Assassin’s Creed Kenway Jacket For All Of Your Parkour Needs

Working on your parkour skills?  Going over to the local playground and kangaroo kicking kids off of the monkey bars?  Flying down the slide face first into a diving roll faceplant?

If so, you and me aren’t so different after all.  The thing is, these failed stunt attempts feel much more awesome when you’re sporting a jacket that looks like the one himself Ezio would wear!  Check this out – there’s no way you can resist putting this on your Christmas list!  And this year, we’re finding Santa and giving it to him.  Personally.

The Asssassin’s Creed Jacket is modeled after the one that Connor Kenway’s going to wear in the newest Assassin’s Creed title.  It was designed by Volante Designs, and you can buy it for $320.  Well, actually, he’s had a gigantic influx of orders due to the media attention, and you have three options.  One: whip out the sewing machine and make one yourself.  Two: pay extra and get one of the first jackets.  Three:  fill out an order form and wait an un-specified period of time while he hires more employees to increase production speeds.

You can get this jacket in any color combination you want, but I would probably just go with the classic red and white.  Scratch that – neon green is my favorite.

This is undoubtedly the most awesome jacket I have ever seen, and it is a must have for any serious Assassin’s Creed fan!  Let’s be honest – dressing up like an assassin may be a way to get the whole subdivision to think you’re a freak, but it’s a great way to get in shape and show off your geeky tastes at the same time!  And that’s rare, since my geeky tastes usually just involve bacon.

If you’re not willing to fork out the cash and pick up one of these, then you should take a look at some other awesome Assassin’s Creed stuff!  Take this Hidden Blade Gauntlet Replica, for example, or this Assassin’s Creed Tomahawk Replica!  Both of which are dangerous, but we all know that it’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt – then it’s run from the police and blame Todd.  Seriously, bro?  Pinning it on me?”

GTA IV Mod Lets You Play as a Giraffe

The best part of the GTA games is the mayhem that you can cause as you drive and run and gun throughout the city. Some of the mods for the game are pretty cool too. You know what’s really awesome? A mod that lets you wreck havoc across the city as a giraffe.

There is nothing better than seeing a giraffe riding a motorbike, firing an RPG and pushing cars so they go flying like Superman sneezed. This Grand Theft Auto IV giraffe mod by indirivacua is some hardcore giraffe action for zoo fans everywhere.

Just make sure that you watch the video all the way through to the end, you’ll be happy you did. It is some funny stuff. To me at least. Who doesn’t love a giraffe on a rampage? But how about elephant?

Super Mario Bros. Möbius Strip: Your Princess is Always in Another Castle

You can do some amazing things with 3D printers. You can make toys and all sorts of cool things. Look what Joaquin Baldwin created with one. This is a Möbius strip showing the first level of Super Mario Bros.

Mario can run his little legs off as fast as he can in order to save the Princess, but he will still be trapped in a never-ending hell level for all eternity. Well, unless Doctor Who comes to his rescue or something.

What’s most impressive is the level of detail. Every mushroom, turtle, cloud and star are there, all carved at different heights, which makes it look amazing. Best of all, you can order one for yourself over on Shapeways for $24 (USD). Great job Joaquin.

Borderlands Claptrap Wedding Cake: Save the Last Dance for Him

You know, I kind of like Claptrap from the Borderlands games, but I have to admit, he was also really, really annoying. Still, he made the game a little more interesting with his stupid banter. He’s just not as cool as R2-D2.

claptrapNow this Claptrap wedding cake may not move and say smartass things, but it is still pretty awesome. It was made by Black Sheep Custom Cakes and the details are so nice that it looks real.

“Check me out! I’m dancing! I’m dancing!” Alright, just shut up and get in my mouth. Mmmmmmm yummy! Your dancing in my tummy you stupid pile of gears.

Guild Wars 2 Coming to Mac, Beta Already Available… to PC Gamers. Go Figure.

Mac gamers are grateful for Blizzard, because it’s one of the few major companies that release Mac versions of their games alongside the more popular Windows version. ArenaNet says better late than never by announcing that they will be releasing a Mac version of their new MMORPG Guild Wars 2. You can even play the beta of said Mac version right now… as long as you buy or already bought the Windows version of the game. Weird, but it’s better than nothing.

guild wars 2 mac

So what do we Mac owners have to do to play the beta? Buy the PC version – the only version that’s out now. This will allow you to make a Guild Wars 2 account, which in turn will grant you the privilege of downloading the Mac beta client online. And don’t worry about having to pay twice. Similar to what Blizzard does with their games, your purchase of Guild Wars 2 nets you both the PC and Mac version when the latter finally comes out.

If you think of it as a pre-order that grants you beta access, then it’s not so bad. If you then think harder and wonder why ArenaNet didn’t just have an open or even closed beta for Mac users without requiring a purchase, then it becomes weird again. Head to the Guild Wars 2 website for more details on the announcement.

PS3 Slim Version 2 Price, Release Date and Specs Revealed

Typically, when a game console is nearing the end of its life, prices start to go down. It isn’t working out that way with a new PS3 that was unveiled this week at the Tokyo Game Show. The new version of the PS3 has a different design and is slimmer overall, but the cheapest of the new models will retail for $20 more than the current low-end model.

In the US, the new slimmed-down PS3 with 250 GB hard drive will sell for $270 (USD), while a version of the console with a 500 GB hard drive will cost $300. However, in Japan, prices are expected to remain the same as the current models. That said, the updated console does now include a bundled copy of Uncharted 3: Game of the Year Edition, and the base model’s hard drive is bigger than the current $250 model.

Sony says that the new console is 50% lighter and smaller than the original PS3 that landed in 2006. It also states that it’s about 25% smaller than the “slim” version unveiled in 2009. The 250GB version hits stores on September 25, while the 500 GB version of the console will go on sale on October 30 and will be available in Charcoal Black or Classic White, which is kind of an odd name, since there’s nothing classic about a white PS3.

The Starry Night at the Arcade: Pac Man Meets van Gogh

OK, I’ll admit it. I’m sort of obsessed with Vincent van Gogh’s The Starry Night. I just can’t get enough of the sweeping wind patterns that are prevalent in this piece of incredible art. This is one of the reasons why I’m always happy to find recreations, tributes, and reinterpretations of one of Van Gogh’s most beautiful pieces. Noah Gibbs, also known as ~SirNosh, is behind this amazing homage to The Starry Night.

It depicts what would happen if van Gogh had a bad case of Pac-Man fever. The result of his homage is pretty cool, and I like all of the details he incorporated into it – especially the swirling ghost-clouds in the middle. This should definitely be made available as prints, laptop vinyl decals, and iPhone cases. I think he’d sell quite a few.

I just hope that Noah didn’t cut off his own ear to make this.

RetroBall Pong System Has 4-Player, 5-Ball Mode: Super Pong II Turbo Arcade EX Championship Edition

As far as competitive videogames go, you can’t get any simpler than Pong. But times have changed, and so have our tastes and need for mayhem. We can’t just have birds, they need to be angry birds. So if Pong is to be played by today’s gamers – bored adults and foul-mouthed adolescents alike – it can’t just have two paddles and a ball. There needs to be chaos.

retroball pong game system

Invented by Stacy Dudley and Brad Slattery, the RetroBall is a bat-and-ball game system – let’s just call a Pong a Pong and call it Pong. It has a 32×32 pixel LED screen, an acrylic enclosure and 1-bit sound effects. It’s clearly more powerful than the Wii U. The RetroBall has four paddle controllers so you can engage in four-player Pong deathmatches, and you can even increase the number of balls onscreen to five. It’s actually kind of reminiscent of Atari’s arcade classic Warlords.

retroball pong game system 2

But don’t let the cutting edge graphics and complicated gameplay fool you: you can’t just button mash your way to victory here like in your other modern games, primarily because there’s no button to mash, but also because skilled RetroBall players – probably named Stacy and Brad – are aware that you can change the spin and speed of a ball depending on how you hit it.

Pledge at least $149 (USD) on Kickstarter to reserve a RetroBall game system. Launch titles include 2-player Pong with 1 ball, 3-player Pong with 1 ball, 4-player Pong with 1 ball, 2-player Pong with 2 balls…

Sega Genesis Emulator Runs on Nook Simple Touch: Sonic the Black and White Hedgehog

Electrostatic ink based E-readers aren’t exactly the best devices for moving images, due to their slow refresh rates and black and white screens. But that didn’t stop somebody from porting a SEGA Genesis emulator to the $99 Android-based Nook Simple Touch reader anyhow.

sega genesis nook simple touch

YouTuber ndncnbvcuyuys (try and pronounce that!) posted this video of his rooted Nook Simple Touch running the Genesis emulator, and playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2. It’s clear from the video clip below that the Nook is more than up to the task of emulating the classic 16-bit console.

I’m actually impressed how well the side-scroller plays, given its fast action and movement – though it’s unclear if the emulator supports sound. You can check out detailed pics of the emulator in action over on Imgur, and some other fun emulators running on the Nook Simple Touch here.
