Gmail ‘Quick Action’ Buttons Now Support Dropbox, OpenTable And More

Gmail Quick Action Buttons Now Support Dropbox, OpenTable And More

Google announced today that it has supercharged the Gmail “quick action” buttons. These buttons appear in your inbox alongside the emails, and they have now gained one-click access to a host of services such as Dropbox, OpenTable, Google Offers, Seamless and more. So users can now rate and review restaurants they ordered from through Seamless and even modify OpenTable reservations straight from their Gmail inbox, without actually having to open an email. The quick action buttons can also be used to view YouTube and Vimeo videos, open Dropbox folders and save promotions from Google Offers.

The buttons can also be used to open Google Docs, Sheets and Slides that have been shared with a user. Checking real-time flight status, double checking flight details and even RSVP’ing to events is made possible by quick action buttons. The list of services supported by quick action buttons will continue to grow, and Google says that it will continue to add more buttons to make it easier for users to accomplish various tasks from within the inbox itself. Not only will the buttons make relevant emails stand out, particularly in inboxes that are crowded, they’ll also drive interaction for the services they’re linked to. Sounds like a win-win, doesn’t it?

Amazon To Offer Sunday Deliveries For Prime Customers

Amazon To Offer Sunday Deliveries For Prime CustomersPurchasing goods online is a great way to get your hands on items that your local retailers might not stock, especially if you’re looking for books where Amazon’s online store is probably one of the best places to do so. Unfortunately one of the drawbacks to online delivery is that we have to put up with the operating hours of delivery services which are usually on weekdays, but wouldn’t it be awesome if our goods could get delivered on the weekends as well? Well the good news for Amazon Prime customers is that the answer is a resounding YES.

This was announced by Amazon as the company has revealed that they have teamed up with the United States Postal Service (USPS) where Prime customers will have their orders delivered to them on Sundays. This service is expected to kick off in New York and Los Angeles and will see an expansion to other cities such as Dallas, Houston, New Orleans, Phoenix, and more over the course of the next year. It is unclear as to whether Amazon will extend this service to customers purchasing from overseas, although we reckon it might get pretty complicated given that they might have a lot of different mail services to negotiate, but one can hope, right? YouTube Co-Founder Isn’t A Fan Of The New Commenting System

YouTube Co Founder Isnt A Fan Of The New Commenting System

Google first talked about the overhaul of YouTube’s commenting system back in September, when it revealed that it will start implementing users’ Google+ profiles. Basically what this means is that whoever wants to comment on YouTube now needs a Google+ account. This update hasn’t exactly been well received, the video that Google posted on YouTube describing the change has already received a lot of negative comments. One of the co-founders of YouTube itself, Jawed Karim, has expressed his displeasure over this change. Karim posted a question on his channel asking why the “f—” does he need a Google+ account to comment on a video.

Google’s point of view is that the new commenting system puts comments from “people you care about” first. The system personalizes comments for each user, displaying comments from people in their Google+ circles first, after that they can see comments by other users. However, users do retain the option of seeing the most recent comments like before through the “Newest First” layout.  Meanwhile, a number of YouTube users say that they won’t use Google+ to comment on videos, and since there’s no other way to comment, they’ll just have to stop giving their two cents on the videos they watch. Evidently this change has ruffled quite a few feathers, do you think Google might compromise a little here or has it changed the dynamics of YouTube comments once and for all?
