First Clip Of jOBS Biopic Released Starring Ashton Kutcher As Steve Jobs

When Ashton Kutcher was announced to be the lead actor in Steve Jobs’ biopic “jOBS,” we were a little hesitant about his ability to capture Steve Jobs’ essence for the film. When you consider the majority of his acting career was spent as a dimwitted teenager on That 70s Show, you could probably understand why we weren’t entirely sure of Kutcher’s ability to perform as Steve Jobs.

Microsoft’s Latest Internet Explorer Ad Takes Us Back In Time To The Good Old Days

I got to admit, I’m a 90s child. I’ve used those floppy disks, listened to a Walkman, and drew superheroes at class when everyone else was listening to the teacher. And, ah yes, I grew up with Microsoft too. If you’re asking me why I am so nostalgic, that’s because Microsoft has just released its latest advert for the Internet Explorer. The ad, which is now on YouTube, is entitled “Child of the 90s” and it basically walks the viewer to a time when everything was much simpler. (more…)

Hilarious Video On How Facebook Comes Up With Its Ideas

We’re sure that many of you guys are probably used to Facebook implementing changes and redesigns every so often, sometimes without really telling its users what’s going on, resulting in many status updates from users expressing their surprise and sometimes dismay (i.e. many people weren’t too happy about the redesign of the profile pages when they first launched). Poking fun at the various changes Facebook likes to implement every now and then is the YouTube channel UCBComedy where they have created a video demonstrating where Facebook manages to get their ideas from. It’s pretty funny if this style of humor is your sort of thing, and they do a pretty good job at pointing out some of the snafus the social network encountered on the way. In any case it’s a good way to kick start a Thursday so if you have a couple of minutes to spare, be sure to check it out!

Portlandia Nerd PSA Discusses What It’s Like To Be An Actual Nerd

IFC’s Portlandia is currently airing its third season with its latest episode hitting the hearts of nerds around the world.

The latest episode contained a segment where the show addressed the concept of what a nerd is. It starts off with a woman rambling at a bar saying how much she is a nerd because she wears glasses, is into video games and reads comic books “and stuff.”

The segment turns into somewhat of a Nerd PSA that has an actual nerd named Brian P. discuss what it’s really like to be a nerd. Brian P.’s glasses are to actually see, he watches Star Trek: The Next Generation and plays Skyrim.

Brian P. goes on from there to discuss how nerds feel when they see non-nerds say they’re one of them, and expectedly, it’s not in a positive way. Seeing how we cover a lot in the world of tech, gaming and science, we think it’s safe to say you would enjoy this clip from Portlandia just as much as we did.

Samsung Targets iPhone, BlackBerry In Business-Focused Commercial

Commercials for Samsung’s Galaxy devices are usually spent bashing the competition, that is unless it’s changing your perception of Mrs. Claus. They’ve recently bashed the iPhone 5, and are once again setting their sights on Apple’s smartphone, as well as RIM’s BlackBerry devices.

The new Samsung commercial was created to hopefully change the minds of business users who have trusted their business needs to a BlackBerry device, while at the same time, throwing iPhone users in there who separate their business and personal phones while at the workplace. At one point in the commercial, an extremely cool employee was able to use his Galaxy Note 2 to conduct business and watch a basketball game, while his boring cubicle mate continue to praise his BlackBerry device.

We could see why Samsung would go after Apple’s iPhone in their previous commercials, but we think their kicking a dead horse, especially when that horse reported a $114m loss just last month, is a bit much. Maybe they came up with the idea for this commercial fearing what RIM has up its sleeve with BlackBerry 10?
