Pikmin 3 Releasing On The Nintendo Wii U On August 4

Pikmin 3 Releasing On The Nintendo Wii U On August 4

Nintendo announced a new Pikmin title would be headed to the Wii U during their E3 press conference last summer. Pikmin 3 will mark the return of Olimar as he makes his way through a number of puzzles and battles enemies all with the help of his trusty Pikmin. It’s been nearly ten years since the previous Pikmin game was released, and Nintendo announced this morning during their Nintendo Direct presentation the wait won’t be too long as Pikmin 3 is heading to the Wii U on August 4.

We’ve been introduced to the various Pikmin we’ll be using in Pikmin 3, such as the new Rock Pikmin, but Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed a new flying Pikmin that was hinted at through various game trailers and even the box art for the game. The new pink Pikmin will have wings and be able to carry items while it hovers in the air. “They will be helpful in different ways than the other Pikmin types,” said Iwata-san during the new unit’s reveal this morning.

Nintendo Wii U update coming next week

We knew an update to the Wii U would be coming at some point this month, but Nintendo has finally announced that we should be seeing the update land sometime next week. The update will fix slow load times that have plagued Wii U consoles lately, and it’ll also bring background downloads as well as Virtual Console.

Ever since the console officially launched back in November, gamers have been complaining about glacially slow load times with games, and overall sluggish performance. However, Nintendo has promised that a major update would fix the problems, and hopefully it does, because if it doesn’t, Nintendo will have so serious explaining to do.

Nintendo will also be adding background downloads to ease the inconvenience of downloading full retail games. The new system tweaks in the update will allow gamers to not only download games while they’re in-game, but also when the console is turned off, which will no doubt put a smile on digital downloaders’ faces.

As for the Wii U Virtual Console, that will be included with the major update next week, and it will allow you to play your favorite classic games from older consoles like the GameBoy Advance and Nintendo 64. These games will be playable on the Wii U gamepad. Such games include Kirby’s Adventure, Super Mario World, Donkey King Jr., Punch Out!, and F-Zero.

Nintendo Wii U Spring Update Coming Next Week With Additional Improvements

Nintendo Wii U Spring Update Coming Next Week With Additional Improvements

The long-awaited Wii U spring system update was first announced at the beginning of this year and said to be released later this month. Nintendo announced this morning its upcoming system update for the Wii U will be releasing next week.

Nintendo won’t only be improving the speed performance of the Wii U with its spring update, but it will also be adding a number of overall system improvements to make your experience with the console a lot less frustrating. Some of the new features will make it possible to copy and move data from two USB drives that are connected to the Wii U, the ability to download and install software in the background as you play a game as well as after you shut off the system. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Updated For Wii U, Now Supports Off-Screen Playing

Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Updated For Wii U, Now Supports Off Screen PlayingOne of the cooler features of the Nintendo Wii U is its ability to take the game you’re playing on your television, and transfer it to the Gamepad. This is handy when someone needs the TV, or if you’re moving to a different location in the house. Now the good news for Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate players is that the game for the Wii U has recently been updated and players will now be able to enjoy the game on television screen or on their Gamepad, whichever they prefer or whichever the situation dictates. The update will also be merging both the North American servers and European servers into a giant server, allowing players from multiple regions to all play together, get connected and hunt monsters. In order to update the game, all you’d have to do is launch the game and you should begin downloading automatically.

Nintendo Wii U Sales Believed To Reach Only 55,000 In March [Analyst]

Nintendo Wii U Sales Believed To Reach Only 55,000 In March [Analyst]

The “disappointing“ sales of the Nintendo Wii U may be continuing this month as there are still no noteworthy games on the console that would make gamers rush out to buy it as soon as possible. At last count, Nintendo had sold only 64,000 units of the Wii U in February, and it looks like their sales may have gone further downhill, according to an analyst.

Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter has once again given his input as to how he believes Nintendo is doing with its Wii U, which of course he believes they’re still selling terribly. In a research note to investors published today, Pachter believes Nintendo sold just 55,000 Wii U units in the U.S. last month. The Nintendo Wii, on the other hand, did better in terms of sales as it moved 85,000 units in the U.S., although it dropped a total of 51 percent year-over-year. (more…)

Rayman Legends Delay Resulted In 30 New Levels, New Boss Battles

Rayman Legends Delay Resulted In 30 New Levels, New Boss Battles

Rayman Legends’ delay may have brought the game to additional platforms, but ultimately, fans of Rayman Origins looking for more Rayman goodness are left without their fix, that is, until Ubisoft releases its second demo of the game on the Wii U later this month. But its seven-month delay is being used in the best way possible: by adding more content.

Rayman Legeds’ senior game manager Michael Micholic revealed to Official Nintendo Magazine UK the delay could certainly be seen as a blessing. “Trust me, the things we are adding aren’t minor,” he says. “We’re not talking about adding some polish here and there, but 30 new levels and several new bosses.” (more…)

Rayman Legends Wii U Demo Coming In Late April With Four Levels

Rayman Legends Wii U Demo Coming In Late April With Four Levels

Ubisoft announced in February its once Wii U exclusive Rayman Legends was not only receiving a lengthy delay from it’s original release date of February 26 to sometime in September, but that it was also no longer going to be exclusive, instead also seeing a release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. To make up for this upsetting news to Wii U owners, Ubisoft announced it would be making a completely exclusive Rayman Legends challenge mode in April completely for free. Today, Ubisoft is announcing some more details as to what it’ll include.

The upcoming second demo for Rayman Legends will include four levels, with one of them being completely exclusive to the Wii U called “Murfy’s Dungeon.” The demo will feature the game’s newly introduced online challenge mode which will continually update itself with new daily and weekly challenges, with each challenge including its own set of leaderboards. The new demo is said to be coming in “late-April,” which we hope doesn’t mean April 30th as we definitely need our Rayman fix sooner rather than later.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist Confirmed For Wii U To Launch On August 20

Splinter Cell: Blacklist’s release date may have been pushed back to August 20, but it looks like Ubisoft is adding one more video game console to its release schedule as a Wii U version of the game has been confirmed by the company today.

In addition to the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC, Wii U owners will be able to get a chance to play Splinter Cell: Blacklist on their game console of choice, and as is expected, it’ll make good use of the Wii U GamePad by showcasing “enhanced game-play features” that will allow players to use Sam Fisher’s tools, switch weapons, take out enemies and navigate environments. Nintendo Patent Hints At Remote-Controlled Toys Interacting With Game Consoles

Nintendo Patent Hints At Remote Controlled Toys Interacting With Game Consoles

Nintendo’s Wii U might not be having the greatest launch so far, that hasn’t stopped the company from imagining new ways for its owners to interact with their console.

A new patent that has been granted to Nintendo this week highlights the ability to create a “remotely controlled mobile device control system.” What this means in not-so patent-like terms is Nintendo is describing a method of using something similar to its Wii Remote controller in order to embed it within a “remote controlled toy. The reason for this pair is in order to have the Wii Remote-infused toy interact with the game console. (more…)

Nintendo Wii Remotes May Finally Be Getting Rechargeable Battery Packs

Nintendo Wii Remotes May Finally Be Getting Rechargeable Battery Packs

We’d guess something like this, but more Nintendo-y

Both Microsoft and Sony have delivered rechargeable batteries for their respective controllers, making NIntendo one of the only companies who have yet to offer such a product to its customers who want to be rid of the hundreds of AA batteries stuck in their kitchen’s crap drawer. But it looks as though Nintendo may finally offer such an accessory due to a newly discovered survey.

The survey suggests Nintendo may be offering a rechargeable battery pack for its Wii Remotes as they ask survey takers if they would be interested in a battery pack and charger that would provide 13 hours of use after a 90 minute charge. The survey also asks if the survey taker would pay $40 for their rechargeable battery pack if it came with a new strap and replacement silicone cover. (more…)
