The 360 Fly Can Capture Your Entire World

A Pittsburgh-based tech company approached us on the CES 2014 show floor last week and asked for a bit of time to talk about their product, a small ball that can take panoramic video and is rugged enough to be strapped to a helmet or surf board. The product, called the 360fly, is still in beta but the company wanted to show it to us – complete with male surfer model – so we could get an idea of how the device worked.

The company’s previous products, the GoPano line, sold very well. The products connected to your iPhone and allowed you to take panoramic video anywhere using the iPhone’s own camera. This idea isn’t particularly new but I think the 360fly is a fascinating refinement of the product.

We’ll update you when these guys, Voxx, have more to show. Until then, enjoy seeing a poor man in board shorts and a t-shirt smile uncomfortably as I talk to the founder.

SoundFlow Soundboard Portable Speaker from VOXX kisses goodbye to wires

soundflowThe folks over at VOXX Accessories have just announced the launch of the SoundFlow Soundboard portable speaker, so if you have been on the lookout for something like it all this while, now might be the time to check this out. The SoundFlow Soundboard Portable Speaker would be able to let you enjoy smartphone audio instantly in a big way, where there is no need for pesky wires which tend to get all tangled up, all the while doing away with having to pair up or to connect to another device. All you need to do is to place any smartphone on top of the Soundboard, and the SoundFlow wireless audio will get the rest of the job done.

When it comes to brand compatibility, you can more or less say that the SoundFlow Soundboard Portable Speaker will be able to support virtually all brands and models that you can find in the market today where smartphones are concerned. In fact, just about any portable device that has a built-in speaker will be able to get the job done with the Soundboard. If you are interested inwhat the Soundboard is able to do, it will arrive in a trio of different colors and models, and they are SP20WHBK (white top, chrome trim and black bottom), SP20WDBK (woodgrain top, chrome trim and black bottom), and SP20BKGR (matte black top, lime green trim and black bottom).

Just like how all good solutions tend to come about as a result of a problem in the past, so too, the same applies with the SoundFlow wireless audio technology. It was developed by VOXX because they realized that nearly 80% of smartphone users who listen to music from their phones rely on the integrated speakers 55% of the time, so the SoundFlow Soundboard was developed in order to introduce an easy solution for smartphone users to enjoy enhanced sound quality and amplification without breaking the bank.

After all, with an asking price of just $29.99 a pop, not buying the SoundFlow Soundboard Portable Speaker does sound criminal indeed.

Voxx Accessories shows off hassle-free Soundboard for wireless audio (hands-on)

soundflow

Voxx Accessories (formerly Audiovox) launched its newest Soundflow wireless audio product at CTIA this week: the Soundboard. The idea is quite simple; place just about any handset on the 3-AA battery powered Soundboard while it plays your favorite music and the device instantly amplifies and rebroadcasts it through its own built in speakers. No pairing, no wires and no hassle is the name of the game.

The concept and its ease of use is really slick, though sadly, the execution is sub-par because even if the tech works perfectly the sound is pretty terrible. The housing is so small that there is simply no bass at all so the resultant audio quality is high pitched and tinny. Voxx’s rep did mention that the speaker still needs tuning, so we’ll definitely wait ’til we run into it again for final judgment on the Soundboard’s sonic abilities. So until that time we’ll save its $29.99 list price for a decent NFC-enabled speaker that delivers almost exactly the same no muss no fuss wireless experience. Pics of the Soundboard are in the gallery below.

Voxx combining broadcast TV with Roku in Q4 2013, working with RCA and Terk

Voxx bringing broadcast TV to Roku in Q1 2013, working with RCA and Terk

Roku may have lots of streaming content as is, but that doesn’t always compare with what’s on broadcast television. Voxx Accessories (formerly Audiovox) sees this problem too, but rather than just pointing it out idly (like us!), the accessory maker claims it has a fix. That solution includes an integrated digital antenna, creating a solution that pulls in broadcast TV (read: “over-the-air local HD broadcasts”), plus the features of Roku’s Streaming Stick. We won’t see the fruition of those efforts until late 2013, and when it does arrive, it’ll come in collaboration with RCA and Terk (as seen in the first two product images above). The only bad thing we can find about this mashup of old school OTA and the latest in IPTV? That it’s not here yet.
