t have to get the tablet on launch day itself, you could very well save yourself $100 which we guess could go towards something else for yourself or for a loved one, especially since Christmas isn’t too far off as well. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but as far as we’re concerned that promotion looks legit, but be sure to check back with us closer to the date to make sure that the deal is really happening!

Verizon Explains Nexus 7′s LTE Certification Hold-Up

Verizon Explains Nexus 7s LTE Certification Hold UpAs we’re sure you guys are aware of, the Google Nexus 7 can be used with Verizon’s LTE network, making it a relatively affordable tablet with LTE connectivity, undoubtedly helping its appeal to customers. Unfortunately for Verizon customers, it seems that they are unable to get LTE to work on their tablets, with Verizon apparently unwilling to activate the tablet for LTE connectivity for customers who bought it through the Google Play store despite the tablet being advertised that it works on Verizon’s LTE network.

According to Verizon, it seems that this is not their fault, but rather the fault lies with both Google and ASUS, who told Verizon to wait for them to sort it out. It seems that Google was too focused on releasing Android 4.4 KitKat and thus neglected to address the “systems issue” that was apparently plaguing the device. Instead, Google and ASUS told Verizon to wait until the update had been rolled out to the tablet before Verizon was allowed to provided certification for the device to be used on its network.

Obviously there’s no telling how long it will be until Android 4.4 KitKat makes its way onto the Nexus 7, but apparently if one were to insert an existing Verizon LTE SIM into the Nexus 7, it should have no problems hooking onto Verizon’s LTE network. That might be a temporary solution until the update has been released, although a recent tweet by @evleaks would suggest that the wait might not be as long as we might think.

Verizon Moto X Price Down To $99.99 On Contract

Verizon Moto X Price Down To $99.99 On Contract

Motorola announced the first flagship smartphone it created as a Google company, Moto X, back in August. On August 29th, the largest U.S. mobile carrier started offering it for $199.99 on contract. Initially, the carriers which offered the Moto X sold it for $199.99 with a two year contract. Soon after its release, it was rumored that the price would be dropped to $99.99 around the holiday season, and we’ve already seen AT&T and Sprint slash their prices. Verizon today followed suit, it now offers the Moto X for $99.99 with a two year contract, both online and in its retail stores across the country.

It was also rumored recently that Moto Maker will be opened up for Verizon subscribers this month, but so far no confirmation has been received. If you’ve been holding out on purchasing a Moto X particularly on Verizon, now is the time to make your move. Motorola is going to announce its low-end Moto X variant, the Moto G, on November 13th. It remains to be seen if Verizon is going to carry that device. Seeing as how its expected to be much more affordable than the flagship Moto X, both variants probably won’t be offered for $99 on contract. Its too soon to say for sure right now though.
