Belkin unveils the NetCam HD WiFi camera, WeMo SMART functionality in tow for $150

Looking to keep an eye on things at home while you’re away? If so, Belkin is looking to lend a hand with an HD version of its NetCam WiFi camera. The device touts 720p video and digital audio capture for monitoring on-the-go and boasts easy setup with an Android or iOS smartphone and your home’s WiFi router — no need to fire up that PC. Need to monitor your goods at night? No problem. This model features night vision, just like its elder sibling. A companion app handles the mobile workload and email alerts can be pushed to your inbox when motion is detected — complete with a screenshot of the culprit. Additionally, the NetCam HD will launch with the recently outed WeMo SMART platform that leverages Belkin’s home automation tools for a variety of in-home gadgets and appliances. Units are slated to hit shelves this spring, hoping to pry $149.99 out of your wallet before outfitting your flat.

Transforming RC robot reaches production form packing heat and a WiFi camera (video)

Transforming RC robot car reaches production form packing heat and a WiFi camera video

If you’re like us, seeing that transforming RC robot in the spring was a mild form of torture without any clues as to when (and if) we could try it for ourselves. Kenji Ishida has clearly been busy assuaging our fears since then, as he just took the wraps from what should be the finished version of his brainchild. The now Brave Robotics-branded machine is more polished, with a 3D-printed shell, but it’s the technical upgrades that will have more of us scrambling for the product page: the production model is toting a missile launcher in each arm as well as a WiFi camera to follow its exploits in both car and robot modes. Anyone who wants the robot as quickly as possible will have to contact Ishida-san, if it’s not too late; there are just 10 units in the initial batch, and pricing is only available on request. A one-month wait for shipping will scuttle any hopes of getting one as a timely gift, too. That said, we can only imagine that any robotics fan would be ecstatic to get an IOU under the tree for Brave Robotics’ project.

Sony NEX-5R and NEX-6 allegedly get pictured, flaunt WiFi logos (updated with leaked press shots)

Sony NEX5R and NEX6 allegedly get pictured, flaunt WiFi logos

In early August, an Indonesian POSTEL listing revealed two new mirrorless NEX shooters in Sony’s pipeline, both reportedly rocking wireless LAN chips. Now VR-Zone seems to have come across certification photos of the two cameras, each modeling — you guessed it — its very own WiFi logo. As expected, this puts Sony’s ILC range inline with the wireless smorgasbord it laid out at CES, eschewing less native, accessory-based solutions. VR-Zone wagers that the NEX-5R will sell for about $700, and pegs the NEX-6 somewhere around $1000. Better start saving — hit the source link below for a better look at where your pocket money might be going.

Update: Sony Alpha Rumors has thrown in some more images of the NEX-5R, this time of the press shot kind. We’ve embedded a handful after the break.

Unannounced Sony NEX-5R and NEX-6 cameras could pack wireless connectivity

Sony NEX 5R and NEX 6 appear on Indonesian POSTEL database with WiFiconnectivity

Sony’s NEX camera series hasn’t made much noise so far this year, aside from its new entry-level F3 model. But that’s likely to change soon, with a pair of new mirrorless model numbers appearing in Indonesian POSTEL listings. They’ve since been nixed, but not before the eagle eyes at Sony Alpha Rumors plucked this screen grab of the NEX-5R and NEX-6. It’s the Wireless LAN part (which resulted in this listing) that’s piqued our interested, suggesting that Sony’s next generation of ILCs will also board the wireless connectivity train. There’s no more detail to glean from the listing, although rumors (and hopeful prayers) point to an announcement ahead of premier camera show, Photokina, which kicks off next month.

[Thanks Andrea]
