Grand Theft Auto V delayed, arriving September 17

Back in October, Rockstar officially announced a “spring 2013” release window for Grand Theft Auto V. However, the company announced today that they’re delaying the game, and will see a solid release date of September 17, 2013. The game will be heading to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but still no word on PC or Wii U availability.

Rockstar didn’t give a specific reason for the delay other than “to allow additional development time.” The development team apologized for the delay, but said that the extra time needed to polish up the game will be well worth the time for those eagerly waiting. The company says that GTAV “is a massively ambitious and complex game and it simply needs a little more polish to be of the standard we and, more importantly, you require.”

Rockstar has been teasing us a good amount throughout these past few months, releasing new screenshots of the game what seems like every other day. They give us a good look at what to expect in the new game, and we’re even told that Grand Theft Auto V will feature Rockstar’s largest in-game world that they’ve ever developed.

The game will feature three protagonists, and it takes place in Los Santos, one of the three cities featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The upcoming game should hopefully blow all other past installments out of the water. We really like GTAIV, but we’re hoping for even more with GTAV, considering it will have the largest in-game world to date.

Legend of Zelda Key Hanger: Don’t Forget Your Keys!

It’s dangerous to go alone! Take this. No, not a sword, silly. Your house keys. This clever Zelda key hanger reminds you that you’d better take your keys with you when you walk out the door.

This Zelda key hanger measures 7.25″ x 5.1″ and was made by Etsy seller April Iverson Jessi Stanfil who clearly knows how to grab her keys in style. It’s an awesome geek deal at just $17(USD). It’s available in 1, 2 and 3-hook versions. And it will hang on your wall with no damage to the wall thanks to some 3M picture hangers on the back. That makes it perfect for apartment dwellers – at least those who care about getting their security deposit back.

Grab your keys and head off to save your beloved princess.

Valve releases Steam Greenlight update, brings with it a handful of improvements

Valve has rolled out an update to Steam Greenlight, bringing with it a handful of improvements based on requests and feedback from users. The improvements are primarily for users, but developers are also tossed a bone with a new stats feature. Among the other improvements is the ability to better organize and discover titles in your queue.

FeaturedCollections

First up is the new “Ask me again later” feature, which allows users to skip a title, which will disappear for one month, then reappear for you to reconsider. If you change your mind about it before the month is up, you can pull up the title via the new menu “Items to Revisit Later,” where it will be nestled waiting for you. For developers, statistics have been added that allows monitoring of item views, votes, and things relevant to both.

Users now have the ability to follow items in addition to favoriting them. When an item is followed notifications will be provided to the user when its developer makes any new announcements. This feature makes it easier to keep tabs on things you like without manually checking various items periodically. With this update, items already favorited will be automatically followed.

Finally, users can also create a collection of titles, which now allow announcements from the user to those who are following the collection. Such a collection can be titles that are favorites, or can be titles in a specific category or trend. Likewise, users can follow other collections, and will receive updates if the collection’s creator posts an announcement.

Zelda Inspired Pixel Heart Jewelry Symbolizes Your Love Bar

Etsy artist Nastalgame sells plastic jewelry inspired by the hearts from The Legend of Zelda. There’s a necklace, a bracelet, a ring and two different types of earrings. The hearts can also be “broken”, in case you’re not feeling particularly romantic.

For example, the bracelet you see above has two sides:

The hearts on the necklace and the pair of earrings with short chains can literally be broken apart, but the chains will hold up both heart halves. The other pair of earrings on the other hand consists of two halves that match together. But my favorite piece is the ring. Not only does the heart snap in to two pieces, the ring itself can be separated, so you can give one of the halves to someone else. Awwwww.

The biggest addition in this DLC is the ability for you to have your own lair and hideout. The lair will be able to host Lair PvP battles and has a mainframe computer that will give players access to new customizations and combat abilities that can be used in Metropolis or Gotham City. The hideout is a lesser version of a lair that lacks some of its capabilities.

The DLC also adds new missions at four locations giving a total of 10 new missions to complete. The content is available as a free download for Legendary members for $9.99(USD) for free and Premium players. You can download the content pack right now for the PC or PS3.

HiCan Gaming Bed: You Can Sleep with Your Games – Just Don’t SLEEP with Your Games

Video games can be addictive. I think anyone who’s played a particularly engrossing game can attest to that fact. I’ve been guilty of staying up until the wee hours of the morning playing my RPGs, and I only forced myself to kick the habit after showing up to work looking like a zombie in the days ahead.

That said, the HiCan Gaming Bed is definitely a fun, fun gadget for gamers who have money–but before anyone gets it, all I can say is they better have a lot of discipline. Otherwise, they probably won’t be able to get any sleep when they’re lying down on this bed.

Gaming BedThe bed comes with an HD projector and a high-end built-in computer that’ll definitely amp up your gaming experience several notches. Aside from that, the bed is equipped with a state-of-the-art sound system, as well as a reading light and a full media complement with a game and entertainment console.

Sounds like a dream come true, right? It’s perfectly real, although the bed’s price tag will probably burst your bubble: it’s priced at $52,000 (USD).

Yeah, that’s a huge ‘game over’ for a lot of us. Should you have the resources to afford such an extravagance, you can contact HiCan for purchasing information.

Sonic the Hedgehog Cartridge Soap Scrubs off the Stench of Eggman

After a hard day of spiraling through loops and collecting rings, it’s time for a good shower. A hedgehog can get pretty dirty running around all those 16-bit landscapes. This Sonic the Hedgehog soap should help. Forget inserting it in your console. Instead, insert it in your armpits and other crevices to get squeaky clean.
sonic soap This one is grape soda scented. Supposedly this soap will make your hands soft, which should help you interact better with your controller. Just don’t try jamming it into your SEGA Genesis unless you want a nasty surprise.

This neat soap shaped was made by Digitalsoaps, and will cost you just $7(USD) – which is actually a little more than a used Sonic the Hedgehog cartridge.

Mario and Luigi as Ghostbusters: Who Ya Gonna Call?

I think we finally have a worthy idea for the next Ghostbusters film, based on this work of fine geek art. Imagine Mario and Luigi Ghostbusting and saving Peach from Boo in the haunted castle.
mario ghostbusters
This awesome painting is the work of artist joehavasy who makes all kinds of cool geek art. Being a fan of both Super Mario games and Ghostbusters, this mash-up makes complete sense to me – and I for one, would love to see a live-action version of this painting on the big screen. It took over a month to paint and measures 20 x 30″. It’s painted on a piece of birch wood with a wooden frame backing it.

The beam of light was painted with a fluorescent paint that even gives off a glow in darker rooms and Boo’s tongue has some gloss medium on it so that it actually looks wet as well. This painting will cost you $1,200(USD). That’s a whole lot of gold coins, but I still think it’s totally worth it.

SimCity for Mac arriving in spring 2013

SimCity is just about a month away, arriving on PC March 5 in the US, with a Europe release on March 8. However, this is Windows only, but developer Maxis announced that the release date for Mac is planned for sometime this spring. The company also notes that both Mac and Windows players will be able play co-op together on the same maps.

Screen-Shot-2012-10-04-at-2.51.35-PM-580x3181

The reason for the delay, according to Maxis, is that the Mac port isn’t a port at all, but a “full native version” specifically for OS X. This means that the team will be making sure that Mac players get the same experience as Windows players. However, one of the key differences is that the Mac version will be a digital download only.

As far as minimum spec requirements are concerned, Maxis didn’t give any concrete details on how much power is required out of your Mac, but the company says that they “are aiming to make the game as accessible as possible,” so any user with Snow Leopard and a Core 2 processor should be able to play the game without any problems.

SimCity will be a complete overhaul from past installments. Just from the nine-minute gameplay video that we saw a few months, the new game will include much more detail and better graphics this time around, making the city-building experience more realistic for the players. We definitely can’t wait to get our hands on it.
