Samsung ‘S-Circle’ Activity Tracker Pops Up At FCC

Samsung S Circle Activity Tracker Pops Up At FCC

Samsung is one of the biggest vendors that is venturing deep into the wearable device arena. Recently it showed off two new Galaxy Gear smartwatches as well as the Gear Fit fitness tracker. These wearable devices were all launched alongside the Galaxy S5 at the Mobile World Congress 2014. All this despite the fact that the wearable devices it released last year didn’t have a good run. Perhaps Samsung is going with its much debated “gadget spam” strategy once again, this time focusing it on the wearable market. Apparently there’s yet another such device up Samsung’s sleeve, an activity tracker called “S-Circle,” which has popped up at the FCC.

Wearable Bluetooth Ring; We’re Calling It “Precious”

bluetooth RingThis may not be the One Ring to rule them all, but it could definitely allow you to have the power of controlling many devices with the flick of your finger. Logbar’s Ring is a Bluetooth device fitted with an accelerometer that is capable of recognizing finger gestures. Depending on the gestures you make, you have the ability to send texts, turn on your music, and check emails just by simply writing in the air.

The Ring will alert you of new texts and emails by either vibration or LED lights that light up on the side of the Ring. According to Logbar, the Ring can perform up to 1000 gestures before the battery needs to be recharged. There are so many “pros” to this device it’s hard to tell you about them all in this article. Here is the Kickstarter video that shows all the amazing things this little device can do. But you know us, we had to find some “cons” and here are a couple. One, you cannot get it wet. So if you are an avid hand washer you will have to remember to remove the Ring and then remember to put it back on. Two, once the battery wears out, it’s all done. There is no way to replace the battery, so you will just need to replace the entire device for a mere $150.

As of right now, the Ring is compatible with iOS and Android devices, but they do have plans to release a Windows Phone version in the future. Their Kickstarter campaign has 29 days left and has currently doubled its goal of $250,000. If you would like to be one of the first to own your own “Precious”, sign up on their Kickstarter and donate a minimum of $165 and you will have one in your possession by June 2014.

Fitbit Working With Government Agency To Resolve Fitbit Force Skin Irritations

Fitbit Working With Government Agency To Resolve Fitbit Force Skin IrritationsYou might recall that earlier this year, there were several Fitbit Force users who had complained that the fitness band had given them skin irritations. While Fitbit claims that the issue is not widespread, the company has decided to recall the products anyway just to be safe.

According to Fitbit’s CEO, he claimed that the company had done their own testing and could find nothing wrong with the product. However it seems that whatever it is that is causing the skin irritations has yet to be resolved, to the extent where the company has recently revealed that they are working with the government’s Consumer Products Safety Commission to determine what could be the cause. Samsung Galaxy Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, Gear Fit Pricing Revealed [Rumor]

Samsung Galaxy Gear 2, Gear 2 Neo, Gear Fit Pricing Revealed [Rumor]At MWC 2014, Samsung not only announced a new wearable device, but three wearable devices to be exact. They come in the form of the Galaxy Gear 2, the Galaxy Gear 2 Neo, and the Gear Fit. All three devices were intriguing, although safe to say that the Gear Fit was the one that probably garnered the most attention.

In any case while the devices were announced, pricing remained a mystery as Samsung did not reveal the prices of any of their recently announced wearables. Now if there was one thing that held the Galaxy Gear back was its asking price, which admittedly was a little steep given its features. Now thanks to a post by SamMobile on Twitter, pricing of all three devices have been revealed. (more…)

Motorolas Smartwatch Will Be Arriving Later This YearIn 2014, it is safe to say that we can look forward to more wearable devices hitting the market. In fact we’ve already seen Samsung release a trio of wearable devices in the form of the Galaxy Gear 2, Galaxy Gear Neo, and the Galaxy Gear Fit. Google Lobbying Against Legislation Banning Glass For Drivers [Report]

Google Lobbying Against Legislation Banning Glass For Drivers [Report]

Google Glass hasn’t been released to the public as yet, though it is expected to some time later this year. For over a year now this wearable gadget has been in what’s called an “Explorer Program,” whereby select individuals are invited to purchase a unit for $1,500. There have already been some run ins with the law, a woman in California was ticketed for using Glass while driving, she fought the ticket claiming that it wasn’t actually being used and that she was merely wearing it, the argument held up in court. As many as eight states in the U.S. are considering legislation that would ban drivers from having Google Glass on when they’re on the road. Reuters reports that Google is lobbying officials in at least three states to stop similar legislation from going through.
