Google Teams Up With Maker Of Ray-Ban And Oakleys For Future Glass Models

Google Teams Up With Maker Of Ray Ban And Oakleys For Future Glass ModelsThere are some who might find Google Glass to be a little strange in its design. I personally find it very striking and unique, not to mention very futuristic. However given the hostility that people have been facing over it, perhaps designing it to look more discreet could be the way to go.

Perhaps that’s something Google has realized or perhaps it’s just another step towards making Google Glass more fashionable, but according to a recent announcement, Google has revealed that they have teamed up with the Luxottica Group who has eyewear brands like Oakleys and Ray-Ban under its banner, just to name a few. Google Glass Spyware Can Take Photos Without The Wearer’s Knowledge

Google Glass Spyware Can Take Photos Without The Wearers KnowledgeThere are establishments and people who do not appreciate Google Glass, and it is understandable why. After all unlike smartphones or cameras, it is not obvious when a photo of video is being filmed, which can lead to some people feeling like their privacy is being invaded.

Of course some argue that there is a light indicator that shows when a photo or video is being recorded, and that the feature has to be activated in order for it to work. However security researchers, Mike Lady and Kim Paterson, have created a spyware for Google Glass that will allow photos to be taken without either the wearer or the subject’s knowledge! (more…)

Project Morpheus’ Specs Reportedly Pretty Close To 2nd Gen Oculus Rift

Project Morpheus Specs Reportedly Pretty Close To 2nd Gen Oculus RiftDuring GDC 2014, Sony and Oculus Rift both had virtual reality headset announcements. For Sony it was the announcement of Project Morpheus, a virtual reality headset designed for gaming, and for Oculus Rift, it was the announcement of the Development Kit 2 that would be going up for pre-order.

While Sony would seem like a strong competitor to Oculus Rift, the latter appears to be pretty pleased with Sony’s entrance, stating that with Sony entering into the fray, it lends the technology a bit more credibility. That being said, Digital Foundry has analyzed both Project Morpheus and Oculus Rift and has discovered that Sony’s headset is pretty close to the Oculus Rift’s headset in terms of specs. (more…)

Oculus Rift Welcomes Sony’s Project Morpheus With Open Arms

Oculus Rift Welcomes Sonys Project Morpheus With Open ArmsDuring GDC 2014, Sony took the wraps off their own virtual reality headset, Project Morpheus. The folks at Oculus Rift were definitely not going to stand by and do nothing which is why they have also announced the Oculus Rift Development Kit 2 that they would begin taking pre-orders for. That being said, it certainly looks like a rivalry has been created.

However the folks at Oculus Rift have been in it a bit longer than Sony, at least as far as VR gaming is concerned. On the other hand, Sony has the experience and the resources to help make up for the lost time, so how does Oculus Rift feel about Sony entering into the fray? (more…)

Motorola Moto 360 Smartwatch, presented by Jim Wicks, Design Chief at Motorola

Two days ago, Motorola announced the Moto 360, its smartwatch powered by Android Wear. Except for the few pictures and the few Android Wear functions that Google and Motorola described in their official blog posts, we do not know much about the exact specifications. We were invited yesterday to a hangout with Jim Wicks, CVP Consumer Experience design at Motorola and we were hoping to learn a little more.

“TIME WAS THE INSPIRATION”   Unfortunately, except for the concept and the ideas behind the round shape and the Android Wear interface, he did not share the main information we are all waiting for: no pricing, no exact release date, no battery life, no display type, no processor type no resolution were provided.

We learned a few things though: the round interface is standard in Android Wear, the SDK for a choice of a square or a round interface, the Moto 360 will be compatible with Android 4.3+ devices, it will probably only feature wireless charging or a new type of connector-less charging system, the casing is made of stainless steel with a brushed finish and a gloss finish on the edges and you will be able to see the time constantly.

Last but not least, time was the inspiration for the round shape and since 80% of the traditional watches sold in the world are round (according to Jim Wicks), we predict that Android Wear will power watches made by traditional manufacturers in the future. To learn more details about what Jim Wicks had to say about the Moto 360, read the full article.

Ubisoft Expresses Reserve Over Virtual Reality GamingVirtual reality gaming could be the next big thing, or won’t it? Well obviously there is plenty of interest for it because at GDC 2014, Sony unveiled Project Morpheus which is the company’s take on virtual reality gaming, and the folks at Oculus Rift have announced the pre-orders for the Oculus Rift Development Kit 2.

Heck, there are even rumors that suggests that Microsoft could be getting into the virtual reality gaming industry themselves, although no word on when Microsoft will be making that announcement yet. That being said, it seems the VR is gaining a fair amount of attention but Ubisoft still remains slightly skeptical. (more…)

Fitbit Hit With Lawsuit Over Skin Rashes

Fitbit Hit With Lawsuit Over Skin RashesIf you were wondering why have your electronics retailers stopped stocking the Fitbit Force fitness band, you probably haven’t been following the news. Earlier this year, Fitbit Force users complained that the device caused them skin irritations.

After a little bit of back and forth, Fitbit decided the best course is to perform a product recall and work with a government agency to determine what was the issue. It seemed like standard procedure, but it seems that some people felt that Fitbit were misleading in their actions which has since led to a San Diego law firm filing a lawsuit against the company. Moto 360 To Feature “Secret” Charging Method

Moto 360 To Feature Secret Charging MethodIt was just recently that Motorola announced the Moto 360, a smartwatch that would be powered by Google’s Android Wear. Unfortunately not much is known about the Moto 360 for now since Motorola hasn’t exactly shared all of the details regarding the device yet, and one of the questions that many are probably wondering is how will the Moto 360 charge?

After all there does not appear to be any visible USB connection on the watch, but it turns out that Motorola is keeping that a secret as well, as they mentioned during the Moto 360 Hangout-on-Air earlier today. (more…)
