Nintendo Bundles Deluxe Wii U, ZombiU & Pro Controller For $390 Starting Feb 17

Nintendo Bundles Deluxe Wii U, ZombiU & Pro Controller For $390 Starting Feb 17

Even though Nintendo has been generally optimistic about its Wii U sales as just last month, they were crowing of its sales surpassing the Wii’s sales at the time of its launch, their new console has yet to be considered a hit. A number of hardware issues that will soon receive improvements, a lack of titles worth purchasing the system for as well as the latest news of once exclusive Rayman Legends now going multiplatform certainly haven’t helped gamers flock to their nearest retailer to purchase the Wii U.

Nintendo is announcing today a new bundle that will hopefully entice potential Wii U customers to purchase the system, especially you adults out there that love a good zombie-killing game. The new bundle packages a Wii U Deluxe Set along with arguably one of the better Wii U games currently available, Ubisoft’s ZombiU. If that wasn’t enough, the bundle also includes a Wii U Pro Controller and a ZombiU art book all for $389.99.

According to Nintendo, the bundle will save potential customers a total of $70 when compared to the retail price of each included product. If the ZombiU bundle has piqued your interest, you can expect to be available at retailers on February 17.

Wii U Pro controller was created for hardcore gamers in mind, according to Nintendo

A while back, there were rumors that suggested that the only reason Nintendo created the Wii U Pro controller was because some publishers refused to release games on the upcoming Wii U console if they did not have a more “conventional” gamepad.  While not exactly confirming the rumors about the publisher aspect, Wii U hardware producer Katsuya Eguchi explained the reason behind the creation of the Wii U Pro in an interview with Gameplanet, which was to help open up multi-platform support to third-party developers.

“Adding a Pro controller may make it easier for multi-platform games to come out on the system”,  […] Wii remotes don’t have things like analog sticks. To make it as easy as possible to enjoy certain multiplayer experiences it was important to have that Pro controller.

We’re all gamers as well and we appreciate the interest of those [hardcore] gamers, and we don’t want them to feel left out, so we’re making big strides and changes in that area.”

What do you guys think? Will we start seeing more ‘hardcore’ games, typically found on consoles like the PS3 and 360, make their way onto Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U gaming console?
