On any given Tuesday in the 90s, I would hustle to the record store after school to gawk at the new releases. Occasionally, I would take a CD home, greedily tear it open, pop it into my boombox, and listen while I pretended to do my homework. This wonderful experience has no value any more. It’s obsolete.

Funko Pop! Star Trek: The Original Series Vinyl Figures: Beam My Wallet up, Scotty!
Posted in: Today's ChiliSo what else can we geeks spend our dough on? How about this fantastic line of vinyl figures from Funko? These Star Trek original series characters look adorable and you can choose from Spock, Kirk, Andorian, Scotty, an Orion Slave Girl or a Klingon.
Spock is giving the Vulcan salute, while Kirk and Scotty come with non-removable phasers. I think the Andorian is the cutest. These figures are extra cute and stand 3 3/4″ tall. They are made from vinyl and are super colorful. They will look great on your desk.
They are only $9.99(USD) each over at ThinkGeek, and can also be found at Entertainment Earth if they’re sold out.
Live long and prosper and collect cool toys.
If you ever looked at one of the white Portal sentry turrets and thought it was a blank canvas waiting for a Sharpie, you will love this. ThinkGeek has an 8-inch vinyl DIY sentry turret that comes with an official Aperture Corporation black permanent marker.
That means one mistake and you are SOL. I would be more impressed if the surface of the turret could be wiped clean so you could doodle repeatedly. The turret replica is made from vinyl so perhaps if you had a dry erase marker, you could wipe it clean. That, or you could always hit it with a Thermal Discouragement Beam.
The toy is an officially licensed Portal 2 figure. It sells for $19.99(USD) and is available for your doodling pleasure right now.
Sonic purists swear that everything sounds better on vinyl, and you know what? Spinning records is also just way more freaking fun. It’s common to digitize your LPs
We’ve featured a few skins for the PlayStation 4 and the DualShock 4 controller. But if you’re looking for an easier and more affordable way to personalize your system, check out Flaming Toast’s decals for the DualShock 4′s light bar.
The decals feature designs etched out of black vinyl, letting the LEDs in the light bar illuminate the cut out. They can place letters…
patterns…
and best of all, your own custom design. You can ask Flaming Toast to etch your gaming clan’s tag, the logo of your favorite game etc. Here are a couple of examples:
Here’s how easy it is to apply the decal:
Head to Flaming Toast’s Twitter page for more shots of custom decals. Flaming Toast sells the decals for $4.25 (USD) per pair.

Man, there is something inexplicably magical about moving images. GIFs are currently living large as the forever-looping medium of choice, but the ol’ timey zoetrope is having a bit of a renaissance.
Vinyl may have had its day—hell, some readers of this site may never have seen it in action—but for a small group of dedicated fans, it still lives on
I’m not sure why, but family stick figure decals on cars always annoy me. Maybe I’m just jealous I didn’t think of the idea first. Anyway, I actually find these Star Trek decals to be pretty cool. Carpooling: The Final Frontier.
This set doesn’t just include a few decals either. All of your Trek favorites are here and they look great. You get a total of 32 decals in the set, with 23 different characters from the original series.
- Tall characters (4 3/4″ tall): Capt. Kirk, Spock, Nurse Chapel, Uhura, McCoy, Sulu, Scotty, Chekov, Yeoman Rand, Romulan (female), Andorian, Gorn, Isis, Klingon (male), Orion (female)
- Short characters (3 3/4″ tall): Capt. Kirk x 2, Spock x 2, Nurse Chapel x 2, Uhura, Chekov
- Other: M-113 Creature (5 3/4″ tall) , Mugato (4 1/2″), Tribbles (1″) x 6, Star Trek logo

One of my favorite moments from the Star Wars movies is when Han Solo gets encased in carbonite for his trip to Jabba the Hutt. We have seen plenty of products over the years featuring the likeness of Han Solo stuck in his carbonite tomb. One of the coolest was the carbonite desk .
While it’s not as cool as the desk, you can actually own this Han Solo in carbonite door sticker. The sticker looks like its 3D with Solo’s hands really sticking out of it, but it’s flat.
The sticker is easily removable according to the product page and can be reapplied to another door once removed. It sounds like this is sort of along the lines of a Fathead wall sticker. The only downside I see is that if your doors have any indented pattern on them, this won’t work, though you could always just stick it on your wall.
The Han Solo in carbonite sticker is available on Amazon for about $100(USD). Just be on the lookout for Boushh, or Han might escape from your trophy wall.
