JimmyCASE Wood iPhone/Samsung Galaxy S4 Case Doubles as a Wallet

If you’re in the market for a smartphone case and looking for something a bit different than all of the others out there, you might want to check out the JimmyCASE.

The JimmyCASE offers the stylish looks of a wooden case, but also the practicality of a wallet case. The case combines a silicone bumper with a genuine mahogany backing to protect your phone. Wrapped over the wood back is a stretchy piece of custom-designed elastic which can hold credit cards and money.

In my experience, I was able to stack my license and three credit cards, as well as a few dollar bills under the elastic without a problem, and with even a single credit card, it held securely. And even with the wallet loaded up, the iPhone’s camera and flash are completely unencumbered.

The sides of the case offer a nice textured grip to them, and there are openings for the charging port, speakers, headphone jack, microphone, and mute switch. Volume and power controls are hidden beneath silicone, which keeps stuff from getting into them, but still providing enough tactile feel to be usable.

Of course, the JimmyCASE is about style too, so you can choose from four different elastic fabrics at this point, including the navy blue and black striped of my review unit, gray/orange, navy/orange, and a preppy kind of pink with colorful stripes. In addition to the iPhone 5/5S variant, it’s can be had in iPhone 4, iPhone 5C and Samsung Galaxy S4 models.

The JimmyCASE is available for order now, and sells for $39(USD).

‘Living Wallet’ Chastises You for Spending too Much Money

Some people spend like there’s no tomorrow, even though they might not have the means to pay for all of their purchases. It’s only when they’re neck-deep in debt that they realize the importance of saving.

A concept that aims to present saving in a unique way is the Living Wallet.

Living Wallet 620x339magnify

It’s a concept design where the wallet basically “lives” and implores its owner to save and only spend when the owner’s budget has a favorable balance.

It has three save modes: Evade, which has the wallet rolling away on it’s built-in wheels so that it’s owner can’t get to it; Asking for Help, where it basically “screams” for help so that other people can chastise the owner before he or she can take any money out of it; and Last Resort, where the wallet sends a text message to the owner’s parents. It also has a fourth mode called Consumption Mode, which encourages you to spend money when you’ve got the money to spare.

The Living Wallet was designed by Yasuharu Sasaki, Kentaro Sagara, Noriaki Onoe, Satoshi Kuno, Rei Kawai, Hideyuki Saito, Yui Gokita, and Daichi Sato.

OtterBox Commuter Series Wallet Case Protects Your iPhone

If you’re anything like me, you always have your smartphone with you. I always have a fear of losing something in my pocket, especially my car keys, so it drives me crazy to have a lot of things stuffed inside the pockets of my jeans. If you like to go a bit more minimalist and don’t want to have to carry your smartphone and your wallet, OtterBox has a new case that you might appreciate.

The case is called the Commuter Series Wallet and is available for the iPhone 5/5S and the Samsung Galaxy S4. This certainly isn’t the first case on the market to offer wallet capability, but it does look like OtterBox’s offering will hold more than a lot of other cases on the market. OtterBox is also well-known for making cases that actually protects your phone in the event of a drop.

Rather than having slots, this smartphone case has a sliding drawer on the back that appears to be approximately a quarter of an inch deep. You can cram credit cards, driver’s license, and cash inside the wallet drawer and have them with you at all times. The only downside I see is that the case is rather thick and might not fit in your pocket if you’re the sort who wears skinny jeans.

The Commuter Series Wallet is available now from OtterBox for $44.95(USD).

Google Wallet For iOS Now Available

Google Wallet For iOS Now Available It was just this week when we brought you word that Google Wallet will arrive on non-NFC capable devices which run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, making those as really, really old handsets, relatively speaking of course. Well, are there any other mobile platforms out there that might benefit from Google Wallet? Surprise of the day, the answer is a resounding “Yes!”. Google Wallet for iOS is now available to iPhone users, so that they can take advantage of this payment app.

With Google Wallet for iOS, one is now able to transfer dough to friends, keep track of numerous loyalty cards as well as nearby offers, as well as another PIN number for you to remember so that you can ensure nothing inside your Google Wallet would be spent even if you accidentally lose your tablet or smartphone. One thing you would want to take note of where Google Wallet for iOS is concerned – it will not support NFC connectivity on iOS-powered devices. Basically, as long as your iOS device runs on iOS 6.0 or better, you are good to go. With the many millions expected to pick up the iPhone 5S as well as the iPhone 5C tomorrow stateside, you can be sure that Google Wallet is about to receive a slew of download requests by then, too.

Google Wallet finally makes its iOS debut, sans NFC

Google Wallet finally makes its iOS debut, sans NFC

Hey iPhone users, Google Wallet is here! The payments app has finally arrived for iOS devices, bringing with it transfers to friends, loyalty card tracking and nearby offers. Tap-to-pay is notably absent, as iOS devices don’t support NFC, but much of the other Wallet functionality does appear to have made its way to the App Store. As for security, you can keep things locked up using a PIN, and if you lose your phone or tablet, the app can be disabled remotely via Google’s site. Google Wallet for iOS, version 2.0.10206, is available today for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices running iOS 6.0 or better.

Google Wallet Arriving On Android 2.3 Gingerbread Phones Soon

Google Wallet Arriving On Android 2.3 Gingerbread Phones SoonTime certainly flies, and it has been over two years after the Internet search giant Google launched a platform which was specially designed to transform compatible Android smartphones into digital wallets. Well, here is some good news for those of you who are still running Android 2.3 Gingerbread – Google has just announced that it will be offering Google Wallet to all smartphones that have at least Android 2.3 as the operating system of choice.

Up till now, only those with smartphones that feature NFC (Near Field Communication) chips are able to make use of Google Wallet, and most of the time, these NFC-enabled devices tend to rank pretty high up on the flagship scale, which would in turn also mean that the Android operating system is a whole lot more up to date compared to older Android 2.3 Gingerbread powered devices. Well, with the latest Google Wallet app that is less picky on which version of Android you are running on, you can now use Google Wallet sans an NFC chip. With that, you are able to send money to anyone in the US with an email address, scan barcodes on store loyalty cards and enter them in your device, save “offers” from Google Maps, Search, or other areas to redeem coupons in stores as well as check out your purchase activity.

Updated Google Wallet app for Android delivers easier mobile payments

Updated Google Wallet app for Android delivers easier mobile payments

Android users, this is where you unashamedly stick your tongue out at iOS loyalists while making childish noises with your lips. (In your fantasies, at least — that’s pretty rude to do in real life.) The Google Wallet app for Android has just been revised, with users in the United States told to expect it in phases throughout the week. One of the biggest additions is the ability to send cash on the go to any adult in the US with an email address — as is the case in Gmail, sending money directly from one’s bank or one’s Wallet account is free, while the usual fees apply if you’re dinging that credit card. Plus, if you’re still waiting for the option to send money in Gmail, just using this app once will automatically enable that.

Moreover, the app is doing its darndest to replace Key Ring, allowing individuals to load loyalty cards of all types directly into the app. In theory, this should cut down on how much plastic you have to carry around, but we’ve still seen stores that have a heck of a time scanning a digital rewards card. If you’re into saving money, Wallet now holds offers from Maps, Google Search, Google+ and Google Offers, and we get the impression that the company will be allying with a number of merchants in the near future in order to make this particular tidbit more attractive. Head on over to the Google Play Store to see if the new build is showing up for you.
