Microsoft Was Interested In WhatsApp Too, According To Bill GatesBack in February, Facebook announced that they would be acquiring WhatsApp, an instant messaging app for mobile devices. The deal was valued at $19 billion and safe to say that many were shocked by this news, along with how much Facebook was willing to pay for it.

Security Flaw Allows WhatsApp’s Message History To Be Accessed By Hackers

Security Flaw Allows WhatsApps Message History To Be Accessed By HackersWhatsApp, for those unfamiliar, is one of the more popular instant messaging apps in the world. It was also recently acquired by Facebook. However it seems that despite the app being somewhat solid and good to use, there are some security flaws in the app itself which opens it up to hackers who wish to get their hands on message history.

This is according to Bas Bosschert, a technical consultant who has more than 10 years of experiencing with Linux and Unix, who claims to have recently discovered a flaw in which developers or hackers will be able to access WhatsApp users’ message history.  (more…)

Consumer Groups Wants FTC To Investigate Facebook/WhatsApp Deal

Consumer Groups Wants FTC To Investigate Facebook/WhatsApp DealA couple of weeks ago, Facebook had the industry in a frenzy when they announced that they would be acquiring instant messenger app, WhatsApp, for a whopping $19 billion, making it several more times more expensive than what they paid for Instagram which was $1 billion.

In a way this is a good move for Facebook as they would acquire one of the world’s most popular and most used instant messaging services, but it seems that not everyone is too pleased about the deal as two consumer groups have recently filed a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission, asking them to investigate the pending acquisition. WhatsApp For Windows Phone To Get More Privacy Features

WhatsApp For Windows Phone To Get More Privacy FeaturesIf you have used WhatsApp before, you know that WhatsApp provides statuses on you that your friends and contacts can see. Basically it tells them when was the last time that you were seen online on WhatsApp. It’s handy if you want to check if a particular number is still being used for WhatsApp, but at the same time can be kind of stalker-ish.

The good news is that WhatsApp for Windows Phone could soon be getting a new privacy feature which allows users to select who can see their “last seen” status, thus blocking off any stalkers and exes that you might not wish to keep in contact with, or at least not let them into your life anymore. WhatsApp Didn’t Receive A Buyout Offer From Google

WhatsApp Didnt Receive A Buyout Offer From Google

Contrary to the plethora of reports in the media that Facebook outbid Google for WhatsApp by offering an eye watering $19 billion, it appears that the popular cross platform messaging service didn’t receive a bid from Google in the first place. This comes directly from Android chief and Google SVP Sundar Pichai, so its safe to say that these comments have weight to them.
