Retina iPad Mini In-Store Tracker Tool Is Live

Retina iPad Mini In Store Tracker Tool Is LiveWe know the feeling of going to the Apple store, asking for a product, only to find out it’s out of stock, and have this experience repeated in the next 2-3 stores you visit. This is why when the website Apple-tracker.com was live, it made things a lot more convenient. Apple did not appreciate this and has since ordered the website to be shutdown. Well it looks like Apple could be issuing a new shutdown notice in the near future as a new tool has made its way online, this time to help Retina iPad mini customers find out which store has the tablet in stock.

Oddly enough this tool is being hosted on Seaturtle.org, which we guess is a way to help hide it by keeping its name discreet and obscure, and definitely not as obvious as Apple-tracker.com. The website will offer users a grid in which it lists the availability of Retina iPad minis for every Apple retail store in the US. This tool also appears to be crowd sourced, meaning that if an area runs out of stock or if the information is unavailable, users will be able to edit the individual cells accordingly. As it stands walk-in sales are not allowed until supply has been stabilized, so you’d have to make a personal pickup.

In any case as it stands, carriers such as AT&T and Verizon have announced that they are backorderd on the Retina iPad mini, so hopefully this tool will be able to help out with those looking to get their hands on the tablet.

    Twitter Launches Custom Timelines

    Twitter Launches Custom Timelines

Twitter, the world’s second largest social network behind Facebook, has launched a new feature today called custom timelines. Users will have the ability to name their custom timelines and add tweets to it, so basically they’ll have a separate timeline that they curate which only displays tweets related to a particular topic or hashtag. These timelines can be embedded on websites and can be easily shared with others as they’ll be public and will have their own page on twitter.com.

The feature will definitely make it easier to follow topics or events in real-time, related tweets will be displayed in an entirely different timeline and users won’t have to comb through their main Twitter timeline to locate them. This goes beyond the existing lists feature by offering more customization and sharing options. Twitter will allow developers to tap into custom timelines through the new API beta it announced today. TweetDeck will be the first app to incorporate this new feature, users can create custom timelines within the app and simply drag and drop tweets from the other columns to populate them. The feature will be rolled out to TweetDeck for web, Chrome and PC over the next few days, while it will be “coming soon” to the Mac app.

Bing Launches A New Way To Discover Music Videos

Bing Launches A New Way To Discover Music Videos

Bing now offers users a whole new way to explore, discover and browse music videos on the search engine. It has been built from the ground up to make it easier for users to access music videos, Bing says that this new experience was designed with music lovers in mind and that it has them covered if they want to search for music videos from artists they’re already familiar with or if they’re looking to discover the up and coming artists.

So when the user searches for a music video from any artist, Bing will display the most popular video in the top left of the screen and the most relevant and popular music video for an artist, album or song will be displayed in the upper right. Bing will pull in videos from YouTube, MTV, Artist Direct, Vimeo and more. Users won’t have to click through to a site to see if its the video they want to see, they can see a preview by simply hovering the cursor over the thumbnail. Moreover, Bing will also display all of the tracks in an album if the user clicks on the album title in the right hand menu. With half a million albums and over 1.7 million songs from over 70,000 artists, the Bing team believes that this new feature will be “music to your ears.”

Gmail Attachments Can Now Directly Be Saved To Google Drive

Gmail Attachments Can Now Directly Be Saved To Google Drive

Google has announced yet another new feature for Gmail today, its the ability to save documents directly to Google Drive from within the email itself. Just yesterday Gmail was updated to supercharge “quick action” buttons, which now support a variety of different services like OpenTable, Google Offers and more. The ability to save documents directly to Google Drive eliminates the need for downloading attachments on the device if you don’t want to, and since attachments are stored in the cloud, they’re easily accessible any time through any device, be it a computer, phone or tablet.

Emails in the Gmail inbox will now show previews of attached files at the bottom, everything from photos and videos to spreadsheets and PDFs will be previewed. Clicking on the preview will open a full screen view of the document in Gmail, here users can search for a particular phrase, browse through multiple attachments to just take a a quick peek at a file. Hover the cursor over the preview and a Drive button will appear, clicking on it will save the file to Google Drive. Those who want to download the attachments on their computer can click the arrow button. This new attachment experience will be rolling out over next week to Gmail desktop users.

Facebook Requires Users Compromised By Adobe Hack To Change Passwords

Facebook Requires Users Compromised By Adobe Hack To Change Passwords

Quite a lot of people use the same password for almost all of their online accounts, and while pros and cons of this practise can be debated at length, there’s no denying the fact that if one account gets compromised, all accounts run the risk of being compromised. Recently Adobe was hit by a large scale hack, with as many as 38 million user accounts reportedly being exposed. Facebook has now started to lock out users who have used the same password for the social network as well, user’s can’t access the network until and unless they change their passwords.

Users will also have to answer a few questions to verify ownership of the account before they can change password and finally log in. They’ll be displayed a notification like the one posted above, which clearly states that “no one can see you” on the social network until you finish this process. To ascertain which of its over 1 billion users have been put at risk due to the Adobe hack, Facebook is combing through publicly posted database of the compromised accounts. The hack doesn’t directly affect Facebook in any way, the social network is taking this step to ensure that compromised users don’t run in to problems on the social network as well.
