Visualized The $15,000 Westinghouse 4K Whiteboard

We like dry erase whiteboards just as much as the next guy, but $15,000 like? Not so much. Of course, when we’re given a chance to check out an 84-inch 4K LED whiteboard for free, we’re more than happy to. And that’s how we ended up here at Westinghouse‘s Consumer Electronics Week booth, playing around with an unbelievably expensive toy. Yes, of course the multimillion dollar corporations of the world use stuff like this for work — we used our time to draw an Engadget symbol. Do you expect any less?

The Most Awesomest Televisions at CES 2013

2013 is shaping up to be a huge year for huge televisions. Almost every major brand is rolling out gigantic sets and packing them with four times the resolution of current TVs. One curved display is even redefining what constitutes a “flat screen” TV, period. Here’s what to watch in 2013. More »

Westinghouse’s 110-inch 4K television costs $300,000, is built to order (eyes-on)

Westinghouse's 110inch 4K television is built to order, fill your living room eyeson

We must admit, we were a bit surprised when we heard that Westinghouse — not exactly the first name in HDTV — would be bringing a 110-inch 4K HDTV to CES. Naturally, once we got to Vegas, we had to see the thing for ourselves. Its size is as impressive as you imagine, and the native-res 4K video looked really good on such a massive screen, with nearly 180-degree viewing angles and vibrant colors. Unfortunately, the unit we saw was an engineering test mule, so the back was all exposed panels and circuit boards and there was some ghosting on the screen itself. However, we were assured that those willing to pony up the obscene $300,000 asking price can get a flaw-free TV custom installed via special order at the end of Q1 of this year. Want to see more of what all those dollars will get you? Check out our gallery of shots below.

Westinghouse 110-inch 4K TV eyes-on: massively giant

There’s nothing quite like a war between television manufacturers to bring our the WOW factor at CES, and this year’s Westinghouse presentation includes quite the looker – a 110-inch 4K TV that’ll just swallow your room up whole. This machine is not yet ready for the market, but certainly will be soon – coming in at a cool $300,000 USD when you want to pick yours up with your life savings. Of course this machine isn’t exactly built for the everyday consumer, but getting up close and personal with it will br bringing on the heat to anyone’s eyeballs and brain.

This beast is ready to scale up standard HD signal to fill its monstrous full screen display, running native 4K content with the greatest of ease as well. This is but one of several televisions that’ve been revealed this week by Westinghouse that’ll have you raising your eyebrows, the others being 50, 55, and 65-inch versions of this machine starting at $2,500, moving up to the middle with $3k, and ending on the largest for $4,000 USD.

Each of these sets will be available and shipping in the first quarter of 2013 and will be in stores save the largest of the pack. The giant 110-inch model will be made to order, respecting the idea that if you’re going to pay that amount of cash for a television, the company is going to take care of you. Shake hands with Westinghouse with a 4K television this coming season – and play some Mario Brothers while you’re at it to see how giant the pixels are.

It should be made clear that when we got the opportunity to see this 2013 lineup this week, we saw images so bright and so sharp that we’ll have a difficult time ever looking at a lesser machine again. The room these beasts were in were engulfed in their undeniable wave of image power. Have a peek at the images we have of them above and below, but know that it’s not entirely possible to capture their excellence without your own eyes on the spot.

Westinghouse Debuting Roku-Ready TVs At CES

Westinghouse Debuting Roku Ready TVs At CES

[CES 2013] Roku has made a big splash in the last couple of years with its suite of products, one of which is the Roku Streaming Stick which gives users the power of a full Roku experience without needing to run any additional cables through your home entertainment setup. This past summer, Roku announcedit would be working with a number of hardware partners to make sure their device plays well with theirs, but today, Westinghouse is announcing its upcoming TVs will be completely compatible with Roku’s Streaming Stick.

Westinghouse’s lineup of TVs being shown off at CES next week will have MHL-enabled HDMI inputs, which is exactly what Roku’s Streaming Stick needs in order to completely compatible. A number of TVs will be on display at CES, but only Westinghouse’s 60-inch LED TV will be bundled with a Roku Streaming Stick, while it’s smaller TVs may or may not receive bundles.

This move to support not only the Roku Streaming Stick, but other MHL-compatible devices will help consumers receive the benefit of a Smart TV while saving money on buying completely new TVs just to be able to benefit from new technology.

Westinghouse set to launch ‘Roku ready’ CES lineup of HD, 4K models

Westinghouse set to launch 'Roku ready' CES lineup of HD, 4K models

Westinghouse is already jockeying for CES 2013 position in the crowded connected-TV arena, saying it’ll announce a bevy of MHL-compliant models at the show that’ll work with Roku’s HDMI Streaming Stick. That would presumably give the panel maker Smart TV options without having to bake the circuitry into the new models, letting Roku take the load in providing WiFi connectivity along with 400 channels like Netflix, Amazon Instant Video and Hulu Plus — all accessible with the TV’s remote. Westinghouse teased LED side-lit models ranging from 27- to 60-inches that’ll have the option, along with UHDTV sets like the 110-incher it trumpeted earlier. Pricing and availability are still in the air until at least CES, of course, but considering the company’s lack of a premium reputation and the fact that you’d also need to purchase the $99 Roku stick, we don’t see them looking at the haut de gamme set.

Westinghouse To Unveil UHD Television Sets At CES 2013

2011 06 19 westinghouse Westinghouse To Unveil UHD Television Sets At CES 2013If you’re planning on picking up a brand new TV but you’d rather not blow a hole in your wallet doing so, then you might be interested to learn that budget HDTV manufacturer, Westinghouse, has plans to unveil a series of UHD television sets at CES 2013. This includes a whopping 110” model, along with smaller models sized at 50”, 55” and 65” respectively. All models will feature a UHD resolution of 3840×2160, native refresh rate of 120Hz and are expected to go on sale in the first quarter of 2013, although the 110” model will be sold as a custom order. Unfortunately no photos of the devices are available right now, and there is no word on pricing, but assuming Westinghouse keeps to its budget offerings, hopefully these will be some UHD TVs that will be slightly more affordable than the competition. We will be on hand at CES 2013, so if Westinghouse’s offerings are of interest to you, check back with us then for the details.

Westinghouse 110-inch 4K TV to ship alongside 65, 55 and 50-inch models in Q1

Westinghouse 110inch 4K TV to ship in Q1 alongside 65, 55 and 50inch models

Westinghouse has yet to become the premium HDTV manufacturer it one day hopes to be, and if the past is any indication, flooding the market with low-cost sets won’t drive you to the top. But the promise of high resolution might at least yield a modest bump. The company’s 2013 lineup is set to be dominated by 4K models, each packing 3840 x 2160-pixel panels for an “amazing” and “affordable” experience. The company’s flagship rings in at a massive 110 diagonal inches and will be available for custom order beginning sometime in Q1. 50, 55 and 65-inch versions will also ship within the same timeframe, offering the same resolution and a modest 120Hz native refresh rate. We’re still waiting to hear back on pricing and a hint of where you might be able to pick one of these UHDTVs up beginning early next year, but if the press release after the break is any indication, we’re about to be inundated with high-res, low-cost televisions at next month’s CES.
