Clean water can be hard to come by, especially when you’re in the great outdoors or traveling in areas that don’t have sufficient facilities. While you might come by a water source, the water is probably unsafe for drinking and might contain contaminants or pollutants that might make you sick.
Small, portable water filtration systems are already available, but Vapur goes one step further by including an actual water bottle with their system.
Vapur already manufactures a line of foldable and collapsible water bottles that are widely used by travelers and those who want a convenient way to store and transport water.
Vapur calls their portable water purification system MicroFilter. It’s packaged and sold with the 1-L Eclipse Anti-Bottle, and both weigh just 2.7 oz (77 g) when empty. The 0.2-micron filter can remove 99.9999 percent of waterborne bacteria and 99.9 percent of protozoa, although it can’t remove viruses like most other filters.
Vapur’s new portable filtration system has received recognition from publications like Outside and National Geographic. The MicroFilter system was launched this week and can be purchased for $69.99(USD).

Scientists already had an inkling that water helped form the landscape on Mars, but they’re now ready to confirm that claim. In a report written for Science, researchers state that the smooth, rounded shape of the Red Planet’s pebbles and the way they overlap is identical to the gravel formation found in Earth’s rivers. They appear to be too large to be blown by wind, and their varied shades indicate they were transported from various locations — telltale signs of a former stream. “For decades, we have speculated and hypothesized that the surface of Mars was carved by water, but this is the first time where you can see the remnants of stream flow with what are absolutely tell-tale signs,” said Rebecca Williams to the BBC. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of water on Mars, but the idea of a Martian river does make us wonder if Marvin had a favorite fishing hole.

Liquid Lifebar: Trippy HP
Posted in: Today's ChiliLava lamp? Pfff. YouTuber bfayer made a life-a-lamp. His calls his invention the Liquid Lifebar. It reflects to the amount of health or mana of his character in Terraria in real time. If he has a lot of health, the lamp’s water level is high and it glows a healthy green. But if he gets hit, the water level drops and the color gets warmer. When it turns red, he’s dead.
Bfayer made a time-lapse video of his build process. You can see the Liquid Lifebar spring to life at about 3:50 in:
Check the video’s description on YouTube to see the complete parts list. It would be awesome if bfayer could make it work in reverse as well, i.e. the Liquid Lifebar dictates the amount of his character’s health or mana.

Water bottles are basically banned in most exams I’ve taken, and it’s easy to see why. Students can get so creative at cheating that even a pen itself can be used for that purpose. Case in point? The White Weasel’s editable and printable Aquafina label that lets students create cheat sheets that look like water bottle labels.
The only challenge is finding a printer that can print this stuff on shiny plastic. It’ll look way suspicious if you showed up to the test with a water bottle wrapped in printed paper, don’t you think? Especially if you keep staring at it during the duration of the test. Now that’s a dead giveaway.
But all kidding aside, we don’t condone cheating in any way, so if you do have a test coming up, get off the Internet and crack those books open. Your future self will thank you for it.

I have so many questions about being able to filter water out of coke. I don’t even care why. But does it tast like Coke flavored water? Or water flavored coke? Or maybe even just carbonated sugar water without the cola? The guy makes it seem like it taste disgusting and that’s the complete opposite of Coca Cola.
